Help needed in downgrading from lollipop - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello folks!
I know my question has been repeated thousand times here.
I have tried to understand by myself and read as many threads as i can but to save some time and data bandwidth i want to know the shotest and safest procedure to downgrade my z1 c6902 from lollipop 14.5.A.0.270 locked bootloader to kitkat and try some custom kk roms. I have already rooted lolllipop using kingroot app. Recovery is not installed yet.
Do i have to flash kk ftf before doing anything?
Or i can directly flash dualrecovery and start flashing cm roms?
Also want to confirm wheter i have unlocked my bootloader to use cm based kk roms?

since ur already rooted ur lolli better to run the executable NUT's dual recovery and then back up the system to ur external.
answer to 1st question, yes u have to flash KK ftf if u want to downgrade.
u can flash directly the nut's dual recovery and flash custom rom like rockz1 and dstrikers rom
3rd bootloader is required to unlock if and only if u wanted a modified kernel like trinity..it depends on custom rom's requirement..better read it

[Q] Downgrading on locked bootloader

Hi guys!
I have searched the forum and I DO have got a lot of answers. But still I want to get some things clear before I go on.
I just got myself an Xperia Z. It was already updated to 4.3 .569. The phone has a locked bootloader and I found out that it CAN´T be unlocked. So there I´m stuck.
I was first thinking about following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590088
But then I got some more questions.
If I downgrade according to that guide... since I get a custom recovery, can I flash any custom ROM that is made for locked bootloader? Do I even have to use the 4.3 .569 used in the thread above or can I just downgrade and root then choose the ROM to my liking?
Thanx for all your help!
Downgrading
Dear friend:
1-the easy way::laugh:
2-Flash 4.2.2 with flash tool
3-Root on locked boot loader
4- Install Dual Recovery follow
5- Install 4.3/4.2 Pre-rooted or any other rom of your choice.
Once you've downgraded, rooted and have a custom recovery, you can use any rom you like, as long as it's a stock based rom for locked bootloaders.
You cannot flash anything based on CM/PAC/AOSP/AOKP etc as they require a custom kernel and therefore an unlocked bootloader.

[Q] [HELP] Updating to newest firmware on UB and flashing new Rom.

Hi guys. I have a c6903 and on 14.2.A.1.136 firmware i unlocked my bootloader and i installed the AOSB project Rom. And i saw the new firmware coming out, KK so i downloaded PAC rom, newest nightly one, fastbooted kernel, flashed rom and gapps and all seems to be working fine, few reboots here and there and some FCs. My question is, will everything be better if i flash the 757 firmware and can i flash the Nut version or should i flash one from Mega ftf collection? I am also looking to install the Ihacker or just to remain at stock 757 firmware, now is that possible and how should i do it ? I know these are noob questions but i dont want to brick my phone. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!
just flash them as the instructions say in the OP
Hmmm, that is not the problem what is is that i dont understand the instruction on ihacker, this one in particural
Skip to the Last Step if you are already on Firmware - 14.3.A.0.757.
Install Kernel.ftf for C6903 (.757) or Kernel.ftf for C6902 (.757) with Flashtool to get compatible Kernel and Baseband.
Reboot and Enjoy.
I dont have a 757 firmware flashed on my phone, so should i flash it first, then fastboot ihacker kernel then proceed with install and at the end install this kernel.ftf for my 903 ? Or just without 757 fastboot kernel, and just at the end flash this kernel.ftf ? All of this gets kinda confusing sometimes to get my head around

so you must do this last step....
its in the instructions and seems self explanatory...
Okey, thank you man, i just wanted to be sure, and i am sorry for taking up your time to answer on these trivial questions!
But aside from that does it make any difference at all, i mean on installing the new firmware or maybe its not different because the UB is unlocked.

no, having a unlocked bootloader just means you can flash custom kernels.
it makes no difference to flashing to the system which installing a stock based rom does

i don't recommend you to unlock bootloader as there's many steps to do which takes time.
so you will just need to downgrade to 4.2.2 firmware by flashing the ftf, then root it & install custom recovery, after that flash a pre-rooted 4.3 rom.

