Hi, I didn't found any thread about this topic....
I want to know what is the lightest android version and what you will recommend?
Some other trick or free apps to make consume less battery? and make p880 flowing?

Just got my O2X and i want to optimise it so it uses less batteri and is as fast as possible.
I think im going to root it. And i want to remove ALL LG specific software. Is that possible?
Can i uninstall the antivirus? Havent had a virus in 10 year on my computer... why should i get it on the handset?
Any guides and optimisation tips is recieved with gratitude
Grab the MoDaCo vanilla ROM, it's a stock ROM that's had all the LG stuff binned off for the default Android apps, and is more optimised.

Hi Guys,
I just joined the Optimus 2x community, have a few simple questions in mind.
I couldnt find the answer to them after searching for a long time. I think many other new users would also appreciate your help in answering these questions
1) Is it worth it updating the baseband? What is the best one in terms of stability and battery performance? A side question to this: which one should I use for New Zealand?
2) Can I restore the LG Original Rom after rooting and installing a custom Rom? How could I do that, simply with LG's update software or would it be more complicated than that?
3) How much better is a custom Rom like Fear 12.6 FR19 compared to say update via LG to a newer original Rom and then using an app that freezes the bloatware that you dont use, in terms of battery life, etc?
4) Does SetCpu and other CPU underclocking apps actually help save battery, or would the phone automatically reduce CPU speed when idle anyway?
5) What was the best mod/update for you, in terms of battery life, lag improvement, bug fixes, etc? What Rom and essential apps are you using now?
I would have posted this in the development forum, but as I dont meet the member requirement I am putting this thread here.
Any help is much appreciated! Or if you have similar basic questions please feel free to add them to this thread.
Ok so I'm starting to get some of how andorid os works (seems a lot different than the way blackberries work ) but anway I'm am getting there .
So what is the advantage of rooting and flashing ?
Does it make stuff faster or something ?
Can you use the hotspot for free ?
Or is that stuff used by the devs and not really necessary to do ?
But by all means I'd like stuff to run smoother and faster and of course free hotspot
Just try n to learn it

Rooting and flashing's primary advantage is that it lets you modify the phone as you please, from ripping out system bloatware to adblocking to scaling the CPU for battery life. That can be construed as running smoother and faster, since bloatware is usually a resource hog.
For free WiFi hotspot, you have to root and put the phone on a custom ROM, as the stock ROM has checks built in to prevent it from being done without a tethering plan.
Google is your friend...but since I'm nice, heres an article that will help you out:
Root Explained - This will also explain the benefit of flashing ROMs. Not to sound mean, but PLEASE read it and search the forums before posting. Thanks, good luck, and have fun.
Hi
I am using samsung galaxy i9000. its a great device but one feature that irritates me is that it has just 512mb of ram. i have used many ROMs but still can't find any suitable ROM that consumes less ram. By less i mean max 200 mb.
Please tell me that there is a ROM that has no bugs and is not addicted to the Ram of my device. :crying::crying:

I've had this phone for two years and I've done everything you can imagine with it, not once have I come anywhere near running out of RAM... Have you actually run into problems? And how? I'm on CM10.1 right now and it's sitting at 209MB used.
Now I've been trying for several minutes to make a problem with it. Opening everything I can and making it all use as much RAM as possible at the same time. The cache is full now, but it's sitting at 212MB used when I go to the running apps page. Your problem is a mystery to me.

Linux uses all available memory as a cache, it's not a problem.

Well i am using different apps for different purposes insted of using custom apps. like GO SMS, Go launcher, and some keypad apps.
and most importantly it slows down the games like subway surfer, 6 guns. and there are many other lags that accour after running some apps.

Are you looking for a JB ROM?
Try using some clean AOSP ports: Oficial Android 4.2 (Galaxy Nexus Stock Rom) <Beta 1> by Dev Elitemovil / presenter: iall5tar,
or custom mixes build on sources: Slim Bean 4.2.1 RC1
You should also consider giving a try some older ROMs from Gingerbread (2.3.6) family. You will find fairly up-to-date i9000 ROM list over: HERE.

I installed stable C-ROM 4.1.1, it works blady fast....
Should be noted anyone checking available ram in system settings loses 40-50mb ram to... system settings x)
It's not even remotely accurate at gauging exactly what you have to work with, for several reasons.

Hello. I recently bought my LG 4X HD from Wind Mobile in Alberta for what I though was pretty cheap ($400). I'm having some battery issues that are discussed on this forum (Google Maps using 60% of my battery, etc). And I also have the lock screen constantly lighting up for no apparent reason, at least once every two minutes.
I'd like to root it and install a custom rom like I did with my LG G2X before (Thanks to everyone from that forum for all the help there), but I'm not sure what the best option is and whether it will help my issues. I know that since it is a P880g instead of a P880 I have some special considerations.
I'd like to have something like jelly bean. I hear this butter initiative thing really helps performance, and I'd like to give Google Now a try. But the most important thing really is battery life. I can do without some fancy features as long as my phone can get through 1 full day without having to plug it in or swap batteries.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
