I've ran the Speedtest from my labtop and S6 edge on the same AP separately from my desk. I've ran the test 3 times and the results were consistently faster by 10Mbps (down and up) from the labtop than S6 edge. It seems something is limiting the Wi-fi speed on S6. Is there anything I can do to bring the Wi-Fi speed of S6 equal to labtop?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's pretty normal variance. Different hardware, different results.... ie.., Both on 5ghz network w/900mbs WiFi rate and blast Internet at 125ish down..
My laptop with Killer WiFi blah blah brand new, 120+- down pretty consistent.
Rooted S6E 2 days old 115mbps down +- a few.
I'd say all is normal, unless your laptop is 120+ and phone at 30.... then there is an issue.
try to activate air plan mode .. then deactivate it

Hi All
Had my HD7 for a few weeks now and im liking it, used to be an IPhone user but thats all changed now.
One thing i want to know is that the HD7 is stated as having wireless N capabilities. When im on my wireless N network at home im getting really slow responses from the browser or when downloading apps from the market place (like im on GPRS or non wifi). I have a wireless N network setup and also have 50mb Cable so its not a problem with the LAN/WAN as i can download lightening fast with the lappy or even when i had the Iphone on the same LAN.
Anyone else noticed that the wifi is not very fast? Also is there a "speed test" app that can tell me the sorta speed im getting, used to be one on the Iphone, but obviously cant be flash based, which are most on the web. Did find one non flash based site but im not convinced its that good.
Any advise is appreciated.
I use tracert's non-flash based bandwidth meter and seem to get low reading as well. my max. bandwidth is 15 Mbps yet my HD7 usually tests well below 10 Mbps. Odd. In terms of downloads though, my HD7 is speedy. I downloaded NFS from Xbox Live and calculated it was downloading at about 1 MB/s (which is fair for a 15 Mbps connection). So maybe the speed tests are off.
no problems for me.
It's weird that on IE on the HD2 you could use speedtest.net to test speeds, but on the hd7, it says you don't have the proper flash installed....
Hd 7 dosent support flash yet, maybe with update next year.. as far as I know this is the best device for my wifi although its not N
Hero used to struggle with my wifi but the hd 7 is super brilliant..
Just love it on this one
No problems here. And when it comes to browsing this thing is a pure joy ! Imagine when they will update the browser with Flash 10.1 and overall speed. I browsed today a little longer then usual and when I got home and turned my PC on it all felt boring. This is the first time I am experiencing a far more enjoyable browsing on my phone rather than my PC.
They have done an amazing job
mmm must just be mine then, an app from marketplace on the phone took about 3 minutes to download while on wifi and its just a small notes app. Weird! Ill keep having a look at whats going on.
It's surely something with your phone or with the WLAN. When I am home I am browsing only via WiFi and in my room I only get low signal but even then it runs pretty fast.
I have to disable cellular data and 3g to make my WiFi fast on my hd7. I'm on tmobile and in an edge coverage area. It seems that the phone prefers cellular data over WiFi even when there is a clear speed advantage in WiFi.
I have experienced zero problems with the HD7 over wifi. This is also with T-Mobile coverage in an edge only area. Settings allow for all network types including 3G.
Well im surprised because my experience in Puerto Rico with the hd7 on the internet speed its noe the best.
When use the app's for speed test never come colse to 1 mega and the faster speed its around 400 kpbs its T-Mobile or the phone really i'm think its the phone because my wife have an Lg optimus with android and the same t-mobile but the speed its around 1.2 and 1.5 mbps so if any one have the solutions wow i'm apreaciate to hear about.
I put CM7 on it the first night I got it so I can't say for sure if it was this way stock, but my Nook Color barely sees my wifi router an won't connect. My LG G2x phone gets 30-50% signal and my Sony VPC1280 laptop gets full signal (it's got fantastic wifi reception).
Is this typical? Well below average wifi reception?
I may need to get a repeater or something. Moving the main router closer to the area I want to use is not an option.
I'm not sure about the wifi reception in general for the NC but for me it works as well as my laptop which is pretty darn good.
My NC connects just fine to my wifi router at home (can't remember brand/model unfortunately), but the transfer rates are pretty bad (3 down, <1 up). My G2 phone gets very good transfer rates (9 down, 3 up). Not sure how to make it better.
I have the same problem... my NC has trouble picking up a WiFi signal in certain places in my house that my other WiFi devices don't.
My guess is that the WiFi antenna is placed where my hands block while holding it or I just have too much interference in my home.
I say slow because they are much slower that a Galaxy S4 and Note 3. At work today we were testing out a Belkin AC router to a cable modem. Using the Speedtest.net app the galaxy's were reliably hitting 200-210 Mbs download speeds. My new One was only able to muster 95Mbs down. I come home and connect to my ASUS N66 router and I'm able to hit 104Mbs reliably. What gives? This makes no sense to me. I verified I had a 433 Mbs link when on the AC router at work, same as the Samsungs, we were all in the same location I even tried standing where they were and holding the phone differently in-case I was blocking the antenna. I never expected to be able to get 104 down at home standing one room and 30 feet for the router. Is there something weird going on with the app maybe?

