Scratches? every accessory deteriorate with time in a daily basis, the more you use it, the more it will deteriorate. This happens even with the phone, and everything else, not just phones. I don't see a quality issue here.

I had note II, Note 3 but they hadn't scratches on Spen

You can get a new genuine Spen on EBay for $8 . I've had my Note 4 since the day it was released and have got no scratches on it. Really don't see any problem here.

Some people just like to look for things to complain about
Sent from my SM-N910U using Tapatalk

That sort of cosmetic damage happens all the time, the more you use something the more likely it's appearance will deteriorate. As for the Note 4 being a bad phone, I've had mine for a week now and I've been using it non stop. Playing games, watch media, surfing the net, installing and uninstalling apps/games and I've yet to experience any lag.

I don't believe a word you've written !

Wrong thread.
We discussed obout Note 4.
No lagging or scratches here.

So all of you who say there is no lag get instant response when you hit the recent apps button?
This phone is great, but to me, the lag is almost a deal breaker

Yeah, I use the recent apps button all the time to make sure that there aren't any apps/games running in the background.

As an old LG G3 user (a very lagging phone) upgraded to n4 its the fastest and best phone I have ever had! No lag here

Note 4 is very smooth, no lags for me.
My pen is also scratches, as said above replacement for less than $10.

Not a scratch on my SPen. Had my Note 4 since launch.

No lags here okay tweaked to the max but I can understand that the stock Sammy roms can get pretty laggy. And for the pen just replace it when annoyed by scratches,
mine is still scratch free :/

Did you update your phone? No lag here, everything smooth...

Optimus touchscreen not as good as apple?

I've noticed when scrolling down pages etc that occasionally the touchscreen seems to miss a spot, like it's not sensing any movement in that particular area of the screen, a "deadspot" if you will..
has anyone else noticed a similar occurance? On my Iphone 3GS I noticed no such issues.
The basic concept behind a capacitive screen is that it has a grid dot array, and senses current change between any multiple "nodes" and then registers your input accordingly. If you look at your screen under the sun you will see this grid dot array, with many tens of dots splattered around the screen..
However, I noticed my old iPhone 3GS had a LOT more of these dots on the screen. I'm wondering if it's just my screen protector interfering with touch motions, or if its the fact that the grid array isn't comprehensive enough.
TL;DR
Does anyone notice dead spots on the touchscreen of their Optimus 2X?
Also, I notice I need to aim slightly above my intended target when pressing links and such, does anyone else have this issue?
Thanks.
No deadspots that I can register, potential culprit could be the kernel you are using.
As for the aiming slightly above issue, I agree with you, if I use my thumb I really aim a bit higher, but if I touch with my pointer finger, it is dead on
I cannot compare this touchscreen to iphone because I've never owned one, but responsiveness and precision is as good as on Galaxy S which my brother currently has
I have noticed no deadspots or lags (despite of some leaked roms with this particular known issue..)
Compared to my friend's Iphone 4, noticed no difference..

Apart from the resolution, the screen, the digitizer and the screen size? That would seem very different to me.
Well its a 3.5inch in an iphone so yeah the size is def different..

It smells like a hardware problem. I never had it and I never heard anyone have it. Send it to service.
Actually our touch its pretty good. 10 points of multitouch.
What I remember is that with gr1 rom from modaco if i recall correct some raws on the right side were dead so you couldnt hit "p" easy but that was roms problem. CM or stock are fine.
I think you got a bad apple (no pun intended)... I upgraded from iphone 3gs/Xperia x10 to optimus, had the three of them side by side for some time, and the o2x's screen responsiveness is, at very least, on par to iphone 3gs. X10 with wolfbreak's rom was a little bit less responsive, but no compaints about optimus 2x. A dead spot issue looks like a hardware fault.
And sorry for my bad english...

Apple invests a huge amount of money in marketing, because they are supposedly the best in every activity they are involved, which of course is nonsense!

Yeah, I meant the display felt less responsive/precise, not considering the dual/multitouch capabitities, bcos wasn't the focus of the discussion...
What ROM are you using? Maybe you're running some bad kernel with the touch-bug? For example Pauls r23 have it. Try neoblaze. Or if your running a stock rom, what version is it? I think there is one stock with the bug also, not sure.

Please Update Your Review on Galaxy Note

Many of you have got Galaxy Note for more than 1 month.Request all the Note users to update your reviews on the phone.Does it has any issues now and what all the solutions for those issues.
Thanks
Everything is great. Battery, screen, speed, stability, call quality, build, camera, speaker, s-pen, etc. What else do you want to know?

