Hello guys, I have a problem with my htc m7. During calls, the screen goes off (normally, because of the proximity sensor), but remains responsive. That means I can press accidentally on the end call button, or home button, or any other button for that matter, on screen and capacitive keys.
Now, so you guys don't say that I haven't looked into this, I think I know the trouble maker. I downloaded an app called Gravity Screen so when my phone is in my pocket (upside down and facing the leg), I don't get accidental pocket dials, or when the phone rings, I don't accidentally answer or decline. These pocket dials and answers or rejects happen because I turned off the lockscreen and I have swipe to unlock enabled. Turning off lockscreen means that when someone calls me and the phone is locked, the answer screen is like when the phone was on, meaning buttons for answer/decline instead of the lockscreen swipe to answer/decline, so it's easy for my leg to touch one of the buttons.
This app, Gravity Screen, locks my screen when it's rotated for more than 60 degrees and proximity is detected. Also, the app is allowed to run during calls (because I want it to block my leg dials and answers/rejects). But I think that the app and the stock proximity screen off do not agree to each other, so when I am in a call, even though my screen turns black, it is not actually locked, so every touch is registered.
Finally, my question is: can I do something so this app doesn't conflict with the call screen proximity off? Or is there another app that does what I want, without interfering with the stock proximity features?
I am running ARHD 84 with ElementalX 18, kitkat 4.4.3, sense 6.
Anyone?

Why not simply using pocket detection feature of elementalX and get rid of your app that is in conflict when in call?
Im using double tap to wake + pocket detection and my phone never turns on when in my pocket and no input registered when in call.

I turned on the pocket detection in ElementalX, the phone doesn't wake up in pocket, but when someone calls me and the phone is in my pocket, the screen turns on. This app I have doesn't allow the screen to turn on even when someone calls

Hi there
I'm quite happy with my Nexus One... a very nice change from my old BlackJack 2. However, I have one issue.
When I get an incoming call, sometimes the screen won't wake up at all. Pressing the trackball, etc. does no good. I installed a program called noblock and now it's waking up after the call is over, but the other end has to hang up first.
This has to have something to do with the screen lock in relation to the proximity sensor or something. I'd really love it if I could just set the screen lock to manual, so I can press the power button to turn the screen off and on, getting rid of the slide to unlock screen entirely.
I tried a fix from an older thread to disable the proximity sensor, but it had no effect. It was adding a line (gsm.proximity.enable=false) to build.prop.
Can anyone give me a direction to go? Thanks!
i have some issues with turning my screen on sometimes, it will come on briefly and turn off with just the backlight for capacitive buttons on
2.3.4 ? Are you sure ?
It's some CM nightly ?
Ok so the sensor is VERY sensitive when I make calls. Everytime I call my bank and it asks to enter my account number while it's on speakerphone...my fingers don't even get close to the speaker and my screen shuts off until I put my finger far away.
Is there any way to improve or turn this off? It gets annoying when you are on the phone and trying to multi task and screen keeps turning off even though your not even close to the sensor
That is surprising because proximity sensor should be off when on speakerphone. Did you install any app which could directly affect proximity sensor? Maybe factory reset would fix that.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
Yes it works like that but ur hands to close to the ear piece. Mind does that till I switch hands
BAD ASS NOTE 4 & GEAR S
When Im on the phone with somebody and i receive a text I could never use the scroll option to bring the bar down because of the sensor. What I do is hit the power button on the side of the phone, then hit it again and sign in with my code, then i dont have the sensor problem anymore. I will still be on the phone and Im at the homescreen. Thats the only way around it for me. its real quick too.
Solution
I am on the phone all day and need the screen to not time out because I am on and off the mute button a lot.
I use Call Light to make sure I always have the screen on when on a call.
Hope that helps some.
I've tried a couple of ROMs with double tap to wake. I honestly love the feature, but I've had too many issues with wake locks in my pocket, so I've decided it's not worth it and I'll turn it off. The problem is, it doesn't actually turn off. I'll hit that off switch, tap my screen a few times, and it's awake again. This is frustrating because then it wakes up in my pocket still. Is there any way to permanently remove it from the ROM? Maybe something I can flash or something I can change to completely disable this feature?
Grab /system/lib/hw/power.shamu.so from a pre-rooted (untouched) stock rom or a rom that hasn't enabled it

FWIW, Exodus and I'm sure some other ROMs, have a setting to prevent pocket wake ups by using the proximity sensor.

Are you sure it's not ambient display waking your phone?
Eh... "ambient display" doesn't wake your phone. Ambient display just shows WHEN your phone is awoken by... tap to wake, shake to wake, incoming notification.
OP: Some people confuse tap to wake and shake to wake. Nexus 6 implements shake to wake by default. Problem is that tapping on the screen can.... shake the phone.
This generally should NOT be going off in your pocket. Either, that is. Reason is that it is *supposed* to use the state of the proximity sensor as a CONDITION on whether or not it should start up ambient display. The proximity sensor will read as "near" when the phone is in your pocket, thus prevent tap or shake to wake from triggering ambient display.
So sounds like you probably tried a couple of different sysimages that both contain a bug that stops it from taking the proximity sensor into account. My guess would be something that is based on cyanogenmod (aka "the buggiest android ever conceived"). Try stock and see if the problem goes away.
Personally, I prefer to use a custom ROM with native LED control and disable ambient display.

What part don't you understand?
If you haven't got a modified Nexus 6 with this problem, then this isn't relevant to you.
Is there anyway to remove the Emergency Call button from the lock screen for the Z3 Compact?
The buttons keep getting pressed while the phone is in my pocket...
I don't believe that can be removed. I think phones are required to have the ability to made an emergency call from the lock screen.

I wish they could use proximity sensor to detect this pocket dialing...
Yes... this sucks.... somehow the "Tap to wake up" is much more sensitive than my LG G2....
My phone would constantly be waken up while in my pocket and the emergency dialer would get pressed all the time...
I wish there is a solution for this...
Agreed. I cannot use the double tap to wake either. When walking and listening to podcasts or music I hear a series of tones. When I take my phone out if my pocket I see it has dialed a bunch of numbers.

Same problem. It sucks.
I always use tap to wake but what i do is, i put my phone into my pocket such that the screen does not face the thigh. As in, the screen will face outwards so that there can never be any touch inputs.

Sorry but i don't speak English, anyway...
You can use gravity box with Xposed
In lockscreen tweaks, enable / disable emergency call.
Well, after an accident, my Nexus 6 was dropped to the ground.
And because of that, there were some cracks on the screen.
It is still functioning and usable, but the proximity sensor is no longer working.
The spot in the screen where the proximity sensor is located, it is badly cracked/scratched.
Because of this, during phone call, the screen goes blank and there is no way I can turn it back on.
Sometimes, I need to do something during phone call, like pressing the keypad button.
Is there any solution or workaround to this via software / app? Because I don't want to spend any money replacing the screen.
Probably 3rd party dialer app which can disable the proximity sensore?
Or toggle the screen on / off using volume button ...
Or any other way ...
Thank you.