now im downloading (C5502) 10.4.B.0.569 tft files and flash it via flashtool, then im gonna try to again if my phone will boot or not.
@Ben Ling
I am new this rooting to. And I want to install a custom rom on my Xperia ZR. How do I downgrade to the previous ROM? Do I just use the flash tool? Is it necessary to backup my TA partition during this process or can I do it when I am about to root the device? Thanks!

download the 4.2.2 ftf, flash it then root it & install recovery
then flash custom rom (only based on 4.3 & stock firmware)
Thank you
So basically these are the steps which I need to perform
1)Download and run flash tool
2)Download the correct ftf and flash it via flash tool
3)Root the phone using doomlord's vroot kit
4)Backup the TA partition
5)Unlock the bootloader
6)Install custom rom
Please confirm if these are the steps to be followed
Thanks!
If you only want root you dont need to unlock bootloader and backup TA.

I live in India so would there be an India specific rom(Stock) for my phone?
@Ben Ling I rooted my zr by flashing 4.1.2 . I have also backed up the TA partition. Can you please suggest any good ROMS now? What should I choose stock based ROMS or AOSP roms like Carbon?
Also, If I want to come back to stock ROM(4.3) again what should I do?
Thanks!

if you want 4.4,then just try the carbon rom
for 4.3,try this.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726463
for back to stock, you will just need to backup your current 4.3 rom, then if you want to restore, just restore
but the backup will only restore by using the same recovery that you backup.
@Ben Ling Thankyou! One more question before I installed the 4.3 ROM which you mentioned, do I need to unclock the bootloader to install the ROM?

You are mostly right
You need a to be rooted, I suggest you use the 23.0.A.2.93 firmware to do this (4.4.4 - kitkat)
Have a custom recovery (click links to go to the posts)
Then flash a pre-rooted lollipop firmware
Sadly in lollipop they fixed the SuperSU Survival mode so the only way to get root is to flash a pre-rooted firmware

You will loose root if you update through OTA or through computer
You will keep root if you flash a pre-rooted firmware after gaining root on KK

This has been answered many times in other threads. Please search before posting.
No, 5.1 cannot be rooted directly. Root is only possible on 5.1 by flashing a pre-rooted ZIP.
Hi
If you have UB, youcan easily do that

Flashtool doesn't need root privileges.
With flashtool you flash ftf files.
You need flashtool program to flash ftf.
Your phone has to been in flash mode to flash a ftf file. The phone comes with flash mode, that's nothing special. The phone can handle flash mode from build.

Just curious, if you are on stock unrooted 5.1.1, how does Unlocking the Bootloader make rooting easier?

Just flash custom recovery and then flash super user through recovery, that's it

Overheat ? how ? there is no way... i have never even gotten over 50 Celcius... are you sure you don't have Z3+ ? D
Like what @xasbo said, this has been answered again and again, pls. use the search button.
There are no existing direct rooting method for 5.1.1 at the present time. Use flashtool to flash 4.4.4 or 5.0.2 on you phone then root it then install a custom recovery then flash a pre-rooted 5.1.1 on your phone. That is the only way you have at present if your phone has a locked boot loader.
If your phone has an unlocked bootloader, I believe you fastboot a rooted system.img or something to get root access on your 5.1.1 without the need to downgrade to either 4.4.4 or 5.0.2

.zip and then flashing the rest of ftf via flashtool except system. I posted the error in the thread of z1 Philippines

Ah, yes my apologies I mixed system.img vs. system.sin, if you are making a pre-rooted 5.1.1 use this thread it details how to create a pre-rooted 5.0.2 but it is the same for 5.1.1

Strange, ive been using stock roms since 4.4.2 on my C6903 and never even felt my device being warm, like on samsungs opening chrome alone makes it so hot you cant touch it. but on Z1 noo, there must be something wrong on it.
