Lol, thanks alot m8
yeah, it was damn right. after had trying lollipop everything goes down i think. specially the battery, draining fast.
so i made a downgrade to JB with the RUU, and upgrading again to 4.4.2 till right now. dont want anymore to use lolli.
I don't know about others, but the battery life for me has been really good on the latest 7.193401.22 for EU variants.
I've had my (AT&T) m7 on Android Revolution HD 90.1 for ~1 - 2 months with zero issues, not even a single crash/reboot. I have not noticed a change in battery life from 4.4. Another nice bonus is performance of the phone has improved significantly - though that could be that I no longer have Xposed installed.

I've an HTC One (Unlocked version) and currently it's running on Android 4.2.2 (preloaded). Today I checked for software update and there's an update available; Jelly Bean 4.3 with Sense 5.5 but I'm curious why doesn't it shows up the latest KitKat update as HTC releases KitKat for HTC One globally recently. The question is do I need to update Android 4.3 before going to KitKat for my HTC One? Secondly, what are the major changes in 4.3 and latest KitKat update (incl. Sense 5.5), RAM Management, Battery life and other changes/effects on phone?

4.4 had huge battery improvements, 4.3 was more about bug fixes (if I recall correctly). But you should update to 4.3 to get the included firmware updates. After you do that, you can root and install a KitKat ROM if you want.

this depends on your CID to get 4.4 KitKat update
you can update to 4.3, after that maybe you'll receive 4.4 update
or you can manually get yourself KitKat ROM & you can enter the world of custom ROMs

Right now I'm in Russia (Moscow). Pakistan is my home town.
If you are willing to update via the "Official way", you should update to 4.3 and then maybe you will receive also 4.4 notification.
As OTA means Over The Air UPDATE, it relies up, that there is something, that it will update (same as with windows updates. you need windows installed prior to installing updates).
Ota doesn't contain complete system image, just instructions which file to replace / delete afaik

Then it's probably either not released for your CID & model combination or your phone is loaded with "custom" version from phone operator.
Try getting application CID GETTER from play store and post your results - top row.
Then your phone model number (written on back side).
Eventually you can discuss the issue in this topic

I am quite partial to Lollipop GPE roms, particularly stock roms. However if I want a long term stable rom, I always end up going back to a Kitkat Sense 6 rom as they provide the best for battery life and smoothest performance.

Have u tried NuSense7 yet? It's smoother and more dependable than any rom I've ever been on, stock sense 6 included. I'm on the Verizon version as I'm on a vzw m7, however I know @santod040 knows what he's doing with anything m7 related, and I know he has the same rom available for wwe/international m7 as well.

Hi,
I am newbie who want to reinstall Android on my HTC One M7, my actually version is 5.0.2. Why I want to do it? Because my phone can lagging and it don't have warranty anymore, I just want to make it working faster and looking better. This is what I want to install is Android 7.X (Nougat).
This is why I have a few questions to you:
1. What is a risk when I am doing reinstall of my OS? If I am using some image from web should I be aware of viruses?
2. If I install 6.X or 7.X android version on my M7, is it gonna work better or at least stable just like lolipop did?
3. The last, the most important question for me, how can I do it? I am not sure which tutorial could help me to make that reinstalation.
I would be really thankful for your time.
1. The only risk is that there will be some instability depending on the ROM that you use. This of course varies. Every ROM is virus fee, so don't worry about that!
2. Like I said above, Stability varies on the ROM and how often it gets updated and tackles on bugs. You'll get the main features (+ even more) on the Marshmallow or Lolipop ROM that you pick.
3. There's a lot of process that goes to it. You need an unlocked Bootloader, TWRP, and other things. I recommend starting off here:

Hi,
could you tell me which android is the best right now for Htc One M7? I have that damm lolipop 5.0.2. I don't want to see there any additional softwares and other upgrades.
When I am asking about the best android I have on mind:
- the most compatible version of android for HTC One M7
- the most clean, without any additions
- the most safe, where I have sure that devs won't spy on me and I gonna can use it even with bank transactions
My last question when we find out which android gonna be the best for my situation is: How to install it and what to do step by step?
Please help me guys, I seriously want to change that lolipop but I don't reall know how to start and which android gonna be the best (it can be even official version if it is possible somehow).
Edit: Have I to take out SIM card when I gonna reinstall my OS?
What kind of style do you want? Highly customizable? HTC Sense or stock Android? Nougat or Marshmallow? Note that it's best to have S-OFF if you install nougat roms. I have S-ON w/ nougat the experience is not that great.
First go to HTCDev to unlock your bootloader. It's an official website created by HTC itself so no worries. [emoji6]

I unlocked that earlier. That was easy step, so S-OFF is here. I don't really know if Marshmallow is better for me or Nougat, I suppose the higher version then better, so maybe Nougat? It can be even Marshmallow if it gonna work better and more compatibile.

