As we all know the sensation xl has absolutely no working s-off method which means we cannot install a firmware from another region except a custom rom via recovery.
The official arabic firmware for this device which is
RUU_Runnymede_HTC_ARA_1.08.415.4_Radio_20.5101.30. 0822_3822.10.10.12_M_release_224880_signed.exe
becomes useless on all devices with s-on.
To unlock your bootloader just go here
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
make a free account and follow the step by step guide to get your unlockcode.bin via email and follow last instruction from email to unlock.
Now we have to make root.
Download the root app here
http://www.mediafire.com/?13exw5enqd2z1lz
extract to any folder
enable usb debugging and connect your phone and simply click runme.bat
wait until phone re*****, you have full root access. go to market and install super user fixer.
Now we have to flash recovery.
download recovery from here
http://www.mediafire.com/?x588a90z3jgxz65
extract and copy the recovery.img to your fastboot folder
connect your phone in fastboot mode and run "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
recovery is flashed we can now boot into it.
Now we have to flash runnymedewipe.zip via recovery to erase all including boot.
download wipe from here
Boot in recovery
go to mounts
click mount usb storage
connect to pc
copy this totalwipe to storage
go back from recovery
click install zip from sd card, choose zip to install and select this BinDroid_SensationXL_TotalWipe_2.zip
wait untill all is done.
download this boot and extract to your fastboot folder, boot into recovery and run " fastboot flash boot boot.img"
All is done.
Now will can flash the Rom.
download this rom
http://www.fortuna-md.de/downloads/ANDTopix 1.21 Bravia (Runnymede 1.14.709.2).zip
Boot into revovery and go to mount again, mount usb storage and copy this rom to your storage
go to install zip from sd card and select this rom, wait until it complete scroll to wipe cache and factory reset, all is done.
Now we must flash the arabic patch
http://www.mediafire.com/?73fbopsw4j8d3q2
copy storage and flash again, all is done. your phone can read and write correct arabic.
go to market and search for Dr ben0x
install the keyboard, install morelocale if you want full arabic menu otherwise just open drben0x keyboard from desktop and click enable, check the box, go back, click activate and select drben0x keyboard all is done.
use this app, open and click select predefined locales, select ar and click set. full menu becomes arabic.

Very thorough guide, but a lot of unnecessary steps.
what will happen when I root my incredible s which is already officially updated ICS 4.0 ? Will the official ICS be removed ? If yes, is there a way to not remove my official ICS and just root the phone ? I don't even know if that makes sense !?!
Only Root No ! Install rom yes !
( only root ) yes you can !
( With root you have many more opportunities And access Example ( Back-up and restore), All your settings apps, contacts, etc. ...Saves you a lot of work And time ! And you can optionally install a ROM Suitable for your type of phone

No, unlocking the bootloader will not remove your official ICS ROM, but it will wipe your applications and user data. That is the first step in rooting your ICS ROM.
Other ROMs?
Quick question though: why am I not able to flash other roms besides this MIUI rom? :/
I tried the latest version of MIUI and I kept getting android.phone crashes and when I tried a different ROM (such as Project X or CoolDroid) I'm stuck on a bootloop... Help?

I had no idea I had to do that. All I am doing is installing the rom thru 4ext recovery.
So Should I flash the boot.img contained on each ROM zip file?

Yes, you need to do that every time you flash a new ROM. With the unlocked HBOOT 2.0x version, the boot partition is mounted as READONLY when you are in Recovery Mode flash a ROM.
The boot partition is only mounted Read/Write when it is in FASTBOOT USB mode.

Ice Cold Sandwich or Codename Android.
Both are very similar in terms of bugs, as they have basically the same kernel
1. flash rom
2. flash gapps
3. go to fastboot
4. fastboot flash boot boot.img
5. reboot
Thanks on it

here's what I did (thanks to those fellows who helped me) From stock ICS going to JB (with the old bootloader)
1. re-flash your phone using smartflash cleaner: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1987772 (backup first)
2. If flashing successful, you're into the Gingerbread bootloader. Power ON your phone, in CWM recovery, go to Mount USB, connect phone to PC using usb cable. It'll ask you to format, just press Yes. Internal storage will be formatted.
3. Download ROM (Raum's CM10.1): http://d-h.st/O6P -> this is what I called my base install...after download, rename it to cm-10-20130106-NIGHTLY-p990.zip
4. Download the file here: http://code.google.com/p/openstar2x/...=label:SU660 -> look for the 15A version.
5. Unzip the file 15a. Copy cm-10-20130106-NIGHTLY-p990.zip into 15a folder. Run fixall.bat. If ask what kernel, select option 4. If ask change wireless.ko, type Y. wait until finished. (Y because I got issues with wifi, bluetooth and calls with the stock wireless.ko)
6. Reboot your phone. Back to CWM recovery, again, go to Mount USB, copy cm-10-20130106-NIGHTLY-p990.zip in which it was converted to cm-10-20130106-NIGHTLY-su660-fixed.zip to your internal storage. After copy, install zip file from internal storage, select cm-10-20130106-NIGHTLY-su660-fixed.zip.
7. Should work flawlessly. After that, you can download official CM10.1 nightly, just rename it (same as step 3). You can also download custom kernel for CM10.1 here: http://upfile.vn/4J7n ...flash it after flashing the rom.
8. Enjoy!
hope this helps

i tried to get back to stock recovery, but failed.
anyway to root with CWM?

Here's another way to root your phone. First, download the latest version of superuser in a flashable zip(google 'superuser downloads'). Then place the zip in your phone's sd card. Go to cwm recovery and select 'install zip from sd card'. Before this you might want to back up your rom, just in case something goes wrong. After that go to choose zip from external sd card and find the zip. Install the zip and when installation finished reboot. Your phone will be rooted after doing this.