No and no for me.
I really love this phone. Note is the best smartphone I ever use, the second best of mobile phone I ever use.
fast, massive screen, great resolution, nice camera quality, relatively good battery life against other android devices, s-pen is more than awesome.
OK we all know the goodies , let talk about some based.
1. Battery still can be much better but it's not notes fault. It's due to the limitation of current techology.
2. Samsung firmware could be better, now it's laggy and I am sure they are working their way. For now you can use custom rom to solve it. Checkrom is one of the best now.
3. The volume rocker and power button can place on a better place which you won't accidently trigger them.
4. If the battery allows. Still prefer rgb over pentile but it's not a big issue

It lags a lot noticeable through Samsung TouchWiz Launcher, or any other launchers.

I have an s2 that I can compare side to side with the GNote and compared to to the s2 there is some lag but it's fast enough.
If you choose to enable the power saving feature on the GNote it will lag even more.
There is also a delay in waking up the phone that the s2 does not have. That is quite irritating sometimes.
I have no overheating problems with mine.
I didn't read the thread but I will note a few of my findings.
I love the note and seems like its a complete smartphone for my needs. The screen is great and with rocket rom v17, its super fast and bug free.
Now the bad side of the note.
It gets extremely hot in gps mode when connected to lighter power source. Too hot to continue connected to car power. hardware damage could occur.
I took care of my note but it seems I am one of the unlucky ones to have damaged hardware on my phone. It seems the note also suffers from same symptoms as some sgs2 owners. after a month's usage my note began to act funny. I have had rocket rom v10 on it. I was very happy with the performance then all of the sudden, note started to get into car mode automatically and asking me to give verbal commands. some apps would open up or close automatically. then all of the sudden when i disconnected my note from power source it seemed the note didn't recognize the usb disconnection and continued thinking it was still connected to power cord. Then it would not respond to power button to turn on the note. I would have to connect my note to power source in order to have it turned on. I tried cleaning the usb port contacts, even pushed them down. it helped for a few minutes and gave me the impression the note was fixed but the problem would continue to pop up. Now I am unable to use my note as I can't get it out of charging mode. It is always in charging mode and drains the battery and acts funny. I am sure the usb port is damaged and my note has to be sent back for repairs. this is after just one month's usage.
oh yeah,. I have done all to fix the problem. I have changed the roms, even installed stock rom through odin, changed kernals and even discharged and recharged the phone a few times. All to no avail. I am totally bummed as I am sure my phone company will reject my phone and make up an excuse that it has internal water damage. I will try to restore my phone to original rom and sent it in for warranty repair.

Z1 temperature

Hi, just got my Z1 today and am super exited. Just one thing though..with mild to medium usage it hangs around 33-37 degrees celsius. Is this normal? I know its make mostly of metal and glass so this might not be a problem. Just wanted to make shure. I appreciate any response! Thanks!

dont worry, wont heat up as bad as the older S4 Kraits
my old Xperia V heats up worse than my current Z1 lol
maybe it is the glass. nexus 5 is way cooler in similar usage... but heat is good in winter
All the flagships I bought since late 2011 had heating issues. Granted Z1 is a little worse but don't worry, iPad 3 gets hotter than this yet it works fine! but if you still worry: Phones warn you when they reach their temperature limit so you will be fine until you get that message! and if you did just clean the task manager and leave the phone for a while

Haha what do you have against the Note 3? Ive read everywhere people arent that fond of it. Maybe it was because all those comments on it I read in this subforum haha. Do you notice a type of rattling sound in your Z1 when you tap it on different parts? not alot but minimal, like the body isnt completely unified?

The rattle is because of the camera lens. The lens needs a little room to jiggle in order to focus on target. All the phones are like this, including premium built devices like iPhone 4/4S/5/5S, HTC One/X/X+ AND LUMIA 1020 all of which I had or worked with, that God awful note 3 is no exception either! If you wanna know why I hate Samsung phones in general PM me on Facebook: Ara Rezaee. I don't have time to start a war here for no reason!

Who would want low quality build, bad display etc when you can get premium phones like Z1, Z Ultra !
Seriously, you buy a new phone and the plastic frame looks like one of those parts you scissor out to build cars, boats, planes with glue. There's chips and black spots on the cheap plastic frame from the start.
Not to mention how friggin HOT samsung phones get. I'm glad I got some sense into me even if it took a all these years to switch, I was scared but damn, I'm glad I did it.
On another note, I hope Sonys phones in the future never have glossy plastic, that's really disgusting.

