Does one need to unlock the Tmobile version to get it to work on other carriers including verizon or sprint?

You have to unlock to use the tmobile note 4 on att.
Pretty sure you can't use it on verizon or sprint.
---------- Post added at 11:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:35 PM ----------
It works on smaller carriers however like cricket, etc.
Just wondering is all, thanks

Yeah, the bands are different on verizon and sprint.
Here's people talking about trying tmobile Sims on sprint note 4s:

As long as you own the phone. (not financed), T-Mobile is required to give you the "unnlock" code for your SIM at no charge. The little stipulation in this is that you have to have owned it for 40 days (I believe).
Cricket is an excellent option btw. :good:

Hi I want to send my GF, in the USA an unlocked international note. I day it will work on at&t, the guy in the shop says no. It's the N7000
Thx
From box 13......
It will work as long as it supports the frequencies. At&t is gsm so it should be compatible. Just check if the frequencies are supported.
P.S.: remove the comma after gf
I have an unlocked German gt n7000 I got from amazon. I am in los Angeles. It works perfectly on at&t. Just download at&t messages app from the web and side load it, and you will get visual voicemail for free too. You must use the WAP.Cingular apn
There is a thread here about it. Search.
---------- Post added at 08:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:59 PM ----------
If it is truly unlocked it will work

Works great. Lots of people using ATT's network either natively or through straight talk.
I am looking to purchase an At&t branded N6 for use on Vzw...I've done the research and I know for sure that it will work. I also know that I need to get an unlock code for it to be able to work. What is the quickest way to receive a code without having to pay a fee? Thank you so much for your help.
P.S. The seller inserted a Vzw nano Sim to see what would happen, and it immediately asks for the code...does that mean it's already unlocked n all I need is the code? Or does unlocking and activation all happen in one step once the code is entered?
Its locked my friend but why not by it directly from Motorola or GPS?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Is it true I don't need a code if I root the phone? If so, are there any precautions to take?
No it is the carrier in which you purchased the phone is who locks it. Once the phone is paid in full you simply call your carrier for the unlock code although there are some stipulations to the rule such as you can only unlock two phones with in a six month period.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Yes I know of the stipulations...the phone is paid off, but from what I'm reading it takes a min for att to send the code...
I know it's easy enough to unlock...n I don't have the money to be able to buy outright, spending a few hundred less buying from a seller
N all that is currently available in my area are Att branded N6s lol
And I do already have an active nano Sim, so that makes things easier
By the way, I love Jedi Mind Tricks
all you have to do for them to sim unlock it is pay it off completely then ask tbem to sim unlock it. once its paid off, they have to sim unlock it if you ask.

It's paid off, can they give you a code right away or do you have to wait? N can this be done over the phone?
No way to get your hands on a T-Mobile N6 huh? Its unlocked out of the box.

Can you point me to the documentation that says this phone will work on Verizon? Sure you can stick a sim in and get Verizon LTE but is that enough? Will you be able to use voice?

I just wanted to make sure you realize that none of the N6 are whitelisted at VZW. That means that you'll have to play some games to get a VZW nano SIM. Several threads on General section about this.

Is it possible to bypass the code by rooting the phone first?
att has two days to respond to your unlock request. i just happened to read this, on g+ http://www.tomsguide.com/us/carrier-unlocking-official,news-20440.html

No. Rooting the phone is not related to, and will not affect the need for carrier unlock.
Is it better to buy the Nexus 6 from T-mobile or Google Playstore?

T-Mobile does sell the 64GB version. I purchased one through them.
If you want to pay for the whole phone all at once (or want a white Nexus 6), go through Google. If not, go through T-Mobile. It will be carrier locked until it's payed off.

This may be, but the images provided by Google will work with T-Mobile. Not sure what will happen when (*if) T-Mobile gives us Wifi calling..

Are you 100%? So you're saying I can flash 5.1 image from U.S.A. Playstore version on my T-Mobile version? That doesn't sound right.

Yep. Basically the only difference is the radio. The T-Mobile version uses 95R. The others use 98R. You can flash whichever radio, one may work better than the other for you.

Odd because I tried using Wugfresh's root toolkit and it failed.

This is slightly incorrect. The only build that has the 98 radio is LMY47E. This is the build that was pre-installed on models purchased directly from Verizon. All other builds have the 95 radio at the moment.

only E uses 98r, all the others use the 95r radio.
Hey all,
I recently picked up a Note 5 for the Wisconsin carrier Cellcom as their network is great up here. However, unlike pretty much every Note 5 I've seen (including the US Cellular Note 5 which has the same model number), the option to put the phone in "global" mode is missing. I popped an AT&T SIM in it and it didn't give me any issues about unlocking the device, but It looks like global mode is hidden. Anyone know of a way to enable it? Thanks!
Did the phone work on At&t once you put the sim card in? It's supposed to be international for phones using the CDMA bandwidths. For GSM bandwidths you'd have to use the one that ends with an I. The Australian version. I do have a question though. I am trying to see if that phone is allowed to work on Verizon's network. Do you think you could PM me the phones ESN or MEID so I can ask Verizon before I buy the phone? I really want to be able to root it but still have Verizon.
---------- Post added at 07:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:42 PM ----------
Or you can check for me. Just follow this link and put in the ESN or the other to see if it would be allowed to work on Verizon. As far as I know the only one Verizon says no too is Sprint. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Everyone, I am looking at getting a note 8. I have T-mobile and am wondering if I can use any 950 and put T-mobile software on it and be able to use all the T-mobile features. I ask because I have a note 4 that was Verizon I could use it on T-mobile but was unable to use the hotspot since it always tried to activate the Verizon hotspot. I had to get a T-mobile board for it to use it. I don't want to get the wrong 950 any input would be appreciated
Yes.

You won't need to flash T-Mo firmware. They're all the same firmware. It will automatically provision for whichever SIM you put in it.
