S-On vs S-Off with RUUs - Sprint HTC One (M8)

I have the Sprint Stock RUU for HTC One M8 (from developer website) and I used it once but I had to relock my bootloader because I had s-on. If I S-Off ed my device would I still have to relock my bootloader?

I'm confused here:
"and no i have s-off but my bootloader is locked? could i just unlock my bootloader and root or should i redo the s-off"
So do you have s-off or do you not have s-off
Just unlock the boot loader add a recovery and flash away...if it says s-off on hboot then there is no need to redo s-off, a ruu will not remove s-off

I'm s-off even though I messed up on the wire trick and have to RUU, but my bootloader is locked

lf your s-off just unlock the bl and proceed
Do fast boot OEM relock then flash the ruu and redo everything to get s off and root

[Q] Help UnBrick.

Seems like I require S-OFF.
Currently I got custom recovery and ROM but it only boots into fastboot until S-OFF is achieved.
HBoot is 1.44 S-ON, locked with tampered flag(Not the new 1.54/1.45 HBoot).
CID has been set to 11111111 and has not been unlocked on HTCDev before.
How would I proceed? or is this a complete paper weight? Phone doesn't have warranty anymore.
Thanks.
Try running an RUU while the phone is connected and in bootloader mode.

Don't use a ruu higher than your main version so you can still s off

Sprint HTC one boot loader

I want to get my boot loader back to s-on unlocked bootloader with correct cid I'm currently running 1.55 hboot s-off and supercid

I was under the impression that S-OFF and unlocked bootloader were the same thing.

[Q] HTC One S-off with HTCDev

I have a Sense HTC One (HBOOT 1.54) unlocked and running TWRP custom recovery. Is it possible to use HTCDev S-off on this?
I have tried revone (no 1.54 support), moonshine and runrunner - but no luck.
In fact is it possible to downgrade to hboot 1.53 so I can use revone?
HTC Dev won't set you s-off. Rumrunner should work fine. Did you do everything exactly as they said?
What error did you get from rumrunner?

I've tried the temp-root metod, that doesn't require the unlock...so there isn't a way to s-off without htcdev unlock?
Without htcdev I haven't heard any. I had troubles going soff on 4.4.2 once I went s on. There's a ckpv5 post buried in one of the threads which helped me gain s on

I tried the same but couldn't get temp root to work. Don't know why.
Unlocked via HTC Dev and S-off with Firewater afterwards was hazzle-free
