Do any of you guys have this saying in *#*#7378423#*#* service menu configuration part? Because it bothers me, it won't show available bands and i think somethings wrong but phone is working perfectly fine and i dont expirience any network issues whatsoever...
Phone is running .28 version of 5.0.2. LP, rooted with xposed and recovery, locked BL. This happens everytime i root it. Picture as attachment..
Anyone else has this? Is this abnormal and an it be solved somehow?
Mine isn't rooted, and shows normally.
Xposed or something else might be interfering with this, if you say it only appears when rooted. Not sure if just with displaying info or anything functional.

hey,
I had 4.2.2 in my 5503. Couple days ago I decided to upgrade it to 4.3 using flashtool, because there wasn't official 4.3 for my region yet . After that, I noticed my led and NFC are dead. Led isn't working (no flash when making pics, not working as a flashight). NFC unchecks just after when I click on it. Tried: downgrade, delete/rename usf (like in xperia z), many others official roms. tried fix and upgrade by SUS and SPCC. No changes. Also tried CM11 4.4, but still led is dead, NFC option can't be even marked. Now I'm on rooted 4.3. Any ideas how to bring them back? And no, backup doesn't exist
waw that's not cool.. do you erase the whole system when you flash?

Yes. I thought it is better to have clean instal. Habit of installing roms on old phone. Everything else seems to work fine. I'm out of ideas.
hmm it's weird dude. well I suggest :
ensure that you bootloader is locked
do a fresh full flash with all wipes
do a reset in settings > backup & reset
then go into service menu > service tests > flash led
for the service menu, at the stock dialer, type : *#*#7378423#*#*
if it still doesn't work after this, I'm afraid this is hardware related.

Did that many times. To have clear conscience I connected phone to another usb. formated, flashed .67 with wipes. After reset, in service menu led is still dead. connected to pc, updated with SUS to .569. and same story. I'm sure they were working before 1st flash and upgrade. If this is hardware problem, should NFC unchecks itself just after I click on it?
Ehh I suppose, I have to deal with it. There is no cure for my zr
ps. in /system/app/ I can see ncf.apk & nfc.odex only. That's it, right?
well I don't know mate, did you ever unlocked the BL? It may be drm related also

NFC firmware needs update?
I got my ZR a few weeks ago, it came with 4.1.2 on it.
Straight away I hooked it up to PC companion and it updated to 4.2.2, during the first reboot I got a message on the screen for quite a while: "Updating NFC firmware"
I then had problems and thought it was due to 4.2.2, I downloaded & flashed a 4.1.2 ROM, once again, on the first reboot I got the "Updating NFC firmware" message.
Then I realized that the problems weren't due to 4.1.2 and flashed 4.2.2 again, once again got the "Updating NFC firmware" message.
This might not be much use to you but it seems to me that the NFC firmware needs to match the version of Android you're running.
Sorry, no idea how to update it manually, just thought it's something you might like to investigate.
Maybe start here ....

Ilko, yes. BL was unlocked. I had thought, drm can be involved with it. If yes, I'm pretty ***. I don't see any other explanation. many official roms. repairs by sus and companion. checked in buildprop editor, and everything looks ok.
alan573819, when I bought mine it was 4.1.2 also. Couple weeks later upgrated it to 4.2.2. but I don't remember that NFC dialog. I just don't remember, so it doesn't mean I never had it it was long time ago. I know that topic. Believe me, I know them all I'm silent reader xda since se k800i. Always found answers without asking. Until now.. I had to register, because no1 have same problem. with z, there is problem only with NFC (no1 complains about led), and they can fix it by deleting usf. It doesn't work for me. anyway, on 4.2.2 I had no problems with NFC or led. everything worked perfect until I decided to upgrade it to 4.3 with flashtool.
my phone was unlocked, rooted, had .310, .67, .569 for at least 3 different regions, had CM11 4.4, was repaired and upgraded by SUS and Companion. No changes. It just has to have something with drm, because I don't believe that hardware was broken during update. drm can explain it. but.. that's weird if NFC and especially led has something to do with it.
okay, then did your ever relocked it? backed up TA? restored it?
Made in ZR
yes, I have relocked zr.
Like I said before, I didn't make any backups. Didn't expect any problems so I just wiped and flashed my phone. On the other hand- who expects them? . I can risk with my own phone. If I do something for others, I always do backups, double checks etc.
Hello Everyone...
Posting here first rather than in the "Update Failure" thread because I'm not so sure I have a "failure" with the update....just an issue after the udpate.
I have 2 cloned HTC M9 phones. I say "cloned" as they are exactly the same make, model, ROM, etc (one business, one personal phone). They have the following information if needed:
Sprint HTC M9
SuperSU Free v2.65
Custom ROM ViperOneM9 3.5.0 with no custom kernal
Android 5.1
HTC Sense 7.0
Kernal (standard) 3.10.49-perf-g26c593c

