Hi,
Since I could not find a Galaxy Tab 7 Plus subforum I figured it shouldn't be a problem to post right here.
I've just bought a Galaxy Tab 7 Plus from amazon and I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a keyboard dock for it. Additionally I was wondering about a nice leather case with a stand for it. I've checked a lot of them on amazon and ebay but since the Plus version is slimmer than the regular 7 version I was not sure if it would fit properly.

I'm having the same issue with trying to find a case. I think they're probably not around yet because the tablet wasn't expected to be released for another 10 days. As far as the keyboard goes, there's a sheet that's bundled up with the warranty guide that has a cool looking keyboard dock from Samsung. I haven't been able to find it on their website though.

It's good to know about the keyboard dock. I have yet to receive my GT7 Plus, so I could not check out all the accessories. Hopefully they should not take long to start hitting ebay.

Totally agree.
Looks like someone started a thread in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 forum. I think they've been able to root it and get rid of some of the bloatware...

Hi all,
To avoid unnecessary clutter on this and the 10.1 forum, rather than simply posting +1, head here and vote for the Galaxy Tab 7 Plus.
The more people you get to vote there, the more likely you will be to get your own forum. Posting +1 in this thread won't get you any recognition so head on over to the linked thread and have your voice heard!!

Good call. Just voted.
I have the original 7" Tab and received the new Plus a couple of days ago. The original 7" Tab keyboard does NOT fit the new Plus, because the Plus is too wide (barely, but just enough to keep it out of position).
I found on the Samsung site that they will be selling the new Plus keyboard dock but it is not yet in stock. Price point will be $79.99.

I'd like to see what version you guys are going to go for with the S5. I kinda like the TouchWiz version because of the Gear Fit, and stock Android is a little boring IMO. With little to no performance difference between the skinned S5 and stock Nexus 5 now, which version would you opt for and why?
Also worth noting that with past GPE devices the cameras were always better on the skinned versions IIRC.
I'm having the same questions..is it possible to flash touchwiz Roms on the gpe edition? Cause if so it may be worth getting since it might be hard to root the carrier versions

+1. If buying off-contract, that would be nice. It would probably be hard though because of Knox. I doubt that they'd support Gear though if you did a ROM.

I'm buying TW LTE with snapdragon 801. I'm also buying Gear Fit (most likely, considering Gear 2), but that depends on whether Gear 2 has same functionality as Gear Fit (in terms of fitness coaching). If it does, I'm torn apart between Fit and 2, if it doesn't I'm just buying the Fit. I really like to have personal fitness coach thingies.
Android stock camera app sucks. That's all.
Definitely the touchwiz version, never been a fan of stock android on a phone.

Yeah I want a Gear Fit because they look pretty cool and also do notifications. Problem is, AT&T's $50 off when you get an S5 and Gear doesn't apply to the fit D:

Moto stuff has really caught my eye though, but my wrists are really small so the 360 would look huge.

I only hope the curved amoled + it being rectangular keeps up in the smartwatch world. I kind of want to see an Android Wear port for the Gear Fit.
Does anyone know the differences between Gear 2 and Gear Fit? (aside from hardware differences, those are obvious)

Gear 2 runs Tizen, and Fit runs a Real-Time OS.
Gear 2 is less fitness oriented design wise, but has most (if not all) of the fitness functionality the Fit has.
Fit has no open SDK, hence no 3rd party app support (because of extremely limited hardware). Gear 2 has both. Developers can, however, make Android apps work with the Fit (just not run on them).
Gear 2 can make calls and respond to messages. Fit can only give you notifications.
Gear 2 has a camera and IR Blaster. Fit does not.
$300 Gear 2 ($50 off at AT&T with an S5), $200 Gear Fit (no available discounts).
I think that about sums it up!
Oh, and an Android Wear port most likely wouldn't work because of the insanely low specs on the Fit.
EDIT: Gear 2 has 2-3 days of battery life and the Fit has 4-5.
Neo is exactly the same as 2 except without a metal build or camera (but it has a light sensor that looks more like a camera than the actual camera on the Gear 2 ).

