[Q] XZR Lollipop OTA Update - 5 Problems - Sony Xperia ZR

Hi,
Yesterday I've updated my XZR from kitkat to lollipop and there is my few but big problems i have with new system:
1) Almost all my sounds are more quiet than it was on kitkat, especially in alarm clock which is most important for me to be loud
2) Incomming calls when display is off, its ok and contakt pics are over whole display but when somebody call me when i have display turner on, i get only small notification on the bottom of the screen
3) Seems like proximity sensor is not what it used to be...Often when i calling and then call is over, I look on the screen and there are launched some applications or status bar is rolled down or something like that
4) Baterry draining is brutal! When I have my phone in stand by mode almost for whole day (only 5 minutes of calling and some sms) its hard to reach 1 day on battery but in battery manager is Android OS 30% and Google play services 25%....other apps are around 5-10%
5) Camere - there I've 2 problems:
- first of all i can't turn of that chilling sound when i starting camera app (in kitkat i selected vibration mode and it was done, no chilling sound)
- can't choose my own app to open just captured photos (in right bottom corner when i tap on last captured photo, it is always opened by Album app, but i want it to open with Quicpic by default)
Can anyone please help my with those problems? At least some of them Thank you so much

There isn't anyone who can help or explain me, how to deal with those problems?

[Android] Total Screen Control (updated on 12 April)

I would like to take the opportunity given by XDA forum and share with you my application, named "Total Screen Control".
I would be more than happy if I will receive through this thread opinions, features requests, bug fixes requests, new ideas, anything that could improve the application.

Thanks, I have only Android in my head, I didn't realize that it could be also for other platforms
Yeah, quite surprised that XDA hasnt created sub-forums for the different OS's aswell as mandatory topic titling.
Very nice idea though and thaks for posting info on your app bud
Really a good app , it could help me use lowest brightness value to save my battery.
But what i got a highly battery usaege on this app..... too bad~~~ Could some one tell me what's going on ?
My phone is idle , i even did not use it when i plug out the ac.
But ..
great app but it crashes everytime i try to change one of the settings :/
A great app, I like this.
Great app. working so far fine. No crashe....till now I can not confirm that battery problem.

Ok I have got an equal result like you. 82% usage for the last 1h 20 min....Gonna keep it for a while on my device and watch its usage with the monitoring function of the app "SystemPanel".
Here is a screen shot of the usage
Hi guys,
thanks for your feedback:
Regarding battery use, this is something it needs deeper investigations, I have also encountered this high battery use REPORT but not always and I have gathered the following info:
- This is related only to ScreenOn Lock based on Sensor Orientation feature. So anyone that doesn't need this function just disable it and 99% that this usage will not appear anymore
- For the others, who find this feature useful there are 2 remarks:
1. First is a quote from another, much known application who's users reported also this high usage report:
* Battery usage is an insanely misleading stat. Many people assume that it means "80% of my battery was consumed by ****", and consequently, "if ***** were not running, my battery would last 80% longer". This simply isn't true. It's not even close. I've tried to get clear answers from Google on what the stat actually means, but haven't gotten more than "the amount of power consumed by an app when it is running". ***** doesn't run much.
* Some phones appear to get confused and attribute nearly all system battery usage to *****. This problem is not unique ******, and in fact applications such as Locale have started providing disclaimers for certain devices to warn users of the issues.
* ***** still suspends itself whenever the screen is turned off. The ***** service puts all threads into a sleep state using Thread.sleep(99999999999). It's possible that the Service is still being attributed some kind of resource usage since it hasn't been terminated (even though the threads have been suspended). I'm looking into this. At this point from what I can tell, there are no running threads once the screen is turned off...
I'm continuing to look into this, as I'm getting absolutely hammered at this point from a ratings (and consequently sales perspective), but I'm not sure that there is much I'm going to be able to do about improving the battery usage stats on specific devices.
The bottom line is this: ***** either improves your phone's battery life or it doesn't, regardless of what the battery stats say. On my Nexus One, ***** averages around 2-3% on the stats list. Sometimes it goes higher, but will generally drift back down to around that level.
2. This occurs randomly, please try to reboot your phone and check if the usage is still high.

I'm using also System Panel and there it could be clearly seen that Total CPU Time and Average Consumption for Total Screen are in limits.

