Any solution?
Only GPRS/EDGE does work, if 3G is available, it disconnects automatically until 3G isn't available.
Solution: Set to 2G-Only :-(
Anyone has the same problem?
I didn't have this problem with FRF 72.
Provider: Sunrise Switzerland
Radio: 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7
Have you tried going into your phone settings from *#*#4636#*#* and setting it to wcdma only? I did that on mine not too long ago and no more dropping to edge for me!

does it lose complete signal? or does it show 3g still but just not doing anything?
Mine was working at first after flash. Then at about 2am it just kept trying to load then times out. Still shows 3g but just dont do anything. Im hoping its just tmobile messing with their towers... I dont see why it would work at first then not now..
The problem is, that i can only have a internet connection, when the phone is logged in into a gsm or edge network.
as soon as wcdma is available, the phone disconnects from the internet.
the signal is always available, but it looses the internet connection when it changes to 3G mode.
when the phone changes from 2G->3G mode, i see for 1s the 3G icon and then no icon will bi there.
when it changes back from 3G->2G, the EDGE/GPRS icon is visible again.

ok thanks for clarification. My problem is different. I think related to phone company.. I still show the 3g signal and even have bars, but the pages dont load and eventually gives me the check your service and try again alert....
So Im hoping soon its working again for me... And I hope you as well figure it out.....
Thank you Good luck!
Had the same issue after update, did *#*#4636#*#* and noticed I was set to GSM only. Set it to WCDMA preferred and now it's good.
Thank you very much, thats the solution!!

Thank you. Updated to FRF83 this morning and I've had a full 3g signal, just couldn't pull data all day. Could over edge. Sure enough, GSM only was selected.
AT&T N1.
I'm having the same issue on a non-rooted phone on T-Mobile. No 3G after the FRF83 update. Full bars of service and 3G displayed in the status bar. Dropping to Edge only works but there is no data with 3G.

Same issue here.
Switching to WCDMA preferred doesn't work for me though.....any help is welcome
I think it's a hardware problem with a lot of N1's.
Mine was ok the first 2 months, and later, 3g not working. This is driving me crazy ):
I have tried everything. Change the simcard, I did a reset of the data with my telcon, and nothing happens.
I've seen these problems on many N1's.
I hope google / htc release a fix for this problem.

how bout checking your bands in the service menu. so *#*#4636#*#* -> phone info -> press the menu key for more options -> select bands -> choose one appropriate for your region (ie "USA BANDS").
If all else fails do a factory reset by going to the settings -> privacy -> restore factory defaults.. of course do a backup/sync/whatever before just to make sure you can get all your apps back.
There's other ways to do a factory reset via the bootloader .. its under recovery and you press up volume or the trackball I think and you can just select all the clear/erase settings there and that should clear out everything on the phone's internal storage.
The factory reset worked for me (via bootloader) when I upped from update-1 to FRF50 and didn't have any data icon next to my signal strength. Could call out but couldn't get data.
Hope that helps.

Check your APN settings. Do a full factory reset from the bootloader. If nothing works you should call tech support again. Most 3g issues where you have issues with connecting are service/signal level related. I *****ed early about my 3g issues on tmobile and it was the network as they've pretty much gone away with improving the backhaul in my area for HSDPA+ or updates to the phone's radio.
HTC is really really really cool about swapping phones and repairing them. If you feel you have a nexus that has hardware issues call them. I did this 3 times already (one time for minor cosmetic issues with the refurb they sent) and I couldn't be happier about how willing they were to replace/repair the phone. It turns out I really didn't have any issues with them at all.. with any issues with hardware from the second refurbished phone. It was service or software related and I'm happy to say with updates/tmobile service improvements I couldn't be happier with this phone.