Thanks, that's a great deal of info. If the Gear 2 has all the same functionality as the Gear Fit (when it comes to the fitness coach thing and stuff), I'll probably buy the Gear 2. If the Fit is unique, I might but that. But the way it looks right now, the extra functionality on the Gear 2 makes it look more attractive imo.
EDIT: you seem to be able to snooze alarms and revoke calls with the Gear Fit. Does that mean other stuff might be possible?

Yeah no problem! Advantages of the Fit are the curved screen, twice as long battery life, lighter weight, and cheaper price. That's about it (will edit my post with battery life info).
I doubt much else on the Fit is possible, as it isn't sending text or voice data to the phone and it's hardware is so limited. It may eventually have notification support for more apps though, but I don't think you can even read texts on it. As I said, devs can build Android apps to support the Fit for extra functionality. This may give the Fit a few more features.

I'm just wondering which one are you all going to get... I'm going back and forth on which one to get... I mean the N4 will be great but that Edge looks nice and "the next big thing", but I'm hoping it's not just a gimmick... Also I'm wondering about development for the Edge... Since you all are experts here on XDA, your opinions are worth something... Thanks in advanced...

I'm left handed so Note 4 for me. Even if I was right-handed, I'd probably wait a gen to see what Samsung and devs can do with the Edge. The fact that it's supposed to significantly more expensive than the 4 (which is already $750-$820 off contract) helps with my decision as well.
The cost was originally stopping me from going with the edge. Just watched this hands on video a little while ago and I didn't like the looks of it.

I'd love to see a taskbar with all open apps on it kind of like a desktop computer. If they had that option out of the gate I might consider it, might be convenient. I know the N4 has the running programs soft button, but it's still nice to see all your apps on a taskbar. I'm torn, but I'll probably play it safe and grab the vanilla N4.
Note 4 for me. Some dev will probably port the the note Edge rom for the 4. That be the best of both worlds.
Love the Edge. But price and release date are evasive and will likely be prohibitive.
Dynamic notifications kinda kills the coolest part. However moving menu items and shortcuts to it can be such a Time saver.
The Edge is expected to be $1,000 for the 32GB model and per Samsung's presentation, the curve display is part of their "ecosystem" strategy along with the watch. I take that as, you need to use Wiz and the curve display is proprietary.
Seems the Edge might be the antithesis of a device for the XDA forum.
Note 4 for me cause I need me the Gear VR.
I just read on PA that the edge will start out in limited production this year.

No one is even mentioning any information about preordering the edge, I guess it comes out really late this year. Since i can't do VR, I am not interested in the edge. I don't think this device will be very popular.
Isn't the "edge" just a piece of the regular screen real estate wrapped around the edge? That is, we really aren't gaining any screen real-estate?

You actually lose .1" of real estate.
This could be the reason why there hasnt been any mention about preordering the Note Edge
Samsungs own president said the Edge is a concept phone and not intended for mass production. That equals very rare and very expensive.
The other thing I read about it is that it is shorter than the Note 4, but wider. I have a Note 3, and I have trouble reaching from one side to the other with my thumb (I play Ingress, so this happens often). If I ended up with a phone even a milimeter or 2 wider, it would be impossible -- and I've got large hands.
I think it is a novel concept, and I hope it sells enough to warrant a second generation. But I also hope they make something useful and usable as the second edition.

Hello. I've been trying to find myself out but no luck. What happens if you cram an "old" Galaxy Note 4 into the new Gear Vr? I've already installed the Oculus App inside. Im wondering the same, especially now that I've flashed my Note 4 with a Note 5 port and the model number actually says SM-N920C.
Just finished reading amazon reviews and people are saying that the Note 4 doesn't fit! Most of us Note 4 users expected a software limitation that could be fixed with rooting or spoofing, but a hardware size issue would be a huge disappointment. I contemplated buying this VR consumer headset knowing it's not going to be compatible with the expectation of making some modifications to get it to work, but if it doesn't fit that's ridiculous! Hopefully someone shares photos or videos of their problems, and maybe we can find a workaround.

