I have a Rogers HTC Dream. I've had it for months now. I recently upgraded it to the newest version (1.86).
I was just fiddling with a new app I downloaded - "shake alarm" (where you need to shake it to stop the alarm) from the market. to test it, I set an alarm within a minute. after I closed the phone, I put it on idle. then it started to restart itself and it won't stop!
I've taken the battery out many times to stop it but it still won't load properly!
can someone please help me?
Well, I think the only thing you may be able to do is to do a wipe. Turn on your phone by holding home and power. Release when the recovery screen comes up. Open the keyboard, press Alt + W
When that is done, you can press Home and Back to restart. This resets everything back to factory, you'll have to set everything back up. I think that your downloads will be saved the first time you load up Market, but they'll be gone after that, so try to install them all at one time (that's if they are saved).
hm, I tried but it won't let me past the HTC loading screen.
Urgent!
My HTC dream has the same problem, its keeps on restarting and doesn't let me get to the recovery screen. Can't downgrade using fast boot as well, as it from Singtel. It used to happen before but used to get ok once i'll take out the battery and boot it again but now it just keeps on restarting. Anybody with a solution?
Or can anybody tell me why its happening?
OK i have a Hero in my possession that was working fine until the battery went dead. After it went dead when the phone was powered back on it just boots to the white HTC screen it keeps cycling that screen untill you pull the battery. It will not boot into recovery. I have ran the RUU, it says its completed but the phone still does it. The phone does have charging light and will boot into fastboot. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to get this phone going again. Again it does not have recovery so no ADB. Thanks in advance for the replies!!!!
Hope everyone has a great day!!!
What I would do is charge the phone all the way, until the green light shows on the top left corner. Then run the ruu and see what that does.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
i have had it charge but not fully charged 100% i will try that also..but im sure it wont make a difference
Phone fully charged and ran the RUU same results. Oddly i found someone with the same issues here. other than JTAG i have no clue where to head now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761559
after you run the ruu can you boot into the clear data menu screen there, i forgot what its called. i think its home+power(held) on a stock rom. then you get the option to clear everything. or try volume down+power(held). i think one of those things might help you.
or take it to sprint and ***** until the satisfy you.
i have tried that...and i tried sprint..my water sticker on the very edge on the battery cover has started to turn red..not completely but enough so they wont do anything. the phone never touched water they say it could be from sweaty hands or extreme climate change which is bull****... it never touched water
Here is how I was able to save my phone:
While your powering on the phone, hold menu...which should, boot the phone into safe mode. From there, I would suggest you root your phone, so you can save yourself some trouble if this were to happen again.
If your phone doesn't go into safe mode that way, try this: hold
home, search and power button, and let it do a hard reset...immediatly after that, press menu to restart the device, and continue holding the menu button until you some progress, it should then boot into safe mode.
pm me, if you need any more help! i just finished getting out of this mess, so i understand your pain xD

i tried this but i just get a bootloop white htc screen
Please make sure you try multiple times,
http://www.google.com/search?q=hero...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
try those results for attempting to get into safe mode, from what I've learned from my experience, you should be able to get into safe mode, no matter how messed up your phone is or was, after you a do a hard reset.
It started as soon as I received a phone call from my brother and we were in the middle of a conversation when the phone suddenly goes off. I tried to restart it, I even removed the battery and replaced it but when I press the power button I get the initial boot sequence showing the htc logo and then the phone would just go of. I thought that maybe the battery is low but when I plug it to a power outlet it keeps trying to boot but keeps switching off and it just does this over and over.
Please I don't know if anyone has encountered this problem before, I really don't know what to do.

Try a Hard Reset using the device buttons:
1. With the phone off. If it’s frozen or unresponsive, pull then replace the battery.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons and power the phone back on.
3. Continue to hold Volume Up and Volume Down until a factory reset screen appears.
Hope this helps!

Well I just did that but the problem persist. I should note that occasionally it does complete its boot up and I can use the phone but it can go off at any time and once it does this, i cannot get it to completely boot up. Once it attempts a boot up and goes off I cannot even restart it by pressing the power button until I replace the battery or plug it into a power socket or the computer at which point it will just keep booting up and shutting down.
Something far wrong there. Get a replacement device.

