My battery was getting as hot as 110 degrees when just using it. Their support staff told me to boot into recovery and clear the partition. This worked for me. It still gets hot, but hardly reached over 100 degrees now.

I forgot the actual steps..but turn off phone, turn on by holding the power button and volume down key for a few seconds > boot into recover > hold power key and volume up for a bit > look for the option to clear partition. That worked for me.

[Q] Shorted out/ faulty buttons?

Hello and thank you for your responses in advance.
I am having a very strange issue with my galaxy mini:
During normal usage ( specifically using whatsapp) and a quick burst of the back button my phone started taking screenshots with every button press and also when settled on a table would either flash the menu function ( like the menu button was pressed ) or bring up a google search ( screen was off it turned on and flashed a menu or opened google search ) . The display would not turn on using the home button and also when turned off and then turned back on it would go into recovery mode( like home+ power was pressed) where the home button was unresponsive for selection (reboot/ wipe/ etc) . This was not consistent, sometimes the phone would boo,t work normally for a few minutes then start taking screenshots when fiddled with and also in recovery mode sometimes the home button would work for the menu selection but sometimes the menu key would work for the selection (rarely) . I tried restoring to factory settings, wiping data cache, flashing CM7 , flashing stock, rooting, unrooting, pulling the battery out, i even intentionally soft bricked it ( bad cm7 flash ) just to see if it makes any difference . Nada, phone would either boot normally and start taking screenshots, flashing the " you just pressed the menu button" selection rapidly or simply opening google search when set on a table OR it would boot into recovery where i couldn't select anything and i had to remove the battery and plug it back in several times for me to be able to select reboot now. Phone was a stock 2.3.4 orange Romania rooted for me to be able to read the network unlock code from inside the binaries, no custom rom was flashed prior to this. I was thinking that me using the phone as an mp3 player at the gym (keeping it in my gym shorts) would of enabled sweat to seep through the keypad go under the buttons and short them out over time ? My last trip to the gym was weeks ago so that's strange.
It would be easier to read if you put some space between the line

The cell has menu/home/back and volume up down and the power button. The behavior is present all the time not just when it is conected via usb . As far as i know the home key should be enter in the recovery menu, i've tried all 3 keys but they don't work. But, it's not about the recovery menu, it's the fact that after it boots it's unusable as it starts taking screenshots on any button press and when i set it down it lights up and starts showing the menu like the menu key was pressed

It was already sent to a service center, the warranty is shady on the handset so i don't think i can claim it. The estimate came today, it's a faulty motherboard. The phone will be taken out back and shot in the back of the head to end its misery
Does anybody know if a replacement motherboard comes with any bootloader or software and how can I flash firmware once it is installed?

Really worried

OK so my HTC one won't turn on won't charge led doesn't even glow ..the problem started when I downloaded kaspersky i doubt it is their fault and I couldn't prove it was their app but now my phone doesn't even start or charge I'm so worried and I have held the power button for like 5 minutes !!!! ..it started with qpps crashing randomly like the messenger the text messenger app the Google play music then it sort of soft reset rebooted and said android is upgrading I uninstalled kaspersky and then tried to clear my phones cache with 1 tap cleaner I think but while it was scanning it froze again literally the problem started like 3 hours ago..and well it froze I tried to hold the power button to power off and it didn't for a long time then it finally did and I couldn't get it back on .....help!!!! Any ideas ????

I actually just did a warranty exchange due to a HTC one that would not charge. Do verify there is nothing in the USB port. Even small lint can keep charger from making contact. With charger connected hold power button for up to a minute see if light changes then.
With phone off, fully charge, then see if you can boot into bootloader while holding volume down when powering on. Do this with no cable attached and continue to hold volume down until hboot. Once in hboot, volume down to factory reset and click power to select. If you dont see factory reset you may be in fastboot mode, if so volume down to bootloader and power to select, then factory reset This will erase your phone. If software is to blame for the issues this will fix it.
Lol...from my observation..this problem getting bigger..i also just had the same problm..my case battery were drain completely..i try to charge for 2 days straight..still no led light...its going to htc center soon..
Mine is only 1 month and 10 days old!!

Factory Recovery??

I can't seem to get my phone to boot into recovery. I do the power-volume up and it boots to a "Hardware key control mode" but it boots to system after that. Am I missing something.
I have the t-mobile LG D959 G FLEX TITAN SILVER KIT. That is how it is listed on the box.
Turn phone completely off, make sure it is unplugged from the charge cable. Then hold volume down and power together until you see the screen say recovery mode. First it will show the LG splash screen. You must continue to hold it until you see the words recovery mode.

