What are the parts inside the sim cover? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone explain please what are these parts?
When you open the sim flap theres a green line thing and sort of a paper inserted in two lined holes..
Anyone knows what are they?

the green i dont know but the "paper" one is the informations of the phone (imei, fabrication date, etc) I just have to pull it
See in here:
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/imag...D9D8053B9B/image-size/original?v=mpbl-1&px=-1

The green one looks like a piece of the motherboard that protrudes.

Ohhh cool! If you pull it out can you push it back in? Or its ruined?
And I think the green one is indicating if that part as gotten wet and the green will turn red..

Yes, if you pull it out then you can push it back in. No problem.

No - the white square is the water detector - it turns pink when wet. I have no idea what the green piece is for.

oh.. never mind I was more curious about the white paper.. I was afraid to pull it out..

The green one is almost certainly a protruding part of the motherboard. I took a look at the phone this time - if you open the cover and look at the nanoSIM slot, you'll see that the same "green" is continuing there and the slot is mounted on it. Not sure why it's protruding, but maybe the external plastic works as a kind of "placement lock" for the motherboard in this corner.

You get it wet at all? Bring it into the bathroom while you took a shower? Been anywhere extremely humid?

Check your LDI under the battery (or wherever they put it). If it's still white call T-Mobile and get it replaced.
....but a word to the wise, there is another LDI inside the phone that can only be accessed by taking the phone apart. If the LDI has changed color on the inside, they will bill you with out of warranty regardless of the outside LDI.
like the guy before me said, check the water damage sticker to the right of the battery connector prongs on the wall. if it's white call t-mo. if it's pink/red PM me and i'll let you know how to try to fix it

the sticker is white, and i did sent it to tmobile, and since i have a scratch where i dropped the phone a long time ago, they wont fix it, the scratch had nothing to do with the buttons, now i did have it inside of that cover it came with in my pocket so i believe i may have broke it that way, but i was thinking i can buy a full case housing with the keypad from ebay and try to fix it, it will be worth the try, if not i will just have to pay tmobile for a replacement, i cannot live without my g1

If the silver is wearing off of the "HTC" logo on your back cover...

You can peel the letters off, and it actually looks pretty good.
I somehow had gotten into the habit of rubbing the "HTC" logo on the back while holding my phone, and started to wear off the silver paint. I decided I wanted the letters either all silver or all bronze (the color underneath), so I tried using my nail to scrape off the paint. Instead, the letter peeled off! Even more surprisingly, it actually looks pretty good. If you do this, make sure you peel the letters off and the little adhesive film underneath them as well (it looks kind of shiny, peel it off and you'll have the nice matte coloring of the back cover).
Yeah my letters ended up just falling off. It doesn't look bad though, I was just kinda surprised when they started to come off.
yeah the letters from my black battery cover and my white battery cover both fell off.
surprisingly my red battery cover is still perfect, I've had it for quite a while now and the letters from that one are still there
My "H" actually broke in half and the "T" has been missing for something. I was thinking about doing this.

I have 2 covers - the regular one and the extended battery. The extended one still has the letters but the more I look at them the more i want to take them off. Or maybe I'll try dying them red to match the case. The regular cover has had the letters off for a long time
Did this fairly easy on my extended cover. Just dug my finger nail at the edges of the letters and they popped off.

Yup same here. The only thing is I think of my red cover as my Ferrari cover, so I only use it when I'm going out and want to show off. It still doesn't have a scratch on it. For the rest of the times I just use either my stock battery cover and if I'm going to be out for awhile I use my extended battery with the big cover.
Happened to me too, but I have to say, kinda looks nicer(?)
My HTC logo is still fine but my red camera eye fell off. Official word...looks like ****.

Yeah, the HTC is fine on mine, but the red camera eye fell off.
Really annoying when I remove the case, which thankfully I do not have to do too often.
I actually liked the silver but last time I was in Cabo they all started to come off because I had left the phone out in the sun with the back side up. I thought about coloring them red maybe but its hard to make it look good and find something that you know will stick to the rubberized case.
Anyone know where to find the silver or a red set of the HTC letters that would fit the Dinc?

My original back started cracking and and lost some pieces. The letters were also falling off.
I ended up getting this back.