Me personally, I have 2 M7 and run different roms. My DD is running Tesla Rom which is customizable and my other is running AICP which is way more customizable. Sense is flashable now as well
Looking to re-use my old M7 for a few months. It is unlocked and twrp installed, and the latest firmware onboard.
Looking for a rom that is stable, good with battery and has some nice tweaks especially centre clock and status bar mods. I prefer Sense based roms as I like the HTC keyboard and phone app, and the speaker/sound quality is usually better with beats.
I noticed Venom Roms have gone.
Would appreciate some suggestions. I know these "what is the best rom" threads are annoying
Thanks,.
Try latest ViperOne.
Btw GPE based roms have best battery life.
Any download link for the latest Venom rom? Their site has been dead for weeks.
GPE roms have the better battery life? Interesting, I was always under the impression Sense were probably better. Thanks for the info.
Here is latest ViperOne: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347768075
And yeah, GPE roms have the best battery life for M7, maybe other device doesn't.
But if you don't look only for battery life you can try nougat roms, they're very stable(only the random reboot problem) and if you install viper4android and activate speakers optimisation the sound it's like beats audio.

The random reboot problem is user related. I used nougat roms for about a year and had like 5 random reboots in this time. Only bug in N roms is the speakerphone bug but thats easy to avoid if you disable speaker before ending the call. Some roms still have bluetooth bug where you cant activate it after turning it off until you rebooted the device. But everything else is 100% stable. And O Roms will become much more bugfree in the future. Today i got my new phone (u11 life) so about at the end of next week i gone give away my m7 to a friend.
Thanks, are all the Sense 7 roms stable to use?

Sense based roms and GPE based roms are stable than any other rom because they are stock modified.
@ maritimesbob
If you would like to have actual Security-Patchlevel (january 2018 or february 2018), you should use "unofficial" LineageOS, or better XenonHD or (best in my opinion) slimroms "Slim7". These all are AOSP-based ROMs, and you should first flash your M7 with GPE firmware (found in another thread here -- "unlocked" AND "s-off" necessary to do so) to have a very good battery behaviour. If you use it with Sense firmware you will see a very strange battery behaviour (crash with 70% or 50%, after that recharging from 0% and so on...)
Use Sense-based ROMs with Sense-firmware.
Use AOSP-based ROMs with GPE-firmware.
"slim7" Nougat 7.1.2 works very very good for me, nearly without any issues (very few random reboots, phone speaker bug, very seldom bluetooth bug). I'm using it on three M7 devices. It's good for daily use.

Thanks for the info, did not realise flashing the corresponding firmware made much difference, ie sense roms and sense firmware, gpe/aosp roms and gpe firmware.
I need to get the device s-offed first. Had three m7 devices so far, getting a bit fed up paying up $25 or whatever it is to s-off them!!

Me too... even three devices.
Try S-OFF (sunshine-S-OFF) first with one of them... install GPE-firmware (6.04.1700.19 including radio firmware!!! --- search for M7_UL_GPE_Firmware_6.04.1700.19.zip by "Slim Jim Guy" on androidfilehost, it's 28.5MB (29144KB), dated Jun 23, 2016 --- it's the firmware only, without boot.img and without recovery.img, and of course without the ROM) and if you feel happy with that, you can think about the other devices...

select here "complete firmware"
It's installable via htc_fastboot.exe, you have to switch in rebootRUU mode.

Well the problem is that if you use an older version of android like 5.x or 6.x there are several hundred security gaps which where closed in the last months/years and you can see it here https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_von_Android-Versionen all that are on security patch februar have closed all know security problems.

OK and can I get that with the latest Sense? Or does it have to be Google?

Ifyou mean firmware, it would be better with Google Play Edition firmware, if you mean rom none of both are newer than android 5.1

I meant Rom, so you are telling me I can't get up to 7.1/8 on an M7?
Or what's the solution?
