So as title suggest, having hard time accessing the recovery. Cannot into it. So, if you guys dont mind, post here the right combo and sequence, how to access the recovery. I have managed it before, even writen down how its supposed to be done, but doesnt work for me now anymore, the way it used.
// EDIT
And just when i bothered to make this topic, i found how it actually works, by trial and error.
Into BOOTLOADER: Press and hold POWER, then press and hold VOL DOWN, once the logo appears, let go off the POWER, but keep pressing the VOL DOWN until till the bootloader appears.
Past the DEAD DROID, into RECOVERY: Press both POWER and VOL UP, until the recovery meny appears.

You are either doing it wrongly, or the volume-down button isn't working. It's as simple as that.
To diagnose, make absolutely sure that CWM is properly installed by following steps 1-3 in this guide.
EDIT: Actually, if volume-down isn't working, you won't be able to start the phone in NVFlash-mode either.
Then try to start recovery again (also by doing it exactly like the guide says.) If you still can't access CWM, then you know for certain your volume-down key is broken and you need to get the phone repaired.
Maybe a "quick shot" but why not to ask: do you keep power and vol down keys long enough? You have to keep them pressed both for quite a few seconds before CWM mode is activated and CWM menu appears. So, just power off your phone, then keep power and "vol -" buttons pressed until the LG logo changes a bit or the CWM menu appears. On my phone it takes about 15 seconds, so no hurry
Hello All,
I for some reason cannot figure out the button combo to get me into recovery from the phone being off. Anyone know what it is? Thanks!

Hold power and vol down until it turns on and once it gets to the lg logo, release the buttons and press and hold them again until it gets to the factory reset screen. Hit the power button three times and it will boot into your recovery
Sent from my Vs980 Running LiquidSmooth
Thanks fellas!
The phone has to be powered OFF for the stated and linked methods to work for recovery access.
To power the phone off (if, say, you're stuck in a bootloop),
Press and hold the power and Vol- buttons for 10 seconds do not release, hold for an additional 3-5 seconds. The LG logo will flash briefly. When the screen is black, let go of all buttons. Now the phone is off, you may process to use the previously stated commands to enter recovery.
Hold volume down + power until the LG logo appears....once it appears release the power button and repress it and hold until youre into recovery... :good:
Hello all,
I used Mofo to flash Computerfreek274's image 1.5.3a. His thread states that the cache needs to be wiped after flashing. While still in fastboot mode, and after flashing the image, I used the volume keys to select Recovery. Hit the power button and then I have an image of an android that fell over and a red exclamation over it. No text on screen. If I use the volume keys, nothing happens. If I hit the power button the phone turns off.
What step did I miss in the instructions? Or what is the correct procedure to wipe the cache?
Thank you,

You have to hold vol up for a couple seconds and then hit power at the same time. Then release and you will see the menu.

Thank you! I have it wiping now. Initially, from a powered off phone, I tried your steps, but that just booted the phone. For other newbies, here is a more detailed process.
WIth the phone powered off, hold Vol-Down, then press the Power button (while still holding Vol-Down). Release both buttons. Fastboot mode starts. Use vol (arrow) keys to select Recovery mode, then pressed power button. Motorola logo appears, and then the android with the red exclamation mark. No text on screen. Hold down Vol-Up for a few seconds, then press power (while still holding Vol-Up).
Now there is text on screen. Use vol keys for arrow button and highlight "wipe cache partition." Use power button to select this option.
Screen changes to Android standing up with a blue bar at the bottom of the screen.
Now wait. Other threads have stated the wipe may take 30 minutes to complete. Phone should power off once wipe is complete.
Thank you,

Just an update, my wipe completed. It did not take very long. The phone restarted on its own and came right up. Everything working at this point.

Sorry I should have specified that my instructions need to be done from the dead android screen LOL But glad I could help
I was installing a new ROM on my rooted D415 when I realized I forgot to format /System on CWM or else the two ROM's would mix together. Being the person I was... I forgot and now I am stuck at the boot screen. P.S I can not access recovery mode and my computer will not detect my phone no matter how hard I try. I NEED HELP...
You can access recovery by turning off your phone, press together vol- and power buttons. When you see LG logo release and press again power button while still pressing vol-. You will see a screen asking you if you want to format your device. Select YES twice. You should be now in recovery.
Also TWRP is recommended recovery for L90 from what I have heard off.

WOW!!! Thank you so much sir! You deserve that THANKS!
Hey everyone, any help will be apprecaite:
I have a Sprint Note 5 that goes into a boot loop, when I push the Vol. down and home button, it will goto a blue screen "installing system update" and then "no command" and eventually it will go into the Android Recovery screen. I can't do anything on this screen because the power button is broken.
If I push the vol down and home button during the "installing system update" it will go to the warning screen to install a custom OS. The options are Vol. up for Continue, Vol. down for Cancel and Home for Show Barcode. The Vol. up and home buttons do nothing. Pressing Vol. down will restart the phone and proceed to boot loop again. If I was able to continue I can probably reflash using Odin, but it won't.
Does anyone know a way to fix this? thanks!!
Why not replace the power button?