SMP PREEMPT
I updated some apps this as I normally do through Google Play. A little while afterward I was prompted to update the SU Binary. I did so on one of my phones. I hit the TWRP option (on the right side of the prompt screen), nothing happened, phone did not reset so I rebooted into recovery. The update ran automatically and the phone rebooted.
I noticed two issues (perhaps there are more). The huge problem is that I cannot make OUTGOING calls. I use a custom dialer PixelPhone Pro. I click on a contact to dial and nothing happens. I type in number to dial, hit the green "send" button to make the call, nothing happens.
I also tried the stock Phone app....same thing, cannot dial out.
I attempted to update the Profile and PRL for the phone, however, as that appears to need to make a "special call" that function is not working either
The other problem I noticed is with an app I have called Quick Settings. The app is always accessible through the pull-down notifications on the phone. Although the app is still installed and functional, it no longer appears in the pull-down notifications. I tried to reset the option to show it there (turning the option off and back on) and it will not show up despite the proper setting chosen.
I still have full root access as I tried a couple root apps (such as Titanium Pro) and have full root access.
I have been prompted on my other phone to update the SU Binary and I am concerned with doing so. Any idea why this is happening and how I can troubleshoot and fit my outgoing call issue??
THANK YOU all very much!!
Scott
Hey guys....
Anyone else have this issue or similar?? So what are my options....how do I get my phone back to being able to make calls??
Thank you for your help....

**UPDATE**
Still problems....
Right after I first updated the binary the "only" problem was that I could not make calls which I could use the other functions of the phone. I rebooted the phone and I cannot reach any function of the phone because I constantly get the message "...the process com.android.phone has stopped" obviously related to the previous problems.
I dirty-flashed the ROM...that did no help. I even tried to flash an older SuperSU version (I don't know what that would have done....I'm running on HOPE now ) and that didn't help. Re-dirty-flashed the ROM a second time. Again that didn't help.
I flashed an old backup and THAT WORKED fine. Problem is that the backup is 6 months old. I could quit and totally clean/wipe/install the ROM and start again from scratch but I reeeeeeallly don't have time for that at the moment.
Is there ANY way I can simply get my com.android.phone process back?? Why did all this happen in the first place??
ANY help is greatly appreciated!! THANK YOU!!!
It happens randomly when using the phone (it doesn't happen when it's locked). The phone just freezes then restarts randomly.
I tried to find a pattern when this is happening, and found there isn't much of a pattern, but it won't let me add a fingerprint lock (crashes after the 3rd / 4th reading).
I've tried to factory reset and clear cache. I'm running out of options and am preparing to flash a stock ROM via Odin. I'd like to avoid this, since it'll trip knox and this is a new phone so I wanted to avoid flashing anything for now.
Any suggestions, ideas?
I'd say this is a kernel related crash, since it doesn't give any error, just goes out. But I hope I'm wrong.
Baseband: N920CXXU2BPD5
Build Number: MMB29K.N920CXXU2BPD6
Knox untripped.
EDIT: This seems to be a rule: it always crashes when I get to 32% of adding a fingerprint lock.
Here's an update:
Tried flashing other stock ROMs for other regions, still the same problem.
Flashed a custom kernel, still the same problem. -> Not a kernel problem
Flashed TWRP and used it for some time (to test if the phone will do the same). No problem whatsoever. I'm convinced that this is a firmware issue then.
Tried flashing every possible combination of everything. Nothing seems to have any effect. This isn't a software problem.
It's probably a faulty motherboard. The rebooting subsided though.
I'd also like to add that the S Pen holding area (the place where the S Pen is kept inside the phone) has a specific electronic smell (kindda like the soldering smell, but not quite). Really weird.
I voided my warranty by flashing stuff, so I'll probably be looking at a motherboard replacement if anyone's wondering.
Do u have xposed install?
Nah.
I've been running the stock rom for 90% of the time.