Same as the stock one and it fits perfect.
I put on a otterbox immediately after buying my phone and never even noticed the lettering. I actually kind of like the phone without the silver lettering after seeing the image of it.
i hope mine never comes off, but it would still look decent, i see.
One of the edges of the "T" was sticking out and scratching me so I just took them out with an exacto, contemplated filling it in with red nail polish or something but never got around to it.
I had the H start peeling up at random on a very humid day and just pulled it all off. It actually does look rather clean without it! Just needed a little cleaning from where the glue was.
I colored mine in with a fine point Sharpie, white. Then colored over than in bright red. It looks a bit amateur but I don't have the most steady hands. I'll post pics in a few.

Solved

And was wondering. Is the camera flash on all N1's a really bright bright blue? I'm not sure if the flash on mine is messed up or not but it is so blue you can't even take pictures with it.
Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance.
Flash is white, very bright but white
Hmm.. Well here is a picture I took with my N1. I assure my flash is not white. How can I change this?

your led burnt the paint that covers it and makes it white, that's because the real led underneath is blue. It was probably on for a long long time. Also, if you scratch the led it turns blue.
you can often find replacements on ebay

it is a very simple fix

[Q] is this the water damage indicator or 'void' indicator?

Hello just purchased one from ebay and upon opening the back, I see red inside of a hole along the bottom of the phone, right next to the stylus. is this the water damage indicator or one of those the warranty 'void' indicator when someone opens the phone ?
thank you in advance!
I hope not because mine too is orange, and ive just sent it off for repair due to broken charger port !
If its water damaged, Im screwed cause they wont fix it !! Not that my phone has ever got wet, Although ive used it in the bathroom when showering.
i dont think its a water damage indicator. it seems a part of the touch button ribbon connectors

i have an AT&T version in front of me and there's no 'red' looking thing inside that hole, so I'm just skeptical. thanks.
I am not sure, but I am sure they are all over the back cover. Not sure if that's the only places.
I have black version and its not orange and I have opened it up.

there is nothing external to see except on some batteries. 2 are located on the back housing just below the headphone jack and it is white with blue xxxxx the other is just to the side of the bottom speaker and its just white... there is also one white one under the motherboard
hope this helps...
be sure to check the screws for markings, paint, so you know which go where. Lol.
Note if you have water damage, dont do this, unethical. If its a false positive. Then commence. Its all about ethics.

I was wondering if anyone was able to confirm if the hole with the red is a water indicator or some type of seal.Or part of the insides.
I can not seem to find a definite answer by the internet where the indicators are as i noticed this my self on my handset.

scratched my black one :(

Hey all, I dropped my black one against some metal and the back got scratched to the point where you can see the aluminum underneath. Anybody have any experience with this and how to possibly hide it so it's not as obvious? I was thinking a black marker might cover it up but I don't want to get the wrong tint of black and make it look even worse.

I've seen recommendations for black markers. I'm surprised you can actually see the silver aluminum. Thought they had some kind of multi layer black thing going on. Hmm.
Do try the black marker on a VERY small area. wait for it to dry and see whether it works well.
Otherwise if you're still within 30 days of ur phone's purchase. Find even the most minor of defects and bring it in to a store. Maybe they'll accept an exchange.. :S That's all I can recommend :'(
Wait to get other replies first though! Maybe someone else has better experiences (I'm here with a silver One)
I have the black One and tried using a black permanent marker to cover a mark at the top edge. I did not really care about colour differences since my scratched is very small, but my makeup did stay even I waited until it was dried to handle the phone.
I have heard people saying a marker bought from halfords, that's a car shop by the way if you are not in UK. The pen is used to hide car imperfection and can stand rain, dust, and etc, so it must be much tougher to remove.
If you are not sure about colour, yes, I would suggest try a small area first, but if you do have a long scratch it would be difficult to find the perfect colour.
Keep up updated if you find a good pen, so I will stock one as well.

Sounds painful
Finally worked up the courage to buy some paint and go ahead with the paint job. Thought I'd give you guys an update. I bought some Tamiya XF-1 paint, it's supposed to be matte black ink for plastic models. So after the drop my phone looked like this.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1308152/phone paint job/IMG_20130531_210230.jpg
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1308152/phone paint job/IMG_20130531_210315.jpg
I used a toothpick to pick up a drop of the paint and blob it on each scratch. Then I used a moist kitchen toilet to scrub away the paint that didn't get into the scratches. End result is this.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1308152/phone paint job/IMG_20130531_211936.jpg
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1308152/phone paint job/IMG_20130531_212012.jpg
Overall I'm pretty happy with the result. You can still see the silver surface pop up at some angles and I'll probably do another few passes of the paint and scrubbing to try and get it perfect.
