I have a SM-G925V I'm trying to recover. Currently it's only able to get to download mode (Power - Home - Volume Down) and maintenance mode (Power - Volume Up - Volume Down). When you power it on you see the first splash screen then reboots over and over. Unable to get to recovery mode at all (Power - Home - Volume Up).
In download mode, using this I can get Odin 3.10.6 to successfully flash the firmware from the same thread and when it reboots it boot loops again. Also, tried the firmware from this thread.
I also tried using Odin 3.07 and 3.09. Both of these versions get stuck at <ID:0/005> NAND Write Start!! with the box at the top saying "Set Partition". Both versions will however, let you re-partition using the .pit file located in the first thread linked.
In maintenance mode, all of the options instantly reboot the phone and start the boot loop again.
Samsung's Smart Switch says "Unsupported device".
The screen shows this in download mode:
Code:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G925V
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
Secure Download: Enabled
AP SWREV: 1
Kernel AP SWREV: 1
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, pretty much willing to try anything at this point. I should also mention I did everything above on 2 separate computers, both running Windows 7 Pro and 2 different cables, cause that's always the problem right?

Not 100% sure but I think they were trying to flash it back to stock using the same method I'm trying now.

Downloaded OE2 from sammobile. Same result.
Side note: It doesn't have a .pit file. Do they normally come with one stock? I'd like to try another .pit file and see if I can get Smart Switch to recognize the phone again.

Yes I thought the firmware package included the partition table, but I could be wrong. I can't seem to find any .pit file for our variant on its own.
I am still curious to know what caused it in the first place, as it sounds like everything you have tried should have worked. Other than flashing the wrong variant firmware in Odin, or a corrupt .tar, I wonder how that could have caused a bootloop. And even then, if you can get into download mode, the correct full Odin package (as you tried) should have fixed it. Tried other comps, check. Tried other cables, check. Did you make sure you were plugged into primary USB ports? Did you check the md5s of the Odin packages?
I'll let you know if I run into a standalone .pit file, otherwise I am sorry I couldn't be of more help. Keep us posted though.

At the start of this, I did run into a USB problem. I couldn't flash at all on my desktop from my USB 3.0 front header. Works on the 2.0 front header and all of the motherboard headers. So I ruled that out by accident at least. The MD5s check out. I'm going to keep searching for a pit file that goes with the OE2, or at least find out why it's not in the firmware from sammobile. Know another source for OE2?
Without another partition file or firmware I can flash from Odin, some social engineering with the Verizon store may be the next step.

Hello - It seems as though everyone is somewhat nice and knowledgeable on this board. I'm hoping that no one flogs me in the process of this thread.
I have a T-based Galaxy Tab and am trying to load a new ROM onto it. I've tried multiple times with multiple different ROMs but am not making really any progress. When I plug in the device to a wall outlet, the attached screen is displayed. This is the first time that I've seen this screen and I'm now hoping that this thing isn't bricked. Please help me bring this Tab back from the dark side.
I need to know which ROM to use and the appropriate PIT file. I also need to just understand how I get the device to be recognized by Odin again as it's not being recognized in it's current state. Thanks to all that will help me.
Jim
hi,
can you tell me which firmware files are you using to flash and the PIT files?
Yes. I used the below files. I know it's the European version but it looked as though it was for TMobile. And I'm somewhat desperate to get this fixed.
PIT - P1_EUR.pit
PDA - P1000BOJJ2-REV03-ALL-CL618963.tar
MODEM - MODEM_P1000XXJID.tar
CSC - GT-P1000-CSC-DTMJJ4.tar
Downloaded them from samfirmware.com/samsungtablets.htm

i guess the issue is due to the incompatible firmware and a different partitioning file (PIT)
may be you can try installing JHA firmware with repartition, PIT file and then install JID directly without repartition and PIT
Not wanting to be pessimistic here but after browsing the Galaxy S section I came across a thread with that image on your tab. You may have to contact Samsung and have the device replaced. http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S_Series#Recovery_Mode
Storm, Chow,
I think you may be right. I followed the instructions that Chow gave me and it failed. See attached. I still have the Tab attached to my pc and it still has the same image as original. I've attached my Odin screen so you guys can look at it and tell me if I'm doing anything wrong.
Jim
Hi,
I had that image many times, whenever my tab fails to install any new firmware.
did you reboot the tab after seeing that image
one more try:
after seeing the flash fail > hold the three button combination (power + volume down + home) for long time (may be more than 1 minute) until the tab is switched off and then use three button combination (power + volume down + home) to enter the download mode (you will still see the above image only). now connect the tab to odin and try flashing it.
if i remember correctly, my tab was connected to COM 8 when flashing but i think its USB port selection
this is how i recover my tab to working mode whenever a flash fails
Have you tried with Odin 1.31 with PIT 816 and JHA.tar selecting repartition? In the pic you are using the 1.71, right? I had something similar going back to JID from JJ4 and when I tried with the 1.31 it passed, cant be sure it wasnt just 'the one more try' or the old Odin but it worked.
Good luck

I used the Odin 1.3 per your instructions and used th 816 PIT with the JHA tar. This passed as you can see from the attached. This has worked and I now have a working unit that needs to charge up. I'm a little nervous to now install the JID firmware and will likely just try to keep what I've got working. If I do want to install the JID firmware...will I need another PIT file or can I just use the JID firmware and write over? In addition, would i need to select or unselect the re-partition check box.
Thank you guys so much. It appears as though my unit is working.

