Uneven light AFTER screen replacement. - Galaxy S6 Edge Accessories

Hi all.
This is a followup to the thread with clear cover cause scratch. Seems like many of us (if not all) have uneven capacitive buttons (brightness), see my photo. How is this possible? Mine was ok before, and my girlfriends untouched S6 is equally bright.
What shall we do about it? If there are many, we must do something. I thought it was just me, a bad screen or something. Seems to be bigger than that..
So please fill in IF you have this issue after replacement of screen. Pic is great, if samsung is reading

My boyfriends untouched gold edge is the same the buttons are holographic. We don't have one button brighter than the other so I think you need to take yours back:banghead:

I don't use the lights under the button's on my edge because I think the phone looks much better without. But I've just switched mine on to test and there both the same brightness. I've not yet had my phone replaced or reared for that matter... so if I have to go down the repair route I'm telling them before they start...make damn sure my buttons light the same or they do it again...
Check before leaving with the handset repaired.

The Hidden Note II

This idea came about after my brother was held up at knife point for his Note II. He was just commuting home at night but thankfully nothing really bad happened to him.
I commute and I hate the idea of losing my new Note II. So, I modified my old wood covered planner by cutting out the paper layers to form a niche for the Galaxy Note II. I considered including the silicone casing to tighten secure the device into place.
I control the device with a smart watch like the old Sony Ericsson LiveView and my wireless stereo remote earphones. My main line is another common smartphone. The Note serves as my secondary line. I can quickly make calls, read & reply sms (pre composed) via the smart watch.
You just need to use the Note in safer places and not flaunt by using it while in the mod planner for long periods of time. It would also help that you install a screen dimmerv app so as the light will not to give away that you have the Note in it and keep your phone in discreet mode with just vibration alerts.
While most are flaunting this great device, it's less likely that the would-be robber will suspect that the Note is in the planner. The secondary phone is your "smoke-screen" device you will surrender.
In this way, there's no need to do any struggle especially when he has a gun pointed at you.

The previuous post are shots after I managed to cut the inside of the planner. It took me 2 hours to cut and an overnight of drying out the Elmer's glue with a small paint brush on the interior side of the cut out edges.
Choose a planner/notebook that has flexi-band to keep it closed.

Wouldn't the light from the screen give it away?

Oh, I check the forum and we are all talking about gun control?
Sigh. Ok, back on topic - the screen light would give it away at night. I imply the screen filter to dim it down at 20%. I recommend that you put your browsers at negative or dark backgrounds. I guess you have a settings when you have it in there. It isn't going to be 100% elimination of light bouncing off the opposite page.
The point of going through this trouble is concealment of your device while you travel or commute. It's about an extra layer of precaution. Keeping it out of sight will somehow lessen the provocation of a hold-up. And in the event of a hold-up, be it with whatever threat of life, just give your cheap secondary phone.
There is no point of dying for something you can replace.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium HD app
Of course not in the dark. I meant at night in a lit place. The point is - concealment; stealth; secret; not obvious; discreet; hidden; disguised...
I put the Note II in the planner when I am traveling or commuting to another place. I remove the Note entirely from the planner without showing that I have taken it out for long use in a cafe, or safe public places. You can conceal this process of taking it out or putting it back in inside your bag.
When you do need to do something with the Note's UI, it should be brief enough and unnoticeable. Backing up to a wall is one way. With the first S Pen on a holder accessory, you would look like you're jotting down something.
Other than concealment, the planner keeps the Note damage safe from drops.

Mxyzptlk, yes, the reading light is plausible. I have one, but that would be attracting attention more. But I certainly can see the long time usage of this deception. Yes, I can do this too.

I was really thinking of using it only in situations where your handset's light would otherwise ruin the effect. But I can see the reading light drawing attention too. I guess it's use would have to be occasional and with a judgement call.

My further development for the planner is to use a page and cut it exactly the Note II's screen profile and to cover the rest. I seem to be able to trigger the back and option capacitive buttons through the paper. The front paper can be held in place by using Blutack.
I still have 2 extra planners to experiment on, probably integrating the first S Pen with the holder accessory into the niche. Any further suggestions are appreciated.

