if u created the backup before install than flash using cwm otherwise use official nokia tools like nokia lumia recovery tool or nokia care suit to download and flash a new firmware.

Hi, If I have a rooted phone, how do I update the rom? I have the stock rom. I guess you have to download the update and install it like you would any rom, but would this format my phone?

If you have a rooted stock rom, you will be able to receive update notifications from Sony and you can update using the offical methods.
However, the update will install the new stock rom without root, as this is not supported by the manufacturer.
There are some tricks to maintain root during an update, but there is no guarantee it will work.
(search xda forums)
FYI, for the current 4.3 stock release for V and T, there is a "one-click" root method.
Check this .

I can't update whilst rooted, the update fails to install. I would need to unroot before updating via the official method.

SuperSU has an option to remove root from your rom.
You can try that and see if the rom update works.

removing the bloatware from the system is the reason why it doesn't work! The updater recognizes the missing files and aborts the update, so the only way to get the Ota update is to bring the removed apps and files back!
I'm using official lollipop and i relock my bootloader and change my recovery back to stock recovery..... But i cant receive the last update so please help meeeeee.......

Last update ? Can you please elaborate ? Do you mean other phone get another OTA while yours don't ? Or maybe it's because you're using LMY47I and you can't get LMY47O release ?
I think you are talking about the bootloop. Just reflash the OTA LMY47O without wiping and see if your problem is solved.
No guys I'm using lmy470 and I'm not stuck at bootloop its just I don't get any update from the google like the last update which is about 7 mb I don't get it so please hrlp me......

You don't need the 7mb bro, its the OTA update for LMY47I. You're already updated to the latest stable LMY47O.
I had rooted my K3 note by replacing the stock recovery with TWRP with the help of SP Flash tools and installing SuperSU.
Recently the Marshmallow OTA update rolled out for the Indian K3 Note. However, when I try installing it, the phone simply reboots without updating. Going through the forums, I believe that this is due to the absence of the stock recovery which seems to be required for installing the update.
I also believe that if I try manually flashing the OTA update zip through TWRP, it'll probably fail, since this is what most people have attempted to do so have experienced.
So how do I go about installing the OTA update now? Do I have to reinstall the stock recovery or is there a workaround via TWRP? If I do have to unroot and install stock recovery, how do I go about it? I don't want to go through the hassles of unrooting my phone to install this update, neither do I want to apply any unofficial ROMs such as the cuoco92 one.
Suggest me some solutions guys..
Thanks in advance

Have you tried doing the same? Won't that require the phone to be unrooted?

You will be downloading whole new mm official Indian lenovo rom..
Obviously there will be no root after new rom but you have re-root after finishing boot..
Its easy to download and install updated rom and re-root..

Stop spreading misinformation mate, if you don't know what you're talking about. I've spent the whole evening looking through the internet regarding my query where all of them say that the OTA update only works with stock recovery. Flashing the official OTA update with TWRP will most definitely not work.
There is no definitive article or post which explains how to do it with a rooted phone and custom recovery, which is what I'm looking for.

To update officially you need to be on stock recovery

Better whole stock ROM. Even after an unroot you'll never know what apps like kingoroot have changed in the system.
Flash complete stock ROM or better forget the ota and flash stock MM directly.
