Hey guys,
Big thanks to @autoprime for mentioning this info on this in the general G4 forum. Figured I'd sum up the steps and repost in our sub-forum for anybody who may be struggling.
If you're like me, you're waiting on root and don't want to accidentally take that new OTA update that was pushed out about a week ago. This OTA has been found to prevent rolling back to previous versions of android, and may also block some/many of the root methods that the developers are preparing to release to us.
If System Update is constantly bugging you to update, follow the directions below:
1) Enable USB Debugging
-Go to About phone and tap on Build number 10 times to enable Dev Options
-Enter Developer Options and enable USB Debugging
2) Download and Install the Debloater tool (this happens on your computer)
-Windows http://rootjunkysdl.com/getdownload.php?file=Gates/DeBloater/Debloater-setup-v3.85.exe
-OSX http://rootjunkysdl.com/getdownload.php?file=Gates/DeBloater/Debloater.v.3.85.dmg
3) Connect your phone via USB. Make sure to install any drivers needed
4) Watch for pop up requesting ADB Access on your phone
5) Launch the Debloater tool
6) Select OK on the popup

}
7) Click the top left button
8) Find LGDMSClient.apk and put a checkmark next to it. Then select Apply at the top
Congratulations! You no longer have to worry about pocket-updating your G4 and not being able to root down the road!
I just ran this and it doesn't show LGDMSClient.apk.....weird

Q; Why this software does not detected my phone?
A; You should tick/enable USB debugging and should be at Settings/Application/Development and Settings/Developer settings :good:

So recently I did a stupid and accidentally switched off my OPO during an update installation and completely screwed it all up. I tried switching it back on only to find that it was stuck in a recovery mode loop. I then hit factory reset in a last ditch attempt to save the poor bugger without flashing it and even that didn't work.
I've then had to resort to flashing it using the OPO toolkit software on my PC however when connecting to the PC, my OPO only shows up as an MTP USB Device and nothing else. I have tried installing recommended Samsung drivers for the phone but I wasn't able to as it the "update drivers" button was greyed out on the MTP USB Device properties window.

Basically, the OPO toolkit will not work as no android devices are recognised by the PC even though an android device is showing up in the control panel.
There is no way I can currently access the settings on my phone due to recovery mode loop obviously.
The last thing I want to do here is end up with being forced to use the OnePlus support which I hope most of you understand why.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Hi,
This thread is being moved to your own dedicated forum , where the experts may be able to help you better.
Good luck!
Put it in downloading mode and then use adb to use the toolkit since bow u don't have a os on the OPO happened with me too but I fixed it this way

Well, few days ago I was bored, so I decided to develop this very simple app which can be an altenative to that "Hardware information" section under "About device" you can find in stock rom.
There also is an option ("Dump all the properties!") which makes a file called "getprop.txt" which lists device's properties; useful to developers when they have to bring up a device tree for building custom roms for a new device or when they have to add the support for a new variant of that device. You can find this file under /sdcard/Android/data/org.alberto97.motoinfo/files/getprop.txt (I have choosen this path because it doesn't need root access and it is always availaible).
This app should work on every Moto/Motorola device (It works well on my 1st and 3rd Moto g).
N.B.: "Manufacture Date" field is available only on those roms which include this commit. Else if you have root access, you can see it from /proc/config/date/ascii. Still not sure why Motorola took another longer (and not working) way in stock rom.

Quick Settings Enabler
Haven't you got root on your phone but you want to use most of features? No problem! Quick Settings Enabler is here for that.
NOTE: only Windows is supported at the moment
If you run a Linux distro, is supposed that you are able to use a command-line utility.
Instructions for GNU/Linux users in a nutshell
You can download ADB here, open terminal in the unzipped folder, connect your phone, then type
HTML:
./adb shell pm grant it.simonesestito.ntiles android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
. Finally, restart the app.
Instructions for Windows users
STEP 1 - Download the ZIP
Download the zip here
Unzip the file you've just downloaded in a folder on your PC.
STEP 2 - Enable Debug USB
Enable Developer Options. To do that you have to go to system settings, open the device info screen (where there is the Android version too), then tap 7 times on Build Number
On your phone, go in Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.
Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable. If a popup is displayed on your device, click Allow.
STEP 3 - Run it
Once you've connected your phone to the PC, open the folder where you have unzipped the .zip, execute the run file
On Windows: double click on run.bat
STEP 4 - Enjoy!
Now you have unlocked all features available without root.
But, how to use the app? Watch the video at https://youtu.be/sczLq0r5AyQ