I quote.
I had that bad image on the screen for some time... If you connect to the PC you should find the TAB as connected in ODIN. If you flash JHA repartioning with the correct PIT, that for me was 9 and something if I remember, you should restore normal functionality. Try and let me know!
Can confirm.
Had this image several times while testing var firmwares.
Simply connect tab to odin and flash jha image with repartition.
This should fix it.

So, this one contains a bootloader (Sbl.bin). maybe thats the cause of the problem. Still, I wonder why it started in the first place and then after some reboots it gets stuck. I tried different Kernels with no luck. Maybe I should try to flash a new bootloader? However, that could brick the device forever.

I have a very similar problem.
I flashed the [ROM] Roto JMI Pre-Rooted Firmware v2 [Feb 4, 2011], and got stuck on the Samsung Boot screen.
Now, I can't even get the Downloading mode to work. It opens fine, but Odin/Heimdall doessn't detect the Tab at all.
Hopefully, someone knows what's going on. If not, I'm taking it back to my carrier, and asking them to fix it (assuming they'll fix it).
Maybe this will help for the bootloader.
Its a bootloader patch. Please read thru the thread. Hope it helps.

Dont get what you mean by that. You cant get it to download mode but your tab start up fine?
Download mode = press vol down + power pn button.
As for odin/heimdall doesnt detect the tab it could be usb port (some reports in android development thread) or could be usb drivers.
As i need to switch usb drivers when i need to flash my tab & my dell streak.
Hope it helps to start you off.

I meant that I can get into Download mode, with the Downloading logo, but doesn't get detected by Odin. And it stays stuck on the Samsung boot logo if turned on normally. Can't get into recovery either.
Before I flashed the Roto ROM, Odin was working perfectly fine. I've been flashing other kernels and ROMs before. But now, the USB doesn't even seem to get detected. It's like nothing is plugged in. Can't even choose to install/uninstall old/new drivers.
I dont think it's the USB port, as I've tried to connect to Odin on 3 different computers, trying every available port on each. It's looking like the USB connector is just dead or something.
My tabs mainboard was broken, it was replaced and now it works again.

Same problem here man. I CAN get in to download mode. Odin recognize it normally. I CAN download normally. Look likes everything is normal, but after update it restarts, but hangs on Galaxy Tab Samsung logo. I've tryed everything with different firmware, custom-roms, hacking things, but with no success.
Can someone please help me?
Same problem here. My tab is stuck at samsung galaxy logo and until now, no one could provide an answer.
I flashed some ROM from samfirmware that must of locked the bootloader (JMF). Then I tried to flash JM6, JMA, JMC, JMK, JJ4, JJ7, JM5, JJ1, JID and almost all ROTO's. with and without pit files using ODIN 1.7. I also tried a stock ROGERS ROM (that i downloaded from this forum) using Heimdall. The tab always boots to samsung galaxy tab logo. I've done alot of reading in this forum and followed many flashing instructions but when applied, it doesn't work for me.
My main concern: is there still hope with the tab ? or it's gone forever.
Is there any specific order that i must follow when flashing ? ( ie, flash one specific ROM before another). The tab was canadian that was flashed to euro.
Thanks for reading my post.
the dbdata file is corrupted.
1) download this file
http://forum.xda-dev...98&d=1290261479
2) extract it
3) use Odin to flash it under the PDA option
-make sure repartition is UNCHECKED
-do not select any pit file
-leave everything else the same

Hello,
I have a Verizon S6 Edge, that I need help with. My phone was working fine and yesterday, all of a sudden it turned on, and is now stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Powered by android" screen. It does not go past that. I can't even turn the phone off. I just have to wait for it to die. The phone has never been rooted and I've always just done OTA updates on it. I went to a local Best Buy to get it reflashed with the latest firmware but that still hasn't fixed it. I cannot access the recovery menu, only the download mode. I can also access maintenance mode which gives the option for Normal Boot, factory reset, safe mode, and USB Debugging. I have tried all those options but nothing different happens. I have downloaded the latest firmware from XDA and tried to flash it with ODIN and nothing happened there either. Any help is appreciated, I just don't want to throw my phone away. (I bought it last August)
Thanks!

did you by chance use a pit file for odin as well as a full tar?

try to repartition it using odin or you can always try samsung smart switch emergency repair option etc.

