So, as a maintainer for PAC-Roms I haven't ventured away from running it in quite some time. But, there are a couple issues we have that come from upstream. So, I'm looking for a rom that has working wifi calling, and doesn't have the VoLTE bug with outgoing calls all showing up as unknown. Also, as many features as possible.
I'm currently running Omni but had to use Gravity Box to somewhat get my custom features fix! Lol. So, I'm open to any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Chroma is a great ROM.
Flashed the 071715 Pac nightly rom(LP mr1) yesterday and it has been working great, volte working fine. Not sure if WiFi calling works as I have VZW. Other excellent roms are Benzo, aosip and pure

I know about PAC, I'm a maintainer. And VoLTE leaves every outgoing call labeled as 'Unknown'

Firstly I recommend PureNexus by Beans...its awesome, has Layers, and I'm using Elite kernel. That's aosp based...obviously. Lol. Secondly I highly recommend Spring from Per...probably the best, most stable, clean running CM based ROM out...period. He builds his own kernel which is phenomenal and I suggest staying with his baked in one.

Hi!
I'm have been using PAC-ROM 4.4.Alpha-1 nightly build 2014--03-09.
Perfectly stable... except for the call logs which never seems to register any missed calls.
LOL, a phone that can do everything except calling back missed calls, the irony.
Perhaps you guys/gals came across a flawless ROM?
Post it here!
I think I got screen with even more up time. It was stock 4.3

You can give AOKP a try if you are okay with using os without custom ui
Hi @peterhuh
Welcome to XDA! We typically do not allow best/most stable ROM or kernel threads here. The reason being is that the answer to the question is always subjective. There are many great ROM's and kernels in the dev section. Try a few out for yourself. What you think works best for you may be different than what others may tell you.

I don't know if this is allowed but with the tons of roms available for the nexus 6 I am not too sure which one to get.
I would really like one that has Working Wifi Calling, Unlimited Tethering, prefferably 5.1.1, the theme customization of Cyanogenmod where i can change the look of practically everything on it.
AOSiP

Chroma has everything you need but the CM theme engine. However, it is layers compatible. I prefer layers because of some of the negative things I have seen lately regarding the CM theme engine to include security flaws.
Layers is still new so all the theme bugs aren't all ironed out. But as far as I know, it lacks the flaws that CM has.
I'll put in a good word for Benzo, a full-featured, versatile ROM and kernel with everything you could ever wish for in terms of customization. The developer is extremely dedicated and he releases updates frequently. Good support as well. Give it a spin.

Android app aint letting me load that link ?
But I been running Euphoria OS latest nightly on my phone and enjoy it. I wasn't sure if there were any similar ROMs that have more features.. Plus I'm not sure if WiFi calling works on this ROM with T-Mobile

Might have to give that one a try. I see that its built for google Fi so I plan on getting on that once I get a invite
I have the h811 and if I flash any custom ROM I have calling issues it don't matter if its cm or aosp.what happens is when I am at home I can make and receive calls no problems.when I leave home and it jumps towers it locks on LTE and I can have full bars but if I call out it rings for 10 seconds and hangs up with no ringing.if someone calls me it rings on there end but not mine.I still can use SMS,MMS,internet but no calls.as soon as I get back home and it jumps back on the tower calls work fine.if I use the rooted stock T-Mobile ROM the issue goes away.
Yes not all custom roms support full radio bands. If band frequencies are important to you, use stock based roms. CM based roms yet to support VoLTE for our device. Well at least for T-Mobile variant anyways.

Thank you for the answer.is there any custom roms besides the stock ones that do support all bands?
Yeah just look at each page those aren't using CM based. Usually they let you know in description page. That's it

So look at aosp based?and what exactly do i look for.sorry for the dumb questions still trying to learn all this.
For the purpose of this discussion, CM and AOSP are essentially the same. They aren't exactly, but neither is based on LG/T-Mobile stock.
Look for ones that are 20i-based, which basically narrows it down to Prometheus, Genisys, and xTreme.

Hi,
Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place. If not, please let me know.
I just bought a Mi Mix last week and am wondering which ROM is best for me. I had been using a Nexus 6 with Pure Nexus which works very well for my needs. Given that, and the following requirements, which ROM would be best for the Mi Mix?
1. Double tap to wake.
2. Not MIUI (I really don't like it).
3. Stable (I'd like to load once and not have to flash new ROMs very often).
4. Nougat 7.1.2
5. Lots of customization options.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, welcome to the yard.
Simply all your criterions are telling like you'll get what you want by Resurrection Remix rom. Second shot perhaps should be the AOSiP rom.

