i heard once you upgrade you cannot go back but my bootloader is unlocked so i should be able to downgrade without problems.
but i wanna know if is true that phone may get bricked if i try downgrading.
Model: 1093 Us Cellular 5.0.2
Downgrading is not what bricks you. Trying to upgrade via OTA after a downgrade causes bricks. So if you downgrade, don't upgrade again by OTA or it might brick.

Hmm what about if if downgrade then later i upgrade to 5.0.2/5.1 manually and then an ota is release. Will i get brick if i try to update?
It depends on if gpt or motoboot change. If they change, yes you risk a brick. If no, then no problem.
However I can't read the future, we don't know if they will change or not until motorola releases new versions. So using OTA is your risk. Downgrading is not supported by motorola, in the release of new versions they say you can't downgrade. We ignore them, and do it anyway... if we brick it's our fault not motorola's.

Its better to stay on Lollipop than downgrading to kitkat.

I just got my new Moto X 2014 2 days ago. It came with KitKat installed on it. I remember that on the Moto X 2013 that downgrading caused a lot of bricks. Is this the case with the new 2014 Moto X? Also, has anybody downgraded, then taken the OTA again and it still works?
During the downgrade process would I need to flash all the parts? Or do I need to skip some?
Have you read this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/help/lollipop-to-kit-kat-t2986044
Yes I have but it didn't answer all my questions. For example if upgrading via ota will cause a brick? If it's necessary to flash all files or if they all can even be flashed.

I downgraded to kitkat and took the OTA to lollipop with no issues. When downgrading, you don't really have to skip any commands. If you try to flash an old bootloader (as was the case when I downgraded to kitkat after getting the newer bootloader from the OTA, well, I think it was a newer bootloader anyways), it will just fail to flash. No harm done, at least not on my XT1095). You can skip flashing the bootloader altogether, which is what I did the first time I downgraded to kitkat, and I had no issues.
Thank you, I took the plunge and installed lollipop. I was worried about downgrading since I was not sure if everything would work or not. So far so good.

I would like to know if the process is the same downgrading back to kitkat from lollipo 5.1???
...
Speculation
I would think not. My guess is that it will check to see if you are running 22.21.11 and if so you will get the update. If not, I do not believe it will offer you the update.
The OTA is specific for version A to version B. If you are not at version A, they won't deploy it.
The answer is no. You are not a beta tester for the soak. So id you install it, you will not get the update. You will have to downgrade back to 5.0. Then upgrade to the official 5.1 when it is released.

Unlock your bootloader and flash the factory image. Instructions can be found in several different threads here.
What's the question

And I would not take the 5.1 OTA after downgrading to 5.0 unless the instructions for the soak testers said to do that.
Someone hard bricked after flashing the 5.1 OTA, then downgrading to 4.4.4 then taking the 5.0 OTA. I realize the 5.1 OTA is not the 5.0 OTA but unless the Motorola instructions for the soak testers say to downgrade to 5.0 then take the 5.1 OTA, I would manually downgrade only system.img, boot.img. NON-HOLOS.bin, fsg.mbn and recovery.img to 5.0 then use Motorola Device Manager to upgrade to 5.1.
Has anyone tried downgrading? Does it work? If you downgrade then take the ota again, does it brick?
I am thinking about flashing the EU firmware then upgrading to kitkat, but want to be sure if I can downgrade since I would like to later install the firmware from Chile instead of EU.

The only thing that can get you into trouble is the gpt.bin. And maybe it doesn't even get u into trouble. The gpt.bin was the only one that got flashed in the update.zip that can break the phone afaik.
So downgrading to JB should be possible. But for the safety, remove the gpt.bin. If u can get the chili ota after it i don't know.
Off course this is at your own risk
Hi, I already have te brazilian 5.1 OTA installed on my xt1097 but in my country they released 5.1 few days ago. I wonder if I could have my country softwt but the only roblem is that I have to downgrade to 4.4.4 and the directly install the OTA to 5.1 because they jumped directly to 5.1 in Argentina.
I want to know if there is any risk of hardbrick if do this in the proper mode (I have the bootloader unlocked and I know how to downgrade but beacause it is to 4.4.4 I have the doubt o fwhat could happen if I do it).
I thin that this could be very usefull to other users that are in the same situation that me.
Thanks in advance!
Yea there is a risk of bricking. The downgrade to 4.4.4 then taking OTA's has caused many brazilian moto x to brick.

Even if the ota update is to 5.1 directrly?
I´m asking becasue i have understood that the problem was due to the vertsion of the bootloader.

The issue is due to the boot loader version. The OTA updater script sometimes fails to check for the boot loader status and flashes/bricks anyway. There is no guarantee if you downgrade to 4.4.4 and take 5.1 OTA that you will brick, but there is no guarantee that you will not either. Just take it through MDM and be safe. MDM will do the proper checks.

Just yesterday I had made a downgrade from 5.1 to 4.4.4 PE because WIFI issues.

But my point is if there would be any risk of brick when i update via ota directly to 5.1.

The brick is not when you downgrade. The brick happens when you downgrade then take an OTA. Don't take an OTA or you risk bricking it.

Oh sorry my mistake. Yes, most probably is its gonna semibrick if you take the ota

You are saying that if I do the downgrade succesfully and then I upgrade to 5.1 by MDM y will have 5.1 with no brick risk ?

Correct. Because MDM doesn't upgrade the phone like an OTA. MDM flashes the complete images.