I thought it was power and volume up not down. BUT, it doesn't matter which volume key, they both bring me to the hardware key control window. It stops there to select on off or cancel. From this screen, you have to make a selection which requires you to release the buttons. Once leaving this screen with whatever choice is made it boots up to system. Yes phone is unplugged and a complete shutdown is made.
I'm on the Sprint version and the way I said gets me into recovery. It's strange that it doesn't work for you. Just to make sure. I start off by holding volume down then I push and hold power with it until recovery mode shows

Leave the power button when you see the logo. And continue pursuing rest of the key
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
These are the instructions from the t-mo user manual:
Power off the device and ensure it is not connected to any USB cables.
At the same time, press and hold the following keys for 8 seconds:
Power key
Volume down key
When the LG Logo is displayed, release and then immediately re-hold the Power key.
When the 'FACTORY HARD RESET' screen displays, release the keys.
Press the Power key to reset or one of the Volume keys to cancel.
Press the Power key to confirm the reset. The reset will start immediately.
Still can't get recovery, so I went into Titanium Backup, and rebooted to recovery from there. Reboots, I see the android with a little diamond kinda thing in his torso for probably less than a second, screen goes black and LG logo pops up and it boots system. Curious if this can be attributed to rooting? Any other ROOTED tmo users confirm they can boot to recovery, please.
I used supsersu to unroot and was able to achieve recovery. Re-rooted and no recovery.????
this may be a silly question, but have you flashed CWM or TWRP?(not sure if there are versions for this phone)

No, stock phone except for root, I prefer TWRP and am waiting. This is really a snappy phone and I am happy with it the way it is for now. Been a long time since I had a stock phone, and this one works great so far. Not in any hurry to put a custom rom on it, Not to good with ADB, but I want to make a recovery image.
I never had a LG phone before, so I am not sure if your problem getting into recovery comes from the fact you are rooted, but still have a stock recovery instead of a custom one like twrp/CWM..
I cant decide on this phone, the Xperia Z1S, or the note 3; I have to drop Sprint this week because their network sucks and my family cant make calls from the house, and I cant decide which phone to get..
love the way the flex feels and looks, but its 4.2; sony screen is a bit small coming form a One Max and Note 2, and the Note 3 is kinda boring....tons of roms to choose from for the note 3..
decisions, decisions...the beauty of Android! :cyclops:
I messed up and flashed a wrong recovery now I need the stock img anyone have it? ?

My phone just stopped working(turning on)..

well...this kinda ruined my night yesterday...I went to a concert yesterday around 8 and my phone had 70% and I was checking facebook or something like that and without no notification or warning it froze and turned off on me. I figured it was a normal freeze..and I attempted to turn it back on and nothing happened. Went to my car to try to charge it and nothing. Not even a charging light. A day has passed after the concert was over (could not take pictures, thanks htc..) and now the "dead battery symbol" comes up and the orange light keeps BLINKING..to my understanding it means that it is not charging? What could it be..anybody could help me out .maybe a soft reset? no charging it for a couple of minutes?
Anything would help. Thanks..:crying:
Possibly try holding the phone under a light and press the power button?

Mine froze up on me last week during a power cycle. I had to hold the power button about 2 mins (if not longer) before it finally responded and rebooted. I was getting my coat to take it back to the store, holding the power button the entire time, then bang, the white screen with the HTC logo finally appeared.
Not a good feeling ?

Also try holding power and both volume buttons.
I had a random freeze up and that was the only thing that worked...could have been a fluke but it's worth a shot.

+1 for that method. I had a freeze up and that's what I did to get out of it and reboot.

You should be able to hard reset (not factory reset) with just power and volume up, hold for 15 secs. That's how I got out of a broken recovery screen.

Trust me I tried every combination of buttons I could think of lol.
I actually thought it bricked, took me like 5 minutes before it finally booted to bootloader.

Enter Safemode to boost performance

Hi
I have the AT&T galaxy s6 edge 128GB, I've being using it for about a month now. The phone is amazing except for when I hit the home button which causes a short pause before showing the widgets and the shortcuts. After contacting Samsung they gave me these instructions which seems to work:
Enter into safemode by:
1. Switching the phone off.
2. Switch the phone on + hold the volume down button.
3. when the screen turn on, release the power button and keep holding the volume down button until seeing the lock screen.
*THIS PROCESS WILL SOFT REST YOUR PHONE. MEANING THAT YOU BE LOGGED OUT OF ALL YOUR ACCOUNTS LIKE TWITTER AND INSTAGRAM AND IT WILL DISABLE ALL THE PLAY STORE INSTALLED APPS UNTIL YOU SWITCH BACK TO NORMAL MODE*
After entering the safemode, use the phone for about 25 minutes then restart it to normal mode. That's it.
So have you seen any performance improvements?

I saw a difference. The phone was fast and smooth in the safemode, which means that one of the apps that I installed is causing an issue when I use it in normal mode.
Sorry for the late reply