In WiFi advanced settings, disable WiFi optimization - other uses stated it helped them to increase the speeds.

Thanks I read that and tried it to no avail. Speeds were better yesterday at 150Mbs and inline with a coworkers brand new ONE running 4.3. I believe it is just a matter of how HTC deals with packet size (windowing) and not truly indicative of throughput capability. The test runs for a limited time and the throughput increased throughout the entire test. If it ran longer it would climb higher but just how high is the question.
It's a matter of curiosity more than anything as I never need those speeds nor are the repeatable anywhere but in that test"lab" In reality I only have a 100M connection at home and with power boost see speeds of 150 max. I get 100+ reliably (5Ghz N network) to the phone from my main living space and that's nothing to complain about.
I will have to say the range on the ONE is outstanding. My desk is 100 feet from the AP and I was able to obtain 125Mbs reliably from my desk. I didn't have the chance to compare it to the S4 at that distance but I can't complain about that speed.
I have the S2 8.0 and the Nexus 7 and have to say I notice this new S2 really has poor network performance when connecting to the same wireless AP. Even side by side I notice specific lag with making network connections.
No, sorry. Mine is really good - seems to be better than my iPad Air!
Yeah not brilliant, my Xperia phone has better WiFi signal but it's better than my Galaxy Tab Pro.
My WiFi performance on the SM-T815 9,7LTE is awesome. Got a 100tsd cable Internet, and on 5ghz WLAN I got downloads up to 90Mbps and 90Mbps up . And this stable and constant. Download of 2GB takes a few sec,......

Yes, I noticed the same. My N7 2013 has far better wifi performance than the S2 8" (SM-T710).
Wifi is good with my S2 9.7 inch... no problems so far.
My S2 8" T710 sometimes has very fast wifi and suddenly it stops and waits so long until it works again.
I noticed that the T810 drops wifi at points in the house were the ME176 has slow reception. (but doesn't drop) It could be better.
I have really slow wifi as well, and i expect this the reason for my other issue of lags in scrolling though Web pages. I have a 9.7 inch version. Anybody has a solution? Otherwise I will contact samsung...
have s2 8 and it has the best WiFi of any tablet I've owned (nook, both n7s, n9)
Sent from my Nexus 5
I don't know how the Note 4 rates, but it shows a similar strength reception to my 710 when I'm walking around the house with WiFi Analyzer on (Checking if there are clashing channels with my neighbour's routers which they have on 'auto-channel'.)
I certainly haven't noticed any sudden freezes or 'drop-outs'.
My second day with the tablet so just a days worth of observations. In general it's blazing fast on my AC router. I did a speed test and hit 53 down, 18 up, 10 sec ping on a 50/15 connection (one room away from my router). Play store downloads i.e. huge down download FAST. However there were a handful of times where I got big time slowdowns, even some hangs. This were mostly while browsing in Firefox. During one session I couldn't even get Ars Technica to load and even the Firefox addons page was taking forevvvers to load. That happened a couple of times but the rest of the day my browsing etc. speeds were fine.
@stateit so far my impression vs. my Note 4, the tablet probably has a slight edge in a speed test, but the speeds are very close in normal use. Out of the two I would definitely deem the N4 more consistent. I think I've had trouble loading a webpage once in a year of N4 ownership so I checked it on my PC and the domain was actually down.
No "problems" with the S2 though... was just messing with it thoroughly today and noticed that rare lag. I'm really glad I got it (JUMPed from a 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1).
I can't even connect to some wifi networks....
beep
Same here, very poor signal strength... Any solution?
Rate this thread to express how you think the LG V20's Wifi performs. A higher rating indicates that it has excellent range, throughput, and signal strength. Like when you're taking a dump in the bedroom upstairs, do your videos have to buffer or do they come through without interruption?