Right now I think AOSiP is the most rounded of them all right now. Just my opinion though.
AICP. It works best for me, has all the customizations you need but isn't as overloaded as RR.
You dont want miui, but sadly epicrom is the fastest in my experience. I tried rr it is recommended.
I loaded Resurrection Remix last night and it was working well until I tried to run the SquareHome launcher. It kept crashing so I then tried Lineage but it went into a reboot loop shortly after the initial start around where you enter the wireless information. So then I flashed AOSiP and it also went into a reboot loop at about the same point. I wiped everything each time. So at this point I flashed RR again just to see if it would load without rebooting and it worked fine. Fortunately I was able to figure out why the SquareHome launcher wasn't working so it's all good now too. Everything with RR seems to be working fine so far but I haven't used it very much yet.
However, I'm curious why the others caused the reboot loop problem. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Update: I have the YouTube slowness and audio problem so I'm guessing my firmware needs to be updated. Could that have caused the reboot issue with AOSiP and Lineage also?
Thanks for all the help!

Not sure, but the video slowness and audio problem is caused by the dated firmware, try flashing the 7.7.20 firmware found in the RR thread.
I will also recommend you to try ViperOS , it doesnt have much support but the rom is smooth with great battery life (compared to other AOSP/Lineage based roms in my experience) and the performance is very good with no need of a custom kernel.

I have tried every rom for the Mi Mix and the ViperOs is the perfect fit. It's probably the closet to Pure Nexus. I get 8 hours screen time easily, very smooth and very customizable, I love it

I've been having a couple weird things with RR (intermittent proximity sensor and a couple random reboots) so I flashed ViperOs. It seems pretty awesome so far. Thanks!
ViperOs is awesome. Unfortunately I've decided to sell the Mi Mix. I've tried but I just can't get past the audio quality from the 'earpiece' during calls.
Anyone interested in a good deal on a basically brand new Mi Mix 6/256? U.S. only please. Thanks.

Sadly, yes. As I mentioned, I just can't get past the earpiece limitations. My hearing isn't the best and I'm having problems with hearing and understanding callers compared to other phones I have. I really love the phone (that screen! and that battery life!) but I need to use it as a phone which just isn't working for me.

Damn, is the sound that bad during calls? I'm in the process of setting mine up. Waiting the 72 hours to unlock my bootloader. Which rom did you find to suit your needs the best? An how much you asking for your mix?

It may not be that bad for everyone. My hearing isn't the greatest so I'm sure that factors in. The best ROM I used in the short time I was using it is ViperOS. I've got it on Swappa right now for $415 but that's a little flexible.
Thanks.

Oh ok gotcha, do you remember which twrp you used with viper rom? I might be interested in your mix, my girl seem mine an how good the camera is so of course if I get mine set up an everything working good an have a good signal in the US northeast, she wants one lol I'll pm you on it at that time, if it isn't sold we'll figure something out.
+1 for RR.
I was exactly just like you, came from N6 and I am happy with this ROM.
Hey all (however many of you are left ). What ROM/Kernel are y'all on? I wanted to try Oreo so I left Pure Nexus (my favorite) for Validus, with the kernel it comes with, but it's SOOOOO slow, and the battery life is terrible, and RRs. Otherwise I would love it. Lots of features! Looking to switch to something. Ideas? ROMs I'm thinking Nitro or maybe back to PN 7.1.2., but kernel no idea. I didn't like Elemental at all, really slow for me, even when I activated his performance profile. Franco's was good for me, but I wanna bump the thermal throttle and it doesn't have the option (idk how to do it in build.prop or whereever). Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!
Read through this thread: Oreo 8.0 Custom ROM's popping up everywhere. I'm using the ABC ROM built for the N6 and find it a more than satisfactory replacement for PN. If you flash a kernel on top of Beltz or ABC, they don't want to hear about problems though.

I've been on Pure Nexus and have been concerned about security updates, so I'm also looking for a supported rom.
I don't care if it's oreo or not, I just want a rom that has updated security patches.
I switched from Pure Nexus to Nitrogen a couple of months ago. Aside from a couple of niggly things it's a very stable ROM with latest security and Android 8.1.

Currently on the latest Nitrogen build too and other than BT being annoying with me (sometimes disconnects, usually can listen for hours no interruptions so not bad) it's amazing. People in the thread say EX kernel fixes that but I think you need the paid app for the Oreo version.

I'm using Beltz ROM with default kernel. The battery life is surprisingly good considering it's a 3.25 year old phone
I'm using resurrection remix 7.1.2 with Franco kernel, and Neo is using the latest January security patches.. PureNexus was by far the best ROM as far as smoothness and reliability, I hope that nitrogen can sort out the bugs cuz I used it but I would get random reboots when I used Uber driver..but I don't on my current ROM..
Nitrogen with inbuilt kernel. Was running elemental x, but battery turned out to be better with the default kernel.have not had any bugs, any FC's , or any issues. If u clean flash u will not have any probs.
I've tried about 6 different Oreo roms so far, (and I'm thankful that there are so many considering the age of this phone), and currently running the latest Dirty Unicorns RC build and really like it a lot. They all just keep getting better each version that comes out. You just have to see what one works the best for you keeping in mind some will be adding features while others prefer not to.
