Ok I'm about go insane I have just updated to the latest version for this phone Lolipop 5.0.2 and now I have no root and been trying to figure out how to get root or how to go back to a official version like 4.4.3 or 4.4.2 but I'm just so frustrated I can't focus or even read really feel like throwing this phone off a cliff... please help me btw I have tried KingRoot and it does work but once my phone turns off and back on it doesn't wanna work anymore any help is really appreciated maybe try to make it a little simpler for me to understand and my theory with KingRoot is that after the first use the second time around its like while KingRoot is trying to get root access during the process my phone just deletes kinguser because my es file explorer ask me if I want to delete the files that kinguser left behind.

Its very simple you'll see.
flash latest twrp recovery for sprint
boot in twrp recovery
exit twrp recovery
when trying to exit you'll be prompted to install root on the phone
select "yes"
wait for the phone to reboot
or
Flash any custom recovery of your choice, as long as its compatible with the sprint variant of M7
boot in your custom recovery
flash supersu2.46.zip in recovery
reboot
If your phone isn't already bootloader unlocked, you can't unlock it from htcdev.com since Verizon asked HTC to block bootloader unlock for their phones. In that case you will need to temp root your phone so you can s-off it and unlock it using sunshine. Once s-off and unlocked you can root using what said above.
everything explained here http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...root-root-method-bl-unlock-5-0-x-ota-t3122099
I hate Verizon.... And I can't afford sunshine right now so I'm stuck :c

yay ik what you're saying but I really do like the LG G2 I have been using the htc one for about 2 years now and the only big feature I really loved about it is Beats Audio so I think I'm gonna sell this phone or try to trade it for the G2.

Good luck selling the Verizon variant of the M7, you can get a brand new verizon htc one for 119$ off contract so I guess you could maybe have 60$ for a used one if its in mint condition. Trading it for another phone would be a better idea imo if you are tired of this phone. I would simply buy sunshine and keep using this one, but thats only my opinon, I don't see the point in changing a 2013 phone for another 2013 phone...Its not like if it was an upgrade....

I'm thinking about getting a One coming from my Nexus 4. One simple question, is the T-mobile version of the One have a Firmware or Update lock like the S4 and Droid DNA did? Such as, not being able to root or S-OFF?(not sure if it's verizon only that does this)

You'll be able to root, unlock and s-off with the t-mo version. Although, for less of a learning curve with all of that, and to get the latest android, I would just purchase a nexus 5 if I were you.
Hey there.. Just got a note 3 on 4.2.2 Is there a root method AT ALL? Or anything I can do? Or am I doomed to a truly stock device?
4.2.2 or 4.4.2
4.2.2=yes. kingo root
4.4.2= doomed for now.
And please remember that questions go in the QA section.

4.4.2 is currently doomed. There is a bounty out though for a full unlock and root.
how much you got it for? if you got it full price off contract, you should return it and get the tmobile one. that one has root and unlocked bootloader.

The N3 (att) is an amazing phone ruined with a locked bootloader

Moderator Edit: Link Removed.
No custom recoveries if the bootloader is locked.

As far as I'm concerned this is a fantastic device. If you happen to be on 4.3, it's better now because you can root it. 4.4, you can't; not yet at least. Personally I'm got mine last month on 4.3, rooted it.
Either way, it's an outstanding device with a temporary hiccup. Every device has at least one.
I have searched about the HTC One® M8 Harman/Kardon® edition, and need a link of what others are doing to root , roms, and not harm the features. Rooting is my main concern, unlocked, and s-off. I know backing up my firmware can take me back to kardon. But I have a love for roms, the challenge of tweaking, trying our great devs hard work,. I don't know if rooting knowledge here will damage my device (even though we are all sprint. The help from senior devs and members to link me in the right direction would be a godsend. Just bought my device new for 629., and a brick would kill me before the wife. any advice would be great full. The harmon kodon makes me worried because its barely talked about. Need a basic link to s off and unlock the loader, and root. Recovery....im stumped. Will appreciate any feedback... My htc max was a small project. This version of the m8 has my head depressed. All the best, rob.
Look at this site. I also have the hk version:
http://htconeroot.com/htc-one-root/how-to-root-htc-one-m8/
To s-off, you may have to use the sunshine method (cost 25 bucks I believe). The firewater s-off method worked for me but I hear it doesn't work for the newer phones.

The latest version of Sunshine will also unlock the bootloader so you don't even have to fool with HTC Dev. Also, as a FYI, there is no difference rooting the M8 HK edition versus the standard M8.
I have a question and could find an answer, well maybe a few... First if you have an unlocked version of the m9 directly brought from HTC all updates come from them not any carriers? With that being said if you by a T-Mobile version and get an unlock code from them will updates still come from them or HTC?
Unlocking phone has nothing do with updates. If you have T-Mobile version doesn't matter if it's Sim locked or unlocked, updates still come from T-Mobile. If you want updates from HTC you have to buy the unlocked model or Dev edition directly from HTC site.

You can always use the SunShine app and change your device to any model you want.. including the developer edition and then you will get updates straight from HTC.

Thanks might just do that...is it an easy process?
hi can the T-Mobile Version be unlocked/Rooted?
hi i have an HTC M9 from T-mobile, i was checking the boot loader but it doesn't have the fast boot option, I've played around and i noticed that in download mode the fast boot command worked. so. i was wondering it can be unlocked or if T-mobile Locked it like the Xperia Z1s.
i watched a video on how to root it on "any variant" but theirs have been unlocked, i think they have Developers edition but now im wondering if its just mine that is locked.
yes can verify.. you can sim unlock device. travel a lot so need to be able to pop in a telcel chip. only snag is you need to flash a non-tmobile base rom first, Then it will ask for unlock sim code and your set. can leave it on non-tmobile base rom or like me reflash tmobile rom and your set. hope that helps

Yes, sunshine will s-off your device. That will allow you to change cid and mid and turn your device into a dev edition or any other M9 released. Just note the radio/modem of your phone won't change. It won't gain support for other bands, but some may be disabled depending on the RUU you flash.
I just got my repair order from HTC for the purple tint from camera (warranty) and the rep told me that they flash the os over with what it came out of the box with. Being I told them that since I took the sprint ota to lollipop the phone has horrible lag. Is this true? Anyone have a prior experience with this?

I guess that they are updating repaired devices so hboot is also updated to latest version to make s-off more difficult to achieve...
I would ask them to downgrade anyway, we never know...it worth asking.

And I was hoping they would kick back the os being its laggy as hell stock on sprint 5.1.1 especially texting, the keyboard will freeze mid typing and then after 2-3 seconds puts all letters I hit during freeze up in text body. That was part of my repair complaint. I actually asked if they can downgrade it to what it came out of box with ( told them it was only time phone worked properly) they didn't say no...

my only concern in shipping back my M7 (to Tenn, the US repair station) is that they will relock and unroot with an HBOOT that I will not be able to reverse.
From their email ........
7. Please note that all repaired devices will be set to carrier or HTC specifications, and will be factory reset. We are unable to accommodate requests for non-standard setup or unlocking.
And I guess wipe the beast as well.
Anyone know if that is the case, or do the leave the OS and that stuff alone as long as the phone OS and FW is UtD?
and while I'm at it, should I update the firmware to:
Modified Firmware Without The Red Developer's Warning
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/development/firmware-htc-one-m7-red-warning-wipe-t2965090
sent it back locked and S-Off on OS 4.1, and that's the way it came back. With the cam fixed.