WIFI Multi Route Network Problem
I am having problems with wifi on my work network in the office. The explanation I got from our IT department is that the phone is having troubles with multi route setting on the network. Wifi home works without problems, but wifi at the office is not working at all. It is showing as connected but you cannot open any page nor get any internet access through any app. Anybody having this issue?
This is the first phone I've owned that has been able to fully utilize my home internet speeds. Every other phone has reduced the speeds by as much as half, and sometimes as little at 25%.
The auto switch between wifi and mobile data works great. There was nothing more frustrating than sitting in my car in front of my house, trying to pull up navigation and the phone running horrendously slow because it wanted to use my wifi that was 100 feet and 16 walls away, just because there was a signal.
I had the same issue with my wi-fi and internet signal for a time. Have you tried checking the phone lines in your area? Stactic noise in the lines may affect the stability of the signal. Have an IT expert check and replace the line if necessary to hopefully resolve the issue.
Signal strength is better than my note 7 before I sent not back I ran test checking data strength. I walked outside up the street connected to home wifi note lost connect 7 houses up the street v20 i was near 9th house
GPS accuracy, Lock speed, and reliability is poor for me. Can we vote on that?
My V20 is head and shoulders better than my Note 7 when it comes to networking performance. I had real, serious issues with throughput on the N7. My Note 3 would get ~5MB/sec transfers from my home Linux servers' SMB shares, the N7 would get 800-1000KB on a good day. The V20 is on par with the N3 on SMB, but where it REALLY shines is encrypted transfers via SCP. I can do SCP file copies at 80MB/sec reliably. It's amazing. I'm guessing we have some sort of encryption offload chip in the phone or something.
Does anyone else have this issue where the wifi cuts in and out every 30 minutes or so? I have a Netgear WNDR3400 router and I'm on Nougat 7.0
very lg-v20
lg v20 perfect phone-very speed.
my favorite phone
I agree man. Very speed. Much phone. Wow.

Auto Proxy
OK so I investigated the issue of not having internet through WIFI although connected to network, and the issue is that the phone cannot use auto proxy? My LG G4 did not have this issue. Setting up manual proxy through Drony app solves the issue. Any way to get this working straight out of android? Seems like 7.0 took a step back in usability.
I have a Asus AC68U router and the LG V20 reports the connection speed as 78Mbps, whereas my S7 Edge shows the speed as 173Mbps while connected to the same network.
Why is the V20 connecting at such a slow speed? Have reset the router, turned off Wifi optimisation on the phone, but speeds have not improved.
Is there anything else I can try out?

I have the same router. Mske sure you are connected to 5ghz and you will get adequate speed. I have no problems.
Wifi strength is good, a lot better than my G3. The download speeds are a little less than my laptop, like 35 vs 50 and 70 on 2 laptops, they may be connecting to different severs though, the speed seems to vary more on the phone. Sometimes it's slow to switch over to LTE when moving out of wifi range. Tells me no internet connection when wifi is too weak to get a good signal. Mainly an issue I think with a weak wifi signal that it's still trying to connect to.

What steps do you go through to make your v20 connect to work wifi? Solution to my issue: Not sure if it was a combination of things or just solely this tip from an LG rep:
Go to: Settings>Apps> (3 dots top left) > Show System> Wi-Fi > (storage>clear cache & clear data)
Tried connecting to Wifi after that and it worked on my v20. Also I entered in slightly different info in my work wifi splash page which may or may not have made a difference.
Hello, has anyone had a problem that they cannot connect to 5G on your router? My phone will not connect to 5G what ever I do, but will connect no problem to 2.4G. I've tested it with several different routers and all my other devices connect without any problems.
WiFi Issues
I was having issues with my WiFi at home only. Connected everywhere else. I found a post on this site that helped. The post was for a different issue. I just looked at all of the other settings that were available and did a little experimenting. My issue is fixed. WiFi is now good everywhere!!! I have T-Mobile so I am not sure if it will work with other carriers.
Dial-er code that got me to the right menu.

I found that taking the metal back off my v20 improved download speed significantly!
I reported that in the discussion about people unable to get 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