Damn, that's really unfortunate. My friend had his iPhone taken in the middle of the day. The guy asked if he could make a call, then walked out of the store, and when my friend followed him, he said he had a knife and to walk the other way.
I understand where you're coming from with this mod, but in all honesty, the best way to prevent getting into a situation like this is to be smart. Of course I don't know the full story, but my advice to anyone is keep your phone concealed whenever you can and be mindful of your surroundings. May seem paranoid (Hey, I'm kinda tall for my age but I'm also pretty skinny), but I'm always watching around me for anything/one suspicious - especially when walking down a dark/sketchy side street.
Glad your brothers safe though. Situations like this can turn ugly fast.
I still have my old HTC Amaze 4G, so I'm working on finding a VNC server app for my Note II and a client for my Amaze, and then simply tethering my Amaze to my Note. Then I can leave the Note in my pocket connected to my headphones, and control it with my Amaze.
Allan, what does VNC stand for? I was thinking about doing some remote interface contro

SwiftLegend, thanks. I do the same defensive precautions. This concealment is another layer. I wish for an E-ink version to kill off the strong light.
Anyway, i got some new ideas for the 2 extra planners I have. I will post them soon.

Yeah, I have that problem, and I've seen a few others with that problem as well. Doesn't effect it at all IMO, but it does bring down that "quality feel" a bit. Especially when you "tap" in the center of the screen where it is "bowed", feels/sounds a bit hollow. I think there are some things you can do to fix it. One of such fixes that I had read included the use of super glue. Seems a bit much, I'd suggest using that warranty or hit up ASUS for a replacement. Maybe send it in so they can fix it professionally. I mean, if THEY can't fix it correctly, then it needs to be replaced. I'm waiting until the last week of my warranty, then trading it for a new one. Hopefully it won't be a refurb
I'll call them tomorrow and see what they say.

Screen turns on in pocket

Ok Here is the deal, I heve my phone in my pocket with my bluetooth headset connected and I get a call. The screen turns on and is fully active in my pocket. This has disconnected my blue tooth, hung up on people and just made my life suck when calling on this phone. I have tested it by calling it with the sensors covered and it lights right up, then I uncover the sensor and nothing happens. So then I disconect the bluetooth and cover the sensor and the screen go out, uncover it and the screen turns back on. I have spent alot of time looking for a setting and have called Samsung but no one knows how to fix this problem. I have had every att varient since the captivate and have never had this problem. So is anyone else haveing this problem???? Thanks for the replies!!!

Wow dude I've been having the same problem! So annoying to be going up a flight of stairs and hear it making the drip sound on the unlock screen. I thought maybe it was because some notification is turning the screen in (while others don't) . Or maybe my thigh was pressing the physical button (I hate the physical button because it can be triggered by anything). Not sure about the bluetooth issue.

Same here. I have a Best Buy rubbery minimal case on mine, and I get screenshots and start S voice in my pocket. I have found a small workaround. I my instance, I always put my phone in my right pocket with Samsung logo down. This will always wake my phone when I squat down. But if I put it in my pocket Samsung logo up, it nearly never happens. Not the most ingenious of solutions, but works for me.
I ended up turning off air wake up in accessibility settings. It seemed to be turning on my phone every time I placed the phone face down on the desk or in my pocket. Had nearly 5 hours of screen on time without knowing it the other day.

That setting is off already. I have checked everything twice!
I hate this problem! I finally bought an S-View knockoff case from China for about $20. I don't do anything worth the S-View app but the cover keeps the phone from turning on and doing accidental presses. Plus, I like the extra protection on the screen.

Ya I went to att to figure out this problem and they told me to get a S view case to stop the problem. I didn't like the idea of spending $50 on a case that I don't like but this phone is hanging up on my customers, so I got one. The good thing was they gave me 50% off and I used the isis money to pay for it. I hope they get that this is a problem and fix it soon, I need to use a different case.

This is the problem though, I don't think the screen should come on in your pocket. The proximity sensor should not let the screen comes on till the phone is taken out of your pocket to keep things like what I described from happening.

Same here - really annoying. I have been forced to use the default lock screen (with pattern) due to the screen coming on when i receive a text. If I use slide unlock only, I inadvertently launch apps, change settings, etc. I interact with my phone way too much to be using a pattern every time I pull my phone out of pocket. Extremely annoying, Samsung!

Speaker has weird smudge around it.

So after I got my s5 from att I immediately realized a weird smudge on the left and right side of my front ear speaker. If I clean it with a cloth it disappears and reappears after some light use. Now I am assuming this may be some way the phone protects the speaker from water. However I don't know if other s5 have this as well. It can only be seen on angles while in a good lit room. Looks like finger smudges but doesn't change shape or form only disappears and reappears from wiping it away. Anyone else noticing this or know what it is?

Idk if this is 0art of the glass being edged like that, but when I display something white on my s6 edge I notice the kinda rainbow looking colored lines on edges. To get back on topic, I do not have that issue, however, I did see something similar on mine when I applied a screen protector incorrectly..
It sounds like something that could be a defect assuming it was not caused by something you did..
If you get no good answers here I would recomend you contact an expert.