Since the announcement of the consumer Gear VR it was clear that the Note 4 will not fit in it.
There is also a visible trend that new content is sometimes unsupported by the Note 4 (mostly because of the Snapdragon variant out there which somehow causes trouble to utilize the performance needed without overheating problems).
The Note 4 version is now over a year old and in my humble opinion it is/was a developer device but to get more testers on board it was called "innovator edition".

I talked to a Samsung/Bestbuy Rep who witnessed the Note 4 fit into the new VR. Said it doesn't fit perfect and didn't advise it , but it does fit.
That's somewhat good news. Now someone needs to confirm that the software works. I am surprised a Note 4 xda developer has answered this question yet.

Dn5 for the n910c works perfectly with the note4 vr innovator edition. You need to install the oculus apps using n4 buildprop but after that you can swap back to n5 buildprop. I'd also like to know what people mean when they say it 'doesn't fit'. I am interested in getting a VR device, but the Innovator Edition is ridiculously expensive for some reason. Can you squeeze it in? Or does it really not fit. Maybe I'll head to a Best Buy and jam my Note 4 in the Consumer Edition to see for myself.
Better to ask forgiveness than permission.
Edit: I found the Innovator Edition for the Note 4 certified refurbished at Amazon for $150 and made a separate thread.

Even if it didn't fit.. why couldn't you use rubber bands or something to strap it to the VR as a rudimentary workaround? Or maybe even take part of the VR's plastic off.
I was going to buy one to test myself. From what I understand, you can make it fit. With root , you can fake it to think it's what ever device you want it to be.
The problem will be overheating and under power, and screen resolution. But Samsung really screwed themselves with this non removable battery deal..

If you do buy the newer version, let us know what the issue with the fit is. If it's something that can be remedied by modifying the back cover or removing it, I might return the Innovator Edition I just bought and get the Consumer Edition.

I was just given one of these as a gift. Love it! The new version has a power port so you don't drain the battery. Instead of separate cartridges for each phone all of the devices fit into one set up using Springs and spacers. I'm running this with my note 5 and couldn't be happier.

How snug is the fit of the Note 5 in terms of it's width? The Note 4 is only a few milimeters smaller in terms of width, but I bet that could be the difference between wedging it in and not getting it in at all.

Since it is the largest device this was designed for; the fit is very snug. You would have issues with the corners if you tried to fit a note 4 into this. Your best bet would be a refurbished innovator edition.
@baja, I am very well aware which devices this was designed for.

No one is going to disagree.
I think the launch product design wasn't finalized until after the launch of the s8+
I am racking up those friggen VRs as well.
So I get the Samsung Gear 360 VR Camera on promotion with the Note8, but I can't watch VR videos that I make with it on my current Samsung VR Headset that I got with the S8+. Would've been nice to offer the new VR Headset that fits the Note8 as one of the new promotion options.
I wonder if it will be possible to mod the S8/S8+ one to fit. Otherwise I guess I'll see if they offer a % off coupon for accessories like they have with previous S and Note models.

Thats what I am thinking, should not be too much to mod but might be off center since one side is the plug and can not be adjusted. I don't know if I will do another VR unless we get really good deals. I have 3 VR's sitting here collecting dust now. I can't believe they did not plan for device adjustments for the note 8.
I just got off of a chat with Prasanna N. at Samsung Technical Support who said that they will have a port/adapter of some kind that will allow the Note8 to work with the previous model of the Gear VR. So maybe we'll be ok and not have to buy the Gear VR Note8 Edition.

That makes no sense.

Planned obsolescence.
The Note 8 version will be my first...never got to try the previous ones.

I wonder if it will be possible to mod the S8/S8+ one to fit. Otherwise I guess I'll see if they offer a % off coupon for accessories like they have with previous S and Note models.

It's a tight fit, but, you shouldn't have to do any modifications to the older VR Gear:
FF To about the 12:30 mark

The Note8 fits in the most recent Gear VR headset. No modifications are required. I have a very difficult time understanding why anyone has had difficulty with this.

Does not fit in the one I bought a month ago. The note8 will not sit flush on the snap in end.
And the text on vr boot up is not centered.
Daydream fits and is compatible day 1. Works great!

Then you're doing it wrong. Sorry, I can't help you. There are numerous YouTube videos demonstrating that it fits and works properly.
