Can't root AT&T galaxy s5 with Towelroot

So. I wanted 5o see if anyone else has had this issue or if anyone has another root method I could try. I recently had to get my wife's s5 replaced and after I installed towelroot, and clicked "make it ra1n" I got an error that says the device isn't supported.

Thank you! I will try that when I get home from work.
Ok so just to clarify, I am running a SM-G900A. On baseband ending in ANG3. Towelroot does not support my device, so the above suggestion is the only way to root? And with our bootloader being locked, safetystrap is the only partial recovery we have to flash? I had just got the S5 and it came with the newer OTA update. Thank you in advance.

Yes, everything you said is correct. Flash the ND3 kernel and run towelroot. Install Safestrap as well, and then you can flash the NG3 kernel back to your phone.
Bought my S5 2 days ago with the latest Att ota update like yours. Odin the kernel back, applied towel root, Odin kernel forward to root as described above. Works perfectly. Can install safestrap after or before moving kernel forward.

Deleted OS

Hey everyone-
I'm pretty new and made the mistake of Deleting the operating system off of my Tmobile note 4 after rooting it. I can get into download mode and recovery but that's it.
I searched but couldn't find a comprehensive guide on what to do how to proceed. I don't want to mess it up further. Is there any way one of you could point me towards the right direction or link to the files i need to download and how to proceed.
Thanks to any and all help!
Also- I'm leaving at 3 this morning reporting for pre deployment training for my unit so im on a hugggeee time crunch to get it fixed. So any and all help as soon as you could would be amazing. Thanks again.
Also--
I found the stock 4.4 Firmware on the Samsung website and am downloading it now. Would I just load that into the Odin "pda" slot and hit start to flash it over, or am I forgetting something crucial? Thanks all!

You need to start from scratch and download the official stock Odin flash
N910T Note 4 KitKat 4.4.4 firmware, then flash it using Odin.
There is no other way to do it.
Here is a direct download link for the official Note 4 firmware:
http://tinyurl.com/k9e5bvc (this link may have a few seconds of delay)
Here is a direct download link for Odin:

Once you have odin flashed the official firmware re-root and flash twrp.
That's about it!
Good luck!
I'm having the exact same issue. Downloaded both odin and the firmware but when I open odin the UI flashes on my screen and then closes quickly.

Thanks for sticking around to help me out, but are you sure the firmware goes in the PDA slot? Zip file selection isn't allowed to be put there.
Edit: After refreshing up on the Odin instructions I found you're supposed to use the CF AutoRoot file in the PDA slot. Things just got interesting. Not sure what to do with the firmware and the download links keep stopping for me for some reason.
EDIT2: Now I really messed up. Got impatient trying to figure out what to do and went ahead and ran Odin with just the CF AutoRoot file and it worked but I lost my recovery and now I'm in a bootloop because I still don't have an OS installed. I'm not a smart man.

Inside the zip file you will find a TAR or a TAR.MD5 file, either one is
fine to use with Odin in the PDA slot.
So unzip the zip file and put it into Odin's pda slot.
Good luck!

[Q] Issue trying to restore AT&T Galaxy S5 using Odin

Hey Everyone,
I'm new to this site. I'm using Odin to restore my AT&T Galaxy S5 back to stock and am running into a problem. I can get the stock ROM to apply to the phone with no problems. But when the phone reboots and I get to the Samsung splash screen, the graphic freezes and then the screen goes black.
I've gone into recovery mode on the device and did a factory reset/data wipe and cache wipe before applying the new ROM and am still having the issue.
Here is my device info I'm getting from Odin Mode:
Device: SM-G900A
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
Reactivation Lock(KK): OFF
Knox Warranty Void: 0x0
Qualcomm Secureboot: Enable (CSB)
AP SWREV: S1, T1, A1, A2, P1
Secure Download: Enable
UDC Start
I'm also getting the unlocked padlock on boot with the words "Custom" below it.
Thanks in advance!
-Steve

