[Q] 0E2 Radio Improvements ? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Thinking about doing the whole Flashfire/Odin route to get toOE2 from OC3. Wondering if the new radio in OE2 makes the effort worthwhile ? Anyone seen improvement ??

I didn't see much improvement with radio personally. However, you cannot do OC3 to OE2 upgrade without upgrading the radio or your phone won't boot.

Downgrade radio from ERE36B to ERE27

http://android.modaco.com/content/g...-online-kitchen-optional-root-insecure-himem/
There are several files in there and I'm not really sure which one is the one I'm looking for. Obviously, I'm not going to take such a risk having a great community of people who know what they're talking about.
So, if I have ERE36B and want to downgrade to ERE27, is this the correct file I have to flash? The thing is I'm not sure because I'm reading all this "update version" stuff everywhere and I'm now pretty confused. I'd appreciate someone's 10 seconds to check it out for me. You'll understand I don't want to mess up with radio stuff if it can brick my phone. Thanks
ERE27 / 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2 radio - update zip format
The update includes the Radio ROM shipped with ERE27, again as an update zip. It carries version number 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2. NOTE: This has been superceded by a new radio shipped with ERE36B.

I try to flash radios as least possible, you could brick your phone, anyways I found the new radio to be better, but I guessed is a personal preference. But yes just flash the zip and wait, wait, wait.

I'm experiencing low performance in all radio-related aspects and want to try to downgrade to see what happens. If it doesn't help I'll upgrade again. I just want to make sure that's the correct file to flash.
Yes, that is the downgrade. I did the same thing... im still wondering if this radio works better or not...and im not ready to try the newest one out yet.

How long does it take to flash radio?

It's been sending for about 10 minutes so far :O
I'm a little worried. Thanks,
It could take awhile.... Which radio did you flash? are you still in the screen where the android is out of the box? Be patient bro, no matter what dont take out the battery, or you will brick your device.

Hey rjhay22, thanks for the fast reply.
I flashed back to 4.04 from 4.06 as I was having some serious signal problems and random reboots ever since I updated to Froyo.
It just started writing to radio then the following error
writing 'radio' ... FAILED (remote: image update error) finished.

Ugh can't be too good...
I can still get into recovery, and I just flashed back to the stock ROM without any problems so I don't think I bricked it. Any idea as to why the radio won't flash? Checked the md5 and it was alright. Possibly a prob with the USB cable/laptops end?
Yah, must be a bad download, I suggest downloading the file again and try. which ROM are you on and which radio are you trying to flash? is it the IMG file? or the update.zip file?
If youre trying to flash 4.0.2 (stock) / 4.0.3 / 4.0.4 versions heres a link for an update.zip version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614427
these radios are Eclair ROM radios, if you're using FroYo then you should use, 4.0.6. otherwise it'll give you camera FC.

Currently just reverted back to Cyanogen 5.0.6 and trying to get back to 4.0.4. Would the best route be to go into recovery and just flash the zip to do this? I was a little scared of doing it before considering my phone was crashing but I'm pretty sure it's stable in recovery.
(I was trying to flash via cmd with the img file in my tools folder before).
Yes, I find it to be easier and less scary to go through the update.zip file... And the link I gave you, I've been using those files to go back and forth on radio. Good luck brother.

so do you guy sreally think that the froyo radio is faulty somehow, particularly for the ATT version of the N1? i'm thinking of going to froyo, but not sure about the new radio (i'm happy with current radio). but then i hear about video problems without new radio.
is it that easy to bounce back and forth?
Hello again lol. Froyo radio works a lot better than the previous ones for me at least. There isn't anything wrong with it, now this might not be true on yours since you are from another carrier . But you can always switch back to the old one, whatever works best for you.