Thanks muntos. I like this app because the function on it equal to Screebl + Screen Filter .And I only need to use one app.
The "ScreenOn Lock" is same as Screebl. But i notice that when i use screebl it only have about 2~3% battery useage.
Hope you could find out the root cause about the heavily battery usage.
FYI , my phone is Galaxy S I9000.
BTW , How many days for trial version?

My Phone it's also Galaxy S I9000. Please, could you do a phone reboot and then check if the same high values are shown in Battery use ?
Regarding trial version, as this moment you can check when the version expires by going to menu->about, but check in the Market when an update appears, this will extend the trial period.

...I found when my trial expire , the "screen on lock" function automatically been disable , that's why I got a lower battery useage.
And I have a suggestion when the trial expire , I hope I have a chance to disable the Total Screen Control service , everytime I only been stick on "buy" or "close" option , but the service is still been enable there and i have no chance to disable it.
...It make me only have one option to uninstall it , too bad...

Moto Display issues after 6.0 update

Hello All,
The new update is really smooth but it seems to have affected my favorite feature Moto Display with some weird issues.
1) DND doesn't automatically deactivate the sensors like Moto Assist used to keep the screen dark and the phone still flashes notifications at night. Does that consumer battery and affect Doze?
2) We cand choose the screen to go dark from 11pm-6am in Moto Display, but they removed the option to define custom timings. So now its either 11pm-6am or have the phone flash notification all night?
3) The flashing interval for Moto Display also seems to have been reduced and it flashes too often now, which becomes a little annoying if the phone is in front of you.
Are these issues for everyone or am I missing something? Any comments or workarounds would be helpful.

I own Moto X 2014, but still Lollipop, not receive Marshmallow yet. But i find some changlog on Motorola, I see :
Sleeping and Meeting - to keep your phone quiet while you are sleeping or while you are busy in a meeting you may wish to consider using the Do not disturb feature from Android. To set it up, swipe the status bar down with two fingers and tap the gear icon at the top right corner of your screen. Once in the Settings menu, scroll down and tap Sound & notification, then go to Do not disturb. To keep your screen dark while you are sleeping, open the Moto app, tap the icon on the top right corner of your screen, then go to Display and set the time under Keep screen dark.

Tap the time in Moto display settings to choose what hours you would like the display to be off. The features in Marshmallow just have been relocated from what they were in Lollipop.
Ok, sorry. I got it. I tried hitting the numbers earlier but it just got deselected. Trying to tap those ain't easy with your thumb I guess. Worked now. Thanks guys!
Sent from my Moto X 2014.

But the Moto Display assist doesn't work with Marshmallow.... At least the icons don't appear....

Issues after latest upgrade to lollipop

So...i was not keep to upgrading but i had no choice as i could/t shot off the pop-up so i had to upgrade....now, there are the following issues:
1. MESSAGING - using the built in messaging app - after attaching a photo to the text message, it is being SENT automatically - i cannot add text to it or be able to review to photo and other info... all photos are being send immediately after attachment as it/s own entity... B4 update, I could write a message and attach a photo in the SAME text message
2. LOCK SCREEN - notifications ( for a new message or email, etc) now appears as a wide band across lock screen - you can choose to see content, hide content or not see at all - there fore, not able to see the clock +weather on the lock screen, as when the notifications pop-up, the clock is being squished out of the way and pushed up and shank to a tiny little thing you can barely see if you look up close - I try to disable the notifications on the lock screen, but all that did was to not notify me at all about anything - B$ the upgrade, all notifications appeared ad small icons on the upper left side of the notification panel ... can i fix this?
3. EMAIL - a) - using default email app - i am not able to download attachments ( vary in size from 60KB to much higher) when not connected to Wi-Fi ( through the data connection ) - B4 upgrade this was possible with no problems
b) - i would like to be able to download the attachments automatically ( when the email is synched, then the attachment s/b downloaded as well, without me having to download manually) - can I set this somewhere?
4. CALLS - noticing it is now hard to hear people calling me, i get an echo, or interruptions or pinging sound and call quality it not that clear anymore - B$ update, it was CRYSTAL CLEAR !!!
I am up for an upgrade and I was desperately waiting for the note 5 - I was hopping for a bigger screen and some more better/nicer issues - so...note to SAMSUNG !!!!! - come up with something better, otherwise "IF IT AIN'T BROKE,DON'T FIX IT !!!!!!!!! - make a bigger screen !!!! ( forget about the EDGE...THAT'S kinda stupid !!!!) make more, nicer color choices... AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY... BRING BACK THE REMOVABLE BATTERY
UNTIL THEN, I WILL BE STICKING WITH MY NOTE 4....lost a good customer... !!!