Word bro. My S3 got to 45 degrees from having chrome and g+ open. Its one of the main reasons i switched. (and also the less than premium feel and look.) Shure the Z1 is a bit heavier than most phones, but i guess being the best looking android phones comes at the cost of weight.

No idea what the temp threshold is but coming from a HTC One, I can tell you that it feels no where near as hot as that phone did, that was a hot phone, great, but hot.
The Z1 does reboot on it's own now and again, which is weird, not everyone has it but i have and so have quite a few people who i know.

Note 3 vs. Note 4 - for anyone still on the fence

Had a friend record a video and I produced it, just in case anyone is on the fence about upgrading or is trying to decide if the price jump is worth it!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBDR-jqLTf8
Had the note 3 and sold it due to its proximity sensor not working. Wish I hadn't. Have the note 4 now and love it. To be honest the only real difference to me is the new build quality. Less plastic and more metal.
The note 3 seemed just as fast and great. I would have bought another note 3 but they were selling only 100 euros less than the note 4
Some it was better in note 3...note 4 is needed updates asap
I have all the Samsung Note.
The difference for me between a Note 3 and 4 is all speed and screen.
I'm so happy with the upgrade and I must say I didn't expect to be so impressed about the difference.
So satisfied, but battery is hopelessly bad .
Like Note 1 and 2 the battery drain is ridiculous.

No the sensor was not installed properly and since the device was rooted the knox was tripped. So warranty no go!
I always rushed in upgrading Samusng phones like I bought note 2 and note 3 brand new after few days of launch but not any more. I believe the price difference is not worth spending as of now so I am waiting for price to go down.
I got my upgrade yesterday from note 3 to note 4 and apart from the build quality and the camera there doesnt seem to be that much of a difference if im honest.
i use it for work and was a little disappointed that knox was not available on the 910f model yet, i also tried my knox but that doesn't work on this model at the moment either.
apart from that it's all good ☺
It's not a 'shut up and take my money'
It's like a 'go back to the labs'
note edge looks more attractive. if it has borders on 4 edges I would say 'shut up and take my money'
I'll hold my N3 for a while. the gap prices are short in my country.

I'm sure Samsung know that metal is less than ideal on a phone, it's a stupid fad.
Note 4 has sharp edges too. It also has that bevelled edge to the glass which is great if you run without a protector but terrible if you do I hated the 2 for that.
Definitely not moving from the 3 to a sharp edged phone, my 4 upgrade in January will most likely get sold immediately.

My experience with the Note 4 is almost the opposite, apart from the screen. Battery life on my Note 4 is very good, at the end of the evening always between 30 and 40% left.
Speed of the device is a different story, stutters all over the place. Totally random, while switching launcher pages, scrolling through calendar or contacts (appr. 120 contacts) and other apps with "list view". My Note is 100% stock.
Not to forget, the fingerprintscanner is an annoying piece of hardware. Having my right thumb fingerprint registered 3 times I always have to swipe more than once/twice in order to unlock.
I'm absolutely not happy with the "update"!!

Well I would have done that, I live in Germany but it would have taken them quite a bit of time. I sold it for 500 euros and explained the issue to the buyer. I bought a nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 with that money. To my surprise the Nexus series do NOT accept USB OTG natively. I had to get Stickmount from Chainfire to use any additional storage. It really made me wish for my note 3 back even with the sensor issue.
When my wife got the s5, I immediately realized why I like Touchwhiz and its lag. It comes out of the box with a lot of features that other devices need root for..
Like USB OTG
Customized quick settings
All share, (no need for all cast)
Also its cameras are always better with its features.
Plus micro sd
Battery removal and last but not least, It comes with in my opinion the best screens. I love Super OMLED.

I'm absolutely not happy with the "update"!!

It sounds like you don't have the latest firmware.
I can't make my phone lag at all.
I can scroll as fast as I in contacts (988) pictures (764)
with out any lagging.
If you take a picture and press the photo on the left lower corner.
If it doesn't pop up instantly I guess your phone is on the same firmware as min was before I updated.
It was lagging in every way before update.

You're right, I don't have the latest firmware.
i got note4 cheap so upgrade was right to do.
in my opinion they polished everything that was not so good on note3 like edge, camera, adding fingerprint lock, front camera, fast charge and for me usb 2.0.
but if someone would ask me would you pay 50% more to get note 4 i would say no.
Biggest disadvantage on note 4 is that he does not have temperature and humidity sensor (((

Stutter/Lag when scrolling?