Ok cool, I just gotta figure how how to tell what radio I'm currently using. I'm sure its the previous one that we've been using.
which will be the exact steps to revert my att band N1 to eclair again?
Should i first flash 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2 radio and then cyanogen's mod? or firts cyanogen's mod and then the 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2 radio?
im willing to to this, because my gps is not accurate with froyos radio...
Works either way

rjhay22, do you think that the oficial release of froyo will have a better radio for all att band N1's? couse mine is kinda sucky right now... the gps is slow and inaccurate...
What yave you heard, will froyo have 850 and 900 separeted radios?
As of now, google has been quiet about what's going to be in the official release. We can only hope that if they include a different radio in that release, that it would work perfectly on both ATT and T-Mobile devices.

You can tell which radio you are using by going into the bootloader; a few lines from the top I believe.
Also in the main settings menu it shows baseband version and it looks like 4. 00. 04 or something like that. Isn't that the radio info?
How long should it take to flash Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_SF over stock 26.03.02.26_M??? It's been going a good while now and I'm getting freaked out!!
Judging by the radio model, you posted in the wrong forum.

Downgrading radio version 5.08

Hy there ! I have a question about downgrading the radio from version 5.08 to 4.06. It is possible to do it without bricking the system?

I'm pretty sure you just have to flash the older radio in recovery. You can only brick the phone if you take out the battery while it's doing it, or if your battery is too low (so make sure you're at least 50% or 100% if you're really paranoid).
Any verification on this? I have the 5.08 radio and it's not as good as the older one, at least, for me.
edit: Nevermind, I decided to give it a go and it seems to have worked.
Thanks.
Just today, after about a month of 5.08, i downgraded to 4.06. Just flash it, simple and let it do its thing. Took a couple minutes to boot back in and it felt like the phone was stuck on the nexus boot but it pulled through.
Main reason for downgrading was that 5.08 was a little unstable. Noticed crash after crash when it lost reception.
4.06 is slow though
My problem with the 5.08 is that i loose 3g signal all the time. Maybe the 4.06 works well i have to try it

[Q] Upgrade Path

Please move this to Development if you see fit (I can't post there yet.)
If we have moved to 5.7.893 with a modified kernel and radio, are we off the upgrade path? Are we in danger of getting stuck?
I understand using leaks carries risks I just want to understand what we are looking at. I know people are trying very hard to unlock the bootloader with the help of Cheesecake, and I thank everyone for that.
from what i have read and understand, yes you are off the upgrade path because of the kernel. you can get system and radio back to stock but not kernel yet.
Once the update "drops" it will be out there for people to flash themselves though just like the ones so far.

I was just worried because the updates are a from and to style system.
Version you have -> Version you are updating too.
I was worried we wouldn't have one to go "from" 5.7.893

Bootloader download?

I was trying to update to 5.1 the other day and I got the newer radio but the only download link I found for the bootloader just 404's. Could anyone help me out with a download link for the bootloader that can either be flashed in fastboot or in recovery?
Why update the bootloader at all? Its not a requirement.
I had a lot of issues on the 5.1 ROM where the radio would be crashing every few seconds and was never stable. Using a 5.1 radio, 5.1 ROM, and 5.1 kernel. Figured it needed the bootloader to work right or something. The 5.1 radio is actually running perfect on the 5.0 ROM I am on once again until I could solve the issue, so I know it isnt the radio itself that is causing the crashing.

The problem is once you upgrade it, you can never downgrade it again. And then you're stuck with the danger of relocking the bootloader on the new version.
I imagine most of us who rooted when we first got our device still have the original bootloader (I have) so I would say it's not that.
Usually there is no reason to update the bootloader. I know sometimes CM "force" that, but it's very rare that there is an actual need for operational reasons..
Also FYI, Once the bootloader has handed off to the kernel during the initial boot process, it has no further interaction with the device (until next boot) so any issue in the rom is very hard to tie to the bootloader whilst its dormant.
Ok thanks for the info, guess I wont update it then. Ill try and debug the problem some more then and see if I can nail it down

If you exhaust all.options and feel you have no way forward, the best place to get the BL is from the official factory Image. Bigger download I know....