Thanks blisk, but the thing I don't understand is why Blackberry 9700 with T-Mobile bands, doesn't have problems at all ?
By the way, I rooted my phone , so the thing with the warranty it's complicated
I had it happen last night at work all night, but when i got home i checked my wife's tp2 and it also was doing the same thing so for levity wasn't the phone but tmobile. They started worming the same time also.... I think its tmobile.
Hello, I had the same problem with my imported n1. I'm using the tmobile version non rooted fully stock manually updated to frf83. I did a *#*#4636#*#* and selected wcdma only, rebooted and couldn't connect to my gsm network. Went in again and did a wcdma preferred, rebooted, and I works better, still changes fast to edge and G, but less often, I'm still trying it but I have high hopes its gonna be ok
Mmmm i did have problems with 3G too after pushing FRF83, but i found out that for some reason the APN settings weren't set correctly after the update. In my case the port setting after the proxy of the APN wasn't set, i changed to the correct value and it worked.
In conclusion, check your APN settings.
Just went from FRF72 to FRF83 and it's working fine.
I'm currently set to GSM auto (PRL) in the *#*#4636#*#* and I didn't change it to that after putting on FRF83.
Yesterday my Milestone dropped the network and wrote "Only emergency calls". On other phones there was maximum signal. After a while the phone logged in to the network, but lost the signal again. I thought something is with the ROM, so I made a factory reset but didn't help. I flashed the correct SBF file (first Éclair, then Froyo), but didn't help. I restored an earlier MOD I used without any problem but didn't work.
I always used the German baseband files with other MODs because my Milestone is German.
The problem is that if I make anything (I mean anything related to the data connection), the GSM signal disappears, sometimes data connection remain with no problem, sometimes it is lost, too, but sometimes it has GSM signal with only EDGE network. If I do nothing, just turn off the screen and do nothing, everything goes back to normal, and the phone has normal data connection with GSM signal, I can make or receive phone calls.
I put in another SIM but the issue was the same.
Can I try something related to software and didn't try yet or this is a hardware failure? And if so, what is the price of a GSM module? I couldn't find it.
MOD: It seems that only the 3G is not working (sometimes HSPA does while 3G phone connection don't), with 2G there isn't any problem.
dial *#*#4636#*#*
Under phone info, try a different network type.
It probably defaults to GSM (auto). It does on mine anyway and it's fine.
But maybe WCDMA preferred, GSM only, or WCDMA only will work better.
It depends on which is screwing up... the WCDMA or the GSM
edit: had the dialpad code wrong... again.. geez

Are you sure you have applied the correct baseband?
I would tell to re-apply thru AOR.
Sent from my Milestone using XDA Premium App
You could go to settings, wireless and networks and somewhere there there is use only 2g networks and if that is checked, you could try to uncheck it. That is what happened to me before on the froyo mod. Also, you could try turning on airplane mode, then turn it off. Good luck
I always used the German baseband, tried to switch 2G/3G many times, applied the baseband trough OR, applied the RTEU baseband, re-flashed the ROM, the original Éclair, the Froyo, again and again but nothing helped. I gave up I decided to go to the service. Before that on a forum somebody asked something, I gave an answer but I was not 100% sure about it, so I flashed the RTEU Froyo.
And it worked. The 3G, HSPA, 2G, EDGE, phone functions all are working now. My phone is truly German, it has QWERTZ keyboard and the original ROM was the ROM from Deutsche Vodafone (tried that one before, too), it has the logo on its box, and the German baseband files always worked. I don't know what just happened, it's simply working now. Why now... don't know.
Hello all,
I recently unrooted my phone and ever since, I've lost my 3G signal and can't seem to get it back. Everything else, including wi-fi, works great.
Do I need to reflash? Or what can I do?
Thanks!
i gotta ask the obvious question.. have you factory reset? If not, do so.
do you test the *#*#4636#*#* menu, in phone information you can change or force your base band....
dial *228 or w/e the verizon activation number is and they will turn your 3g back on. you have to do it eerytime you use RSDlite. i thinks it's *228... but i could be wrong? idk google the number
Hi - I'm a semi-noob with this phone and Android in general (long-time iPhone JB'er finally saw the light), so sorry for any ignorance/stupidity in what follows...
HTC One, on T-Mobile
Android 4.3 SW# 3.24.531.3
Baseband vsn: 4A.21.3263.03_10.38m.1157.04L
Rooted, Unlocked, S-OFF
I was traveling on St Martin (French Caribbean) where T-Mobile gives free data roaming, so I turned on roaming and everything was fine - cell service, cell data, wifi all clearly working properly. After several days, I noticed no cell service or 3G indicator, but my wife's T-Mobile iPhone had full bars and 3G service. I waited a while, and (I *believe*) data & cell service came back on once for a while, but then failed again and have not returned to health since then (it's been about a week). Wifi works fine. When I tried to find a signal I would get "Error Searching for Networks". I thought maybe it had to do with roaming, but when I returned home (USA) I still had no cell signal/data.
I've tried rebooting, turning Data roaming on and off, Airplane mode on and off, all choices of Network mode, power off for a long time while charging, a couple other more obscure suggestions that I can't remember. I have not tried reverting to Stock or flashing a radio.
In poking around in settings:
IMEI: [normal] (this is different from several other people reporting similar problems)
Network Mode: GSM / WCDMA / LTE Auto
Operator: Unknown
Signal Strength: 0
Mobile network type: Unknown
Service State: Radio Off
Roaming: Not roaming
I've seen several posts here and on Android Forums with similar problems, but never quite a match - always a different phone and/or they are now missing their IMEI, which is not true for me and seems significant.
I never dropped the phone in water or anything, but I was traveling and it's possible it got more humidity than normal (one thread suggested water damage as a likely culprit).
Is there anything for me to do before (A) flashing a radio, (B) returning it to stock, (C) taking it to T-Mobile and hoping they'll fix it (still under warranty)? I haven't flashed a radio before, but it sounds like it's straightforward - if you have any suggestions, let me know.
I have an OTA update available to 4.4.2 - is it likely that would help me? And if I do that how much damage control will I have to do to get back to rooted/unlocked/S-OFF status?
Someone with a different phone said they removed their battery for a couple of hours and all was fine, but I'm scared to try to remove my battery, especially if I might have to take it for warranty repair.
Thanks for any guidance you can provide, and let me know if I should post any more info...