I didn't use any PIT files or anything. I just downloaded the stock OK7 firmware and put that in AP on odin, plugged my phone in under download mode and the update seems to go through fine but it still just boot loops. Doesn't go past the Galaxy S6 Edge screen. However, when I did that, there is now a padlock on my screen when it boots up and it also says custom under it and system status also says custom.

custom padlock should go away after fresh install of a full odin tar which should be ~1.9gb zip before extracting it

Hi all,
I was running Custom ROM on my Galaxy Note 5. (Minosauras ROM v10)
Suddenly today morning the display was garbled with coffee stain pixels and while tried powering on I also had vertical glitch.
No recovery , no download mode
I tried connected to ODIN. I could do it.
Downloaded Stock firmware and flashed it.
Alas ! No chance of life.
a) can anyone give me PIT file for Indian version 32GB.
I tried using N920G UUB and ZTO pit file.
Now I have problems flashing system.img which clearly means I have been using the wrong pit file.
Can anyone support me out of this hard brick ?

What does 'No recovery; no download mode' even mean? Pit file doesn't fix the bricked phone but correct the pit(csc) mapping. Do you exactly know how to get into download mode though? If your display has been damaged, it still can get into download mode by the correct button combination.

Hi , The problem is the display is garbled and the LED was showing various colors.
I tried recovery button combination to force into recovery. It didnt work.
I tried download mode (No download symbol)
But got a attachment to ODIN (COM 1: Blue)
I assumed that the bootloader is corrupt and loaded entire firmware through ODIN.
Everything was OK. But no display yet.
I tried starting using power button (Nothing on display)
Now I try PIT file.... System.img failed flashing.
Tried loading TWRP recovery; adb found 2 devices a) Device b) Recovery
Tried using Heimdall.
Now ODIN fails after using pit file once which failed.
Mine gets detected in ODIN and that is all the life it has.

If you used an incorrect PIT file when you really didn't need to then you probably corrupted your entire partition table..

Yeah I understood that.
Now I need the correct pit file for my ROM to repartition it.
Should I repartition through dd tool only ?
Anyhow since my patience went away, I threw it down a service center.
Service center called me up and said display is back, but couldnt restore my note.
Calls for mother board change ! So I got it thrown back to me !!
It seems now my display is back , can anyone help me in getting my note repartitioned ?

Hello everyone- I hope someone can give me some advice i haven't tried yet on my issue. This is my first post and i searched through a million forums for ideas, my apologies if i missed anything or if anything below is unclear. I tried to list everything out that i have tried in case i missed anything.
Note 9 - SM-N960U (TMB) went into a boot loop randomly (possible after a Samsung update as it happened overnight).
Steps I've taken so far:
- Tried the normal steps first as instructed by Samsung, clear cache-partition, factory reset device etc - still stuck in boot loop.
- Took phone to authorized Samsung service center, they could not fix. phone now on blue screen "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC Software"
- Smart switch recovery software would not recognize the phone, updated drivers multiple times, still no detection.
-Downloaded stock TMB firmware from SamMobile (N960USQS9FUG2) - Tried to flash with Odin (versions 3.13 and 3.14 - patched and unpatched) kept getting stuck at vendor.img.ext4 in CSC file or system.img.ext4 in the AP file.
-Tried to Re-Partition without Pit file and with the pit file - PIT file name: CROWNQLTE_USA_SINGLE.pit - Odin would get stuck on same files.
-Tried to re-partition with Nand Erase selected and Pit file attached - Odin would freeze at setting the partition.
Is there anything else i can try or is this phone officially a paper weight?
You are able to flash firmware from the emergency screen. When one of my devices did this I was able to get things up and running with Odin flash from that screen. I can't remember what partition was broken when it happened on my Note 8, but the only way to fix was putting in new mother board. I'm not saying go this route. Might try combination firmware. I'm sure someone will chime in if I am wrong. I tried to flash stock on my SM-N950U after being rooted. It would show pass in Odin but would never boot..just bootloader. As I said above my only option was new motherboard. I wish I could find the message from a developer that helps me a ton, and which partition it was that was the issue. If I find it I will let you know.

Thanks for the reply @butchieboy, If you find those messages i would definitely appreciate it! I should have specified that i was able to run the Odin flash from the recovery page. That's a good idea to try combination firmware, never done it before though. Would i just try an older AP or CSC with the up to date other files? or just a combination of old and new and see if something happens?
Overall i think i may be in the boat you were in with your Note 8- something seems seriously wrong with the memory partitions that seem like it may be unfixable via flash. i'll have to see if i can find a motherboard that's worth the price to see if it's worth it at this point.
Combo firmware needs be on same bootloader that you are currently on