Hi, I have got the same problem on my HD7 and I am completely noob to many new words Goldcard, jailbroken, etc. Would you please advise me exactly what you did (i mean flahing procedure) and really appriciate any help.
Well if you have got an O2 HD7, then I would advise you to get one of the O2 ROMS from ansar, download it then press and hold the volume down button when booting up your device, connect the phone to your pc and start the app. More instructions in the HD7 development thread.
There's nothing wrong the phone. Don't hard reset or flash it. It happens from time to time, just give it some time and eventually you will see a battery icon appear. Then after awhile it will boot up.
Again, do not flash or hard reset just be patient. I believe it just needs to drain all the way down as it doesn't have enough power to fully boot.
Not booting up
Hi,

Hi. To start with I bought a phone from a friend which I knew was faulty but decided to take my chances and try to fix it. He claims he did nothing to the phone but don't know for sure. Phone is in constant bootloop, Goes until splash screen and reboots. Worst yet to come - even bootloader menu restarts on constant basis when i try to get into it. Meaning it goes into bootloader but restarts in few seconds before i can get to factory reset. Computer is not picking up this device but i also don't have any drivers installed but don't even know how to install them with a phone in this state. Is there anything i can do about it? Been with Samsung for the past few years and here is everything completely different so don't know much about adb but am a quick learner and can follow any steps! I can provide picture of bootloader if it would be any helpful.

Send a picture of the bootloader while I find the drivers you need
Seems like battery is completely dead as it only reboots when there is power supply connected, but then it won't turn off (any charging light don't come on, not sure if it should though). Just now i've seen a vodafone logo for a very short second when I connected to pc from charger. But phone rebooted again just after.

edit. downloaded drivers (4.8) but that didn't change anything and windows still doesn't pick up device.
After connecting my one to computer for past 3 hours its started more frequently boot and showing Vodafone menu but still restarts shortly after. Vodafone logo shows on and lights on soft buttons starts flashing like 3 times and than it keeps rebooting. Does it mean anything?

That almost sounds like your POWER button is stuck!! Are you able to completely power off, and it stays off.
I think i know what it is. Power button stuck and keeps restarting device. Although i can feel pressing it, this is what it looks like.

Didn't see your comment but this is exactly how it looks to me. I can't switch off phone and in bootloader it acts like i was pressing power button. Although it operates normally meaning that it can be pressed down. Arranged warranty repair with HTC and they are collecting phone tomorrow.

Hey guys,
So I have had my One more than a year, never root, never install any mod in it, just simple, daily use. It worked well till last night when some weird thing happened:
- At first, the Back, Home and HTC buttons keep flashing along with the screen. When I unlock my screen pass lock and go to the home screen, it showed a notification like "To restart the phone, keep pushing the power button for (x) second" with x is the count down number. After that, the phone is automatically rebooting, then the problem happen again.
- After a few times, I manage to shut it down properly then turn the phone up. As I notice, as long as I doing something with the phone such as calling somebody or checking facebook or simply sliding the home screen, thing is normal. But as I stopped using it, that weird notification pop up again
- The phone keep restarting after that, again and again. Sometime it boot successful, but when Im go to the home screen, the notification shows up and my phone restarts again. As I couldnt turn off my phone, it is drained and out of battery.
- This morning, I put the cable in and try to charge it, and My One now stuck at the first HTC logo screen then restarting and then stuck again. That looping process is drive me crazy. As I try to pull out the cable, the phone is not working (Obviously) since it is out of battery.
- As I hold down Power and Volume down, I can enter bootloader screen. I saw a "locked" banner and cannot navigate through the menu and can not press Fastboot or anything. After 2-3 seconds, the phone is shut down and keep looping.
Long story shot, can anybody tell me how to fix this. As I have a lot of pictures that havent been backed up, I really appreciate if I can keep everything without doing a factory reset. Oddly enough, I cant even do a factory reset since the bootloader is not working.
Please help.
Have you tried a factory reset?
On boot, bottom down n power will take u to fastboot.
You can do a factory reset from there.
HTC sync can save your stuff.

As I mentioned above, I can hardly do anything from that fastboot screen. Up, down and power button is not working as I cannot navigate to recovery or factory reset. Even pushing power button wont do.
When I connect the phone to PC, nothing happen. It is because the phone is out of battery i suppose?
The problem is when I start to charge the phone, it will keep looping. But if I dont, the phone is death and I cant do anything.
I honestly dont know. I suspect you have
Fast boot selected under Settings>power.
You've got to try till you can get into fastboot otherwise send it for repairs.

Because this is exactly the message we usually get when holding the power button for more then 5 sec...
and that would explain the reboot issue
looks like the "power" key is always active
definitively sounds like an hardware issue imo
and your issue is even present in bootloader what confirm that this is an hardware defect.