U solved it already? Mine used to have this problem before but its xposed that cause (in my case :highfive
Still haven't.
I'm almost certain it's a faulty motherboard.
Hello,
I have a motorola G6 that after bad root get stuck on bootloop.
I flash the phone with two roms but the phone after flash dont have sound during calls, the earpice dont work even in loudspeaker, but the phone rings when is receving calls.
anyone already have this problem?

This question is probably in the wrong section but anyway...I did. I never checked the phone prior to rooting so I'm not sure if a "bad root" was the cause or not. However, I experienced the exact same problem as you. I was originally on build OPS27.82-19-4 so I reflashed stock OPS27.82-19-4 as described here. But I still had the same problem. On a whim I randomly flashed build OPS27.82-19-4 following the same instructions. The phone has been working great ever since (I have it rooted, xposed. etc...). Not sure why there was a problem, or if reflashing the newer build "fixed" it or not...but as I said, all is good now. FWIW, when I check the sim status in settings>about phone, the network section is blank. It was blank when I had problems too.
Perhaps this will help you..
PS When I reflashed the firmware, the phone would boot into fastboot mode, then when I selected "Start" it would boot to the OS. If you run into that, here is how it was fixed. See posts 5, 6, 7, & 8.
Good luck!
I had a similar problem, I did the root, TWRP, I ended up giving up and flash again on the stock of the bike G6 Play (Brazil) available here in XDA, to my surprise, he made and received calls normally, the speaker for music and connections of other applications (Whatsapp, Messenger, Hangouts, etc.), but it did not work for the rom dialer.
I thought I had a problem, it was when a system update appeared, I installed it and it worked again.
I figured it was some rom bug I installed.
Tanks for the help.
I solved the problem flashing the phone with flashrom.bat instead of put the comand one by one.

That's because a custom rom or GSI does not have all the necessary files. 99.9% of the time, flashing stock will fix a problem.
Hello, I had tried posting this where I assume it belongs but I can't seem to post anywhere but here. Anyways, today me and a friend rooted his ROG Phone 2 via rooted ROM we had found here. Everything had gone to plan, unlocked the boot loader with Asus's tool, fastboot the custom ROM, ran Magisk and let it update, confirmed root with it and a cheapo Play Store root checker, all was good.
First issue, WiFi didn't work, but no big deal, unlimited data. Then he discovered that sound didn't work, so I immediately looked it up, didn't find a post specific to his phone but someone mentioned the mic not working in the one I read, gut feeling I told him to check the mic, loe and behold, not working.
He doesn't want to have to reset to factory ROM and lose the root. Ant idea what's wrong? I could find the post we followed if requested before I find and post it anyways.
As mentioned it's the new Asus ROG Phone 2
Model
ZS660KL
The 512GB/12GB RAM
As far as I'm reading is there shouldn't be any exact issues and is no particular reason. We read later on in the comments, someone had the WiFi issue but the OP assured his didn't have the issue.
WiFi isn't a major need, again, data. But the sound and mic is a huge issue as it's his daily. I'm familiar with rooting and custom ROMs, mainly Samsung's. I'm quite confused, I've never had a major issue with a ROM that doesn't have a simple work around.
What firmware version is he on? He has to make sure that the magisk-patched boot image matches the firmware he has installed or he will have issues like the ones you describe with WiFi, sound, and possibly abnormally long boot times.
This is a boot image issue
Had the same issue when rooted.. i flashed the ww rom again to unroot my device now everything works. Hopefully someone can give a solution
He's working on patching a fresh ROM from Asus, that's the only idea he can make right now.
