Softbrick when trying to downgrade - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Recently I rooted my S5, upgraded to version 5.0 and installed a custom rom.
Took rom off fine with flashfire again.
Then I tried to flash stock firmware 4.4.2 with odin.
and now my phone reads "phone upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.
Tried kies, not sure how to get an emergency recovery code if I don't already have one.
Please help.

If you can get into download mode go to the OP in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3076803
And use the downgrade to NCE file. Flash is in the AP slot in odin 3.09. This should fix you

i flashed a stock KJ1 firmware to root the phone and then i flashed another firmware thru odin. my phone then resrtareted and aftre spash screen showed odin and then it keeps on repeating. im not able to go into recovery and etc etc. please help me!! :
by odin i meant mobile odin...
You have enough posts to know that you can't start Q&A threads in the dev section. Needs to be locked or moved by a mod.
If you splash screen is showing then you shouldn't worry as things can be fixed ...other than that I can't help.

If your phone whas rooted, why flabs with odin again. Take batt out and go to recovery. That is if you flash the seconde time a rooted firmware. That all wipe.

Mobile odib requires root for flashing... So use pc odin to root.. but ul get the yellow triangle... But u can remove the yellow triangle using a jig... There s a tutorial doe that in developmnet section
You could either go for one of the root repacks (the ones which don't give yellow triangle, look for them in dev section) or flash an old firmware and use the zergrush exploit to root. I usually do the second option, I have a KK9 firmware on my hard drive just for that purpose
Once you're on a properly rooted Gingerbread, you can use Mobile Odin Pro to flash ICS and you will retain root.
EDIT: As to rooting directly, don't think you can without getting the yellow triangle

Also see this thread... apparently this is quite a bit easier

Hi
Is it possible to use the same auto root cf-auto-root-sm_g800f_kminilte_xxu1ang7.tar.md5
to the new Firmware G800FXXU1ANJ2 ?
BR
S
I can Answer that question
I used Cf-Auto root, and it works just fine
Device ROOTED
Have you noticed any differences from your older firmware?
All I can see is a new layout in the contacts app.
Can you share a photo about new contact ui? Thx

Quite interesting. I currently have my phone with the firmware G800FXXU1ANG7 rooted by using cf-auto-root-sm_g800f-kminilte-xxu1ang7.tar.md5 as suggested in this post and I'd like to upgrade to G800FXXU1ANJ2. Could you please tell me whether to do it the following steps are correct?
Download the firmware G800FXXU1ANJ2 from sammobile (question: which one should I download? I am in France but not with SFR)
Install it by following the standard instructions
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin zip-file
Open Odin v3.09
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
Root the device by using cf-auto-root-sm_g800f-kminilte-xxu1ang7.tar.md5 with the same file and instructions of this post namely
Download Mode: (VolDn+Home+Power, VolUp)
Odin PDA (AP): cf-auto-root-sm_g800f-kminilte-xxu1ang7.tar.md5
Auto Reboot
Last question: is it advisable to end the installation process by installing TWRP as indicated in this post instead of reflashing the original stock recovery as suggested in the rooting instruction?
Thank you in advance
@castagna
The tools for rooting and recovery are working only in .....ANG7 firmware.
I tried update firmware ......ANJ2 and I was constricted to reinstall ......ANG7 to use root and recovery.
Hi. I am rooted and received update notification Over the air. If i update what will hapen? Only loose root? Will it update without problem?
No root for anl1?
Flash the original CF Auto Root from Chainfire with Odin.
http://download.chainfire.eu/523/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-kminilte-kminiltexx-smg800f.zip
I also have ANL1. It works... :good:
Will try. I do not remember. Flash with what option?

Tried to update ota but it does not install. I get error.should i remove root before via su?
Yes you have to remove Root over SuperSu.
If you have a Custom Recovery (TWRP) flash also the original Recovery.
Now you can download OTA.
During Installation, it could also fail with error String.
This happens if you have previously changed many Things in the System.
I've made two Updates. The first went through well.
In ANL1 it has always stopped at about 30%.
When that happens you can flash the complete Firmware via Odin
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-G800F
Look at the correct Version for your Country or Carrier.
Thanks. With complete Flash it will erase all data?

I 've tried a complete Flash with Odin, the data has not been deleted.:good:
A Firmware with one Part does not delete Data. If the Firmware has three Parts and you flash with Pit file and Re-Partition everything will be deleted. But is not good. Phone can bricked...

Download the firmware you upgraded to or the latest firmware for your phone with samfirm.exe or frija and use Odin to flash phone. Make sure to use all 4 files (BL, AP, CP AND CSC).
First try with home-CSC file and see. If it still boot loops go to Recovery mode and factory reset phone (make sure you remember your google account/ password) and then flash the CSC file (this will reset phone as well).
Also try taking sim card out before flashing. (Don't have to but worth a try.)
Thanks again, I have tried the method above - ODIN (PASSED)
but then - boots up until Samsung logo then reboots.
Is there any other solution ?