Hey Archie, thanks for the reply!
Here are the files I've tried:
AP_G900AUCU1ANCE_964333_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
G900AUCU1ANCE_G900AATT1ANCE_G900AUCU1ANCE_HOME.tar.md5
Neither of them work and I end up with the same result.
Thanks!
-Steve
If you are on Official 5.0 OTA DO NOT try this! Will only work on 4.4.2 & 4.4.4.
Your are using the wrong files. Do this,
Download the G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.tar from here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712464416
Use Odin 3.09 and flash in AP slot. Once it is done then take the OTA for NG3 then OA1
Thanks to @muniz_ri
Use the file that the other user posted. I had the same issue that you describe and flashing that file fixed it.
Thank you for the help! I am downloading the file now, and am not on OTA 5.0. I was on OTA 4.4.4 with root and could not get the 5.0 OTA to install. I removed root and recovery and then tried to flash back to stock with the incorrect files. I will let you know the status of my install after I've downloaded the file you've provided me.
Thanks again!

Not out yet. Waiting, but it seems that your post has been looked at 155 times so far today...
What would you do with it anyway? If you Odin it, you won't have root when you get done and if you had root, it won't be there after....POOF...
MAYBE WHEN IT COMES OUT, SOMEONE MIGHT BE ABLE TO PRE-ROOT IT, BUT THEN IT WILL JUST BE CRAPPY STOCK ANYWAY....
I just want the original .zip file to put on the external card and update manually.
When this file does actually come out, do you think it can be used on the pre-installed OF3 firmware? I Realllllly need firmware OF3 or above... Thanks!

NEED??? LOL. Well if it stock OF3, then you can update it because you probably do not have root. If you have root with OF3, that means you used @muniz_ri procedures, and he said a while ago that 5.1.1 probably wont be rootable, but he also recently said he will look at it when/if the file is available , whenever that may be (I am watching several sites). If you are not rooted, you can always try to update thru OTA, when that is available. I will not download it because once it downloads it just updates and that ain't gonna happen on my phone and also because I am on a custom rom and am not willing to even try it unless he can come up with a rooted version which will keep the BL at OA1 so one can go back. For me this would only be a test to see if it was any better than 5.0, but soon after I would go back to my beloved TMS5 3.0 rom. IT'S GREAT!!!

download the .cfg file, rename it update.zip, put it on the root of your external sd card. Then power off the phone and hold vol up+home+power until you see recovery in the corner, then let go of power and volume and keep olding home till you see the recovery menu. use volume down to choose update from sd card and power to select it then find the update.zip file and select it. BTW this will wipe your data so backup whatever you need before hand.

if you are on Kit Kat, then update to OC4 using
Update to oc4 using what? And later, how to update to oi5?
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 (G900A) device with Cricket Wireless service.
I upgraded to OC4 by downloading the OTA update and tried doing the same to OI5 from the link shared in this thread and received 'E: Error in /..../package.zip (status 7)' the following preceding the error. 'Package expects build fingerprint of samsung/...../G900AUCU4BOF3' and then says I'm on G900AUCU3BOC4, which is accurate.
Device is not rooted, nor have any system files been altered.
These are the listed updates on the AT&T website. I don't see OF3 update.
Released 2015 OCT 22: G900AUCU4COI5
Released 2015 AUG 12: G900AUCU2AOA2
Released 2015 JUL 1: G900AUCU4BOF2
Released 2015 APR : G900AUCU3BOC4
Why are they expecting OF3 if they've only released OF2 and OA2 after the OC4 update?
And ... anyone else running into this?
UPDATE: As others have said (from searching) Best Buy can do the update at no charge. That's what a Samsung rep told me and also said since I have the device from AT&T, but service through Cricket Wireless, I will have to get updates from Best Buy and will not get them OTA.
UPDATE2: Saturday I went to Best Buy, they updated my phone to OF3 and I went home and used the file posted earlier in the thread to update to 5.1.1. No issues.

does anyone have these files in Odin-flashable way? I would prefer not to install a Custom Recovery and I am stuck on NG3 because ATT won't allow me to upgrade as my SIM is from a different carrier.