Buggy notifications - Pie

Freshly installed Pie.
There is alarm clock setup and two hours before there is icon in the notification area and random sounds (like new message received).
Also found out those random notification sounds even when there is no notification or if there is viber message notification - few random sounds will repeat after.
I did not face those issues previously when Pie was installed as upgrade on top of Oreo, but newly installed creates problem.
p.s. I'm still pissed off from Novatek bad display so I hope I can get rid of this device
+1 also got random notifications without there beeing one.
I think it could be related to the option display ambient with the option turn on periodically
@Rubens95 - true.Amazing to put it in Display-Ambient-New notifications - repeat every 2 minutes.
Thanks.
Now one issue is left - random notifications without any even, but they are rare and not so annoying.
Cheers

It seems HMD Global finally found the killer app, but unfortunately it is killing other apps!
https://dontkillmyapp.com/nokia?1
Nokia on Android P kills any background process including sleep tracking (or any other sport tracking) after 20 minutes if the screen is off. Also when killed all alarms are stopped which renders for example any alarm clock apps useless.
This is not my work...
Found this from a AdroidPolice article
DontKillMyApp.com shames OEMs that needlessly kill useful background processes to save battery life
After killing this app, now Google Fit and all other notifications and alarms work again. Yeeeee!
That's bad reputation from their side. Disappointing.
But my issue was the 'Ambient Display' - anyway thanks for sharing.

Personal pros & cons after a month use

My phone is Global ROM PFGMIXM 10.3.5.0.
Model M1901F7G. Bootloader locked. Many apps were removed using SAKI program.
I mainly use my phone for gaming, listening to music, messagings, and browsing internet. I experience no lag at all even when I play pubg.
Overall I'm more than satisfied with this phone, especially when compared to my previous phone, Samsung J7. Below are my random thoughts/nitpickings/wish on the phone and things I noticed through my daily usage. It's really subjective opinion of mine, but could be more intriguing than most of those same boring reviews you can find on YouTube. If anybody knows how to fix or can suggest for workaround for my complaints, please let me know.
Pros:
Bluetooth headphones' remaining battery % can be checked in bluetooth connected device inside settings.
Removing app vault and Google app using SAKI program seem to have noticeably extended the battery life.
Unlocking with finger print really is responsive.
Because battery lasts really long time and it charges super fast with Q3 charger, I don't even charge it over 70% these days. Q4 charger is overkill too.
Headphone sound quality is surprisingly good. Comes with many presets you can choose from. Also LDAC audio codes is supported. Great for Sony headphones.
Available RAM increased by 0.1GB after uninstalling app vault and disabling it inside Home screen & Recents setting.
Cons:
When I set timer in clock, it doesn't show how many minutes left in notification bar, instead it shows what time the timer will go off. I wish it showed countdown time.
When I receive WhatsApp message, it doesn't give notification although I didn't disable it. This is pretty bad.
Golf clash app suddenly shut it self down. Happens once in 3 days or so, pisses me off when I go out of time because of this. I've reinstalled the app after the last crash and that might have solved it, didn't crash for 2, 3 days now.
When I play pubg for long time, sometimes the phone gets quite hot.
I've seen MI shopping/payment icon showing up in notification bar while browsing internet with chrome. This was very strange because I've removed all the MI apps through saki already 10 days ago. It's the icon that looks like shopping bag with "M" in the bag.
After uninstalling Google app, if I swipe up from home button, screen is covered with blank Google app remainder. This can only be solved if I changed launcher as I understand because there is an integration of Google app in MIUI launcher. Something minor and I'm not changing the launcher just for this.
Stock weather app update only once a day. This really bothers me. If I install 3rd party weather and time app and its widget, I can choose to update hourly. But then the time in notification bar shows up when in home screen. I don't need 2 times shown in home screen.
Stock camera can't be removed.
Can't choose gcam as default app to launch it by pressing volume down button twice.