OTA update won't affect bootloader (unlocked and S-OFF). You might loose root but you can re-root after the update. Don't forget you need stock recovery to update. If you are going to send your phone for repair, you'll have to S-ON, remove tampered flag and Lock (no re-lock) the bootloader or your warranty will be invalid. You can only s-on on hboot 1.44 or 1.54 so you'll have to downgrade first.

Do not attempt to remove the battery yourself on the M7, bad idea if you are planning to send the phone under warranty.

Oh my freaking gawd, thank you. It actually didn't work at first - the button just read "turn off radio" (as if it was currently on), and tapping it didn't seem to cause any change. Kind of on a whim, I changed "preferred network type" from "WCDMA preferred" to "LTE Only", went out to settings to see if anything had changed, turned off WiFi, came back to the phone info page, clicked "turn radio off" again, and then I noticed that numbers on the screen were moving, and I had 4G/LTE and full bars again. I've switched back to "WCDMA preferred" and everything seems fine, but I don't know whether that's the right choice out of a long list of options - it's just what was there to start with.
I feel silly that it was so simple, but I didn't know about that testing screen. Thanks a ton.

better to set it to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto.
HTC One M7 no signal after upgrade Lollipop 5.0.2
Pls help. No signal. Tried phone info-->radio-off/on, switch to gsm only, WCDMA....all - NOK
The short:
I changed the "Select radio band" setting in the test menu (*#*#info#*#*) and it screwed things up.
I wiped and reflashed CM12.1 - but it didn't reset that setting (it's still borked).
Does anyone know where it stores that setting, or how to reset it somehow?
The long:
Initially in CM12.1 I was having problems staying on LTE - it always fell back to 3G and stayed there.
So tried this band change that someone who had the same problem suggested.
Now, every option I try is great for LTE but says "cellular network not available" and I can't make calls.
The exception is "Cellular" which I can make calls but only get 1X data.
These are the options in the menu:
"JAPAN Band (WCDMA-800/WCDMA-IMT-2000)"
"USA Band (GSM-850/PCS-1900/wCDMA-850/WCDMA-PCS-1900)"
"Cellular (800-MHz)"
"PCS (1900-MHz)"
I don't know what it was before and I can't see figure out how to tell what it currently is set to.
I just want to flash back to stock so things work again, but if this setting doesn't get reset then I don't know if that will work anyway.
Any chance settings like that are stored on the SIM card?

Worth a shot, but doesn't seem to have helped.
Try the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57778872
I seemed to have luck when I made the changes according to this post and then immediately ran the ping test. I don't know if the ping test really did anything to help but I've had cell service since following these steps.

Unfortunately that's what I did initially. The setting in that link ("Cellular") made my calls work, but I could only get 1X data.
So somehow by just flashing and reflashing different things (including failing to reflash to stock), it's back to where it was when I started.... which sucks, but is at least useable. Calls work and data works, but the first time it has to drop back from LTE to 3G, it get stuck in 3G forever (until airplane mode). Super sucks since it's my primary home router tethered. I have to airplane mode like 5 times a day.
Just in case someone else ran into this problem, I ended up getting a new sim from Verizon and everything's working now finally. It still says "000000" when it's in 3G, but I don't care about that - it works and it goes back to LTE when it can, rather than staying on 3G forever.
Works for Moto X play - should work for others too..
I too did the same mistake. Changed my Band to "USA" and couldn't restore to previous despite Factory reset.
The SIM 1 went into 4G data only (No voice) , didn't recognize 2G & 3G network for any sim.
However Sim 2 worked fine for 2G,3G & 4G.
i came across a thread in XDA, and after breaking my head over how to execute it, I finally did it.
I have written a brief guide to it. Here's the link.
