[Q] Storage Space Running Out? - Moto X Q&A

Hey guys,
I recently updated my rooted XT1053 Moto X to 5.1 and rerooted again. After a couple days, I've been getting "storage space running out" message and I know this isn't the case because I have 6gb of free space left on my Moto X. I read on the forums that formatting the dalvik and cache partitions would fix this. I have TWRP 2.8.6.0 recovery installed and I went ahead with formatting the partitions. However, after wiping those partitions and rebooting my phone, I would encounter a bootloop. I would then turn off my phone and go back into recovery and saw this option for fixing the cache partition. After choosing that option, my phone would reboot and the "Android apps optimizing" screen would come up and optimize the apps really fast and I would get the storage space error message again.
What should I do in this case to fix this storage space running out problem? I do happen to have had made a backup of when I first installed 5.1 but I really don't want to do that, but if I have to I will.

Internal memory - Very strange case

Hello,
To make a long story short
Probably one of my installed apps is causing this problem I have (app2sd)
A few days ago I always got this "force close" msg for ALL of my apps.
I decided to factory reset - although it worked ALL the apps folders were not deleted from internal memory
BUT the apps are not there realy, just the folders.
I did a hard reset, the same.
all the info on the INTERNAL MEMORY comes back after any type of reboot.
Tried to FLASH and reinstall the ORIGINAL STOCK. -- NOTHING it doesn't work, I mean the new installation is but the apps' folders are STUCK on the internal memory of the phone.
Any help?
How can I really format the internal memory? flash it totally? I can't even re install the apps again from market, it doesn't let me.
help?!

If you are currently on Gingerbread 2.3.6, go into menu> settings > storage and format your SD card and settings privacy> to do a factory reset and erase all than try power down and boot into 2e recovery to do a wipe data and wipe cache and reboot phone to download mode and re-flash the ROM again and back to recovery again to wipe data and cache

Formatted/Deleted Internal Storage

So I pretty much eff'd up my bionic by formatting internal storage in Safestrap and now every time it boot it says Encryption Unsuccessful and to reset phone, and I did but same thing happens. Any help??
Check out SamuraiHL's House of Moto here to FXZ, that should solve your problem.

[Q] NOOK HD+ stuck in bootloop after failed Nandroid backup

I wanted to update my sister's Nook HD+ to CM11. I don't have an SD card big enough to do a nandroid backup, so I tried to back up to the internal SD card. It was working fine, then it said "backup of /data failed". I thought this was because the internal SD card ran out of space. When I tried to reboot, it found that it's stuck in a bootloop. It goes to the nook screen, then the Cyanoboot screen, then starts loading Cyanogenmod like normal. The boot animation plays then freezes, and the device reboots. I've tried clearing the cache and dalvik cache and it gets a little farther, but it's still in a bootloop. Please help! I would like to avoid doing a factory reset if at all possible.
If internal space was maxed out, would a factory reset even work any better?
If only booting is corrupted, you should just be able to simply dirty flash the same rom build or newer to fix without losing anything.
I don't know where nandroid backups are made internally but if they are accessible via usb on a pc, then you could just delete those files. If it is indeed full storage. And then dirty flash the build again if needed.
There's probably some other ways to go as well.

internal storage full after flashing a new rom

i9305 says internal storage full when i just flashed a new rom
Hi guys, I'm genuinely lost on how to fix this issue.
Essentially, my i9305, rooted- running pacman rom (stable) android 4.4.4, says that it's internal storage is full. however, I've just flashed the rom onto it. I have cleared the cache, dalvik cache and wiped the phone (through rom manager, cwm) and re-flashed the rom and it persists to say this. When i went though each folder and added the bytes up, i should've had around 9gb available, yet is says i only have 656mb.
I believe the issue lies in the "/data" partition, is it possible to wipe it?
Please help!!!

Are you make backup with TWRP (or cwm..or other recovery)?
Download Clean Master and find big files who kill your memory (after clean, uninstall app)

Newly Installed LineageOS 17.1 -- Storage already full??

Okay I'm new at this. Did the temp root instructions and the flashed LineageOS 17.1 along with Gaaps mini. Everything was going fine with setting up the phone, and now all of a sudden Play store is saying "App requires external storage" if I tried to install anything new. Also got an error when taking a screenshot to show you guys here saying "Can't save screenshot due to limited storage space."
However when I go to settings, it says I've only used 11.28gb of 32gb free. Did I do something wrong? Parts are corrupted? Encrypted? Partitioned?? I appreciate any help in advance.
Edit: I'm thinking this has something to do w/ partitions. In TWRP it says my internal storage is (21.64gb).. when you add that and the 11.28 lineage says I used, that adds up to the full 32gb internal memory. I just did a full format + a full wipe selecting all options in twrp, and still I was able to boot into the same Lineage install (only it was reset and I had to start configuring from scratch again).
Any ideas where I went wrong in this process and how I can start over or merge the partitions??
RESOLVED: Not sure exactly what did it, but in TWRP: did another full wipe on all partitions, did a format, did a repair on system and data, changed file system back and forth to EXT4. Now it's all working.