I went to Best Buy to play with the phone. I pre-ordered the device yesterday. Everything seems pretty awesome (love the app pairing feature, the screen is unbelievable, and the curved edges are so much better than they used to be), but I must say that I'm not pleased to report that scrolling is not nearly as smooth as it should be. I tried scrolling on Google Chrome casually and there are frame drops and stuttering.
Boy I hope this is just on the retail model. With 6 GB of RAM and an 8 core processor... It should be able to scroll smoothly! If it's consistently like that, I would consider returning it. Anyone have the device already? Thoughts on scrolling stutter?
Its unacceptable and im canceling my oder as we speak, i am paying 1000 dollars for my phone with or without finance...this isn't fair how does iphone do it with 2gbs of ram how does google do it with 3gbs of ram on a nexus 6p? This is either masterful sarcasm or a mentally unbalanced over-reaction.
Not sure which, and I'm afraid to ask.
Seriously, samsung makes the best hardware but God damnit if your having stutters that is completely unacceptable! They never focus on software..and I'm gonna take a stage by canceling and if everyone would do me the favor of doing the same we could actually sent Samsung sales, but who im i kidding all you guys are gonna buy it anyways...lag or no lag....smh

I'd say mentally unbalanced, maybe slightly retarded, but that is just my opinion.

And your evidence that this is even an issue? The experience of 1 random person on the internet using a display model for a couple of minutes. Seemingly, that's enough not just for you to rage quit on your pre-order, but to advocate a wide-spread boycott of the device.

What do you mean "slightly"? Slicktune appears to have gone full retard with almost no provocation. But if they've cancelled their pre-order, I guess we won't be seeing them in this part of the forum again. Right, Slicktune?
Hmm Best Buy....preview...I could careless. I buy it.. test it myself. To even run with what someone said they saw they did.. ok
Note 7 (2 of them), S7E and now S8+.... none of them stutter for me. Dunno what situations people have going on for these beasts to stutter. I do use Nova Prime launcher, but don't think that is why my phones don't stutter.
Before anyone else rage quits on their pre-order, read this...

Here in Romania at Samsung store Note 8 has been in display from the day of announcement. What I saw was that I cannot switch to performance mode.Maybe that's why your experience was laggy. As far as I can tell you, I am using right now S8 plus 128 gb with 6 gb of ram (HK version) and it's way better that normal S8+, with flawless experience so that's what I expect from Note 8

Yeah they launcher wouldn't affect Chrome performance. Glad to hear it's good! I expect basically perfection from this beast!

Good thought! I hope you're right! I want flawless too! ?
From what I've read, the lag is due to a new version of the UI Samsung Experience v8.5. I'm sure there will be updates to fix any performance issues but for the $$$$ it should be smooth out of the box.
Lots of Youtube videos showing retail units with retail software where no one is complaining about lag and you don't see any as you watch them swipe around. You do get a lot of the reviewers saying the performance is excellent. Not too worried as I'm a rooter and once the phone is properly debloated it will be smooth as can be just like all my other S/notes. To say nothing of the fact that display models are notorious for lag due to the gimped UI's.

Yeah I hope root is achieved on this phone! Hopefully the S8 exploit works here too.

We'll see how the phone behaves. The one I referenced was in retail mode and may not have had been the final software.
Concerned? Yes, I'm slightly concerned. But I won't worry too much until I see how it behaves for me (and others who may be receiving their phones today!).
Meh, no phone is perfect, the iPhone for example is not completely smooth despite it being often cited as such. I'm quite confident that my phone will be a as solid as any and put my money down without concern. How you spend your money is your business. Even iphonearena said the thing performs quickly and without lag which echoes what other sites are saying, for now it's what we know until a consensus is reached among the buying public.

Agreed, but I'll say that in terms of one particular area (smoothness), the Pixel IS perfect. In 6 months I've not seen one incident of stuttering (first phone I've ever been able to say that about). It has other weaknesses though, which is why I'm upgrading.
Samsung has a rough history in software, but I generally hear it's much improved. Honestly, I've never heard a review where it claimed a phone stuttered and dropped frames, so I'm not sure the lack of hearing this helps at all, for me.

Fair point. But look at the other reviews done and posted to You Tube. Now, I have not seen them all (probably an impossible task), but none of the reviews I have seen mentioned lag. So, if I were looking for a device, while not dismissing the findings reported by the OP, I would consider reviews from folks on line as well. They usually conduct thorough reviews. I would say nearly all have been overwhelmingly positive.
By the way, I am not a Samsung apologist, before you ask. If lag is indeed an issue that others note as well, then it's a problem and I would take that into consideration.
