Wondering about raw images and the camera2 api - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok i have done a lot of research on this matter and am interested in what anyone may think about it.
Now Samsung hasn't enabled the camera 2 api for our phones I'm not sure why. But they have enabled it on S6 so i was wondering if there was anyway at all that it might be possible to use the S6 as a study guide to figure out how it has been enabled and work towards getting ours enabled.? I appreciate everyone's time and intellect. Thanks

[Q] Samsung S4 Camera apk ported to S4 Active (i9295)

Is it possible to port the original S4 Camera apk to S4 Active system (whether rooted or not). So that we at the Active will also have that DUAL SHOT, SLOWMOTION, FAST MOTION feature... i know Samsung totally take it from the ACTIVE, but is it really possible... its just that, although its not a 13mp and SAMOLED phone... but the water protection, cool HARD BUTTONs, well i really like it... but then again, you cant get both worlds. so if we can port it, at least we can have some GOOD also features to S4 active.
That's what XDA is for!
I'm not an experienced Android developer, but I do know that the Dual Shot, Slow/Fast Motion features are certainly possible to implement. It's purely software related.
This is just another way for Samsung to make the S4 Active seem like it is less capable, or else everyone would've got an S4 Active.
But that's what XDA is for, bringing out the best in our Android phones, by maximalizing the software!
+1 for Dual Shot and Slow/Fast Motion!
s4 active camera apk please upload
Hello, please could someone upload the camera apk for the i9295 as i deleted mine by mistake... Any help would be greatly appreaciated...

[Q] latest VoLTE update

Hello,
Can anyone confirm the latest system update that enables VoLTE for the Moto Droid Turbo does not have other patches in it that may prevent root or unlock exploits? I do not know how to find this information on my own. Thanks in advance!
I don't think anyone really knows since no exploits have been found yet to provide root access.
If we knew that we wouldn't have a 5 figure bounty lol
Ah OK makes sense. I was hoping someone may have been able to do some type of system dump before and after to see whether certain components have been modified that could point to there being more than VoLTE added. Since I know minimal in this specific field of penetration testing, and had not seen any posts about hesitation to update the system software, I wasn't sure if I was missing something everyone else knew.
Thanks for the input.

I think the only thing we can confirm is the bootloader changed from the update

Module That Gives In-Depth Privacy Customisation.

Hi all. Looking for a module that will give me some in-depth privacy customization. App-Ops doesn't give enough control and I can't install xPrivacy as I'm on Nougat.
Not sure if there is something similar to xPrivacy as a Magisk module.
Running Magisk 13, Android 7.0.
Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
I am also on the hunt.. Would a port be possible? I've seen other ports but systemless xprivacy may be a bit much to ask?
If it possible it will be one of the most important modules.
I think Xposed is died for newer Android OS than 6.0
If it's not otherwise possible without Xposed, it's not going to be possible with Magisk.
I see Xposed GitHub has an update last 8 months ago... Has anyone considered creating a bounty setup for a port to Nougat / O? This has worked quite well in the past for rooting difficult devices... Perhaps a community bounty for something bigger like xposed would receive a lot of donations and really get the ball moving!
Also I have heard that it is possible to install xposed on Nougat however the functionality is somewhat buggy / compromised... Any risky adventurous types want to test and report back?

Understanding volte issue for pie roms

Hello first time poster here, but my question is about the issue with voice over LTE in the pie ROMs. I know its been answered before with it being the IMS issue if I am correct but looking at the thread that gave the answer I guess I didn't see a post that elaborated a bit more on it. My question is what about it in the coding , is causing the issue? I'm nowhere near a software expert but I know enough to understand the verbiage and with that I'm asking the devs here what has been hard to crack that IMS issue? I'm only asking cause I really enjoy the pie ROMs all you devs have done a fantastic job keeping this phone alive but with me being a Verizon user I know I'm doomed eventually once they cut CDMA and I hate the 18:9 phones so its hard to want to upgrade . has anyone been close to finding a solution on this ? Either way thank you all for your time in keeping this phone alive .

IMS depends on proprietary apps and binaries. The last ones we have are from android 7 and don't work on Android 9 anymore as a lot of stuff has changed.
But somebody made some progress adapting the IMS.apk lately :https://github.com/eErenYeager/ims_apk
Thanks for your answer

Thank you for that answer. It makes a lot more sense to me and if it ended at 7 I can see how it survived to 8.1 with its similarities to nougat but I hope the progress is made with adapting that new IMS for legacy devices . I also own an lg v30 but I'm back on the shamu cause I really do hate the 18:9 how dare they say the v30 6 inch is a true 6 inch like a nexus lol, but their aosp ROMs had issues with volte as well so that's why I was curious cause at first I thought it was an issue of 32bit vs 64bit . again thank you for the response.

is any developer planning to port OneUI 3 or 4 for the Galaxy Note8?

i prefer one ui on this note device as a daily OS since it has S-pen features and LED View cover support. also the stock camera app just works better than anything else i have tried
The only oneui port we have is a broken ish rom right now since i have been experiencing alot of lag while charging and apps randomly crashing when in that laggy state but the camera app on that rom is missing features but the werdest thing is that the phone can apparently record at 4K 60FPS so thats nice i guess.
requirements for a port like this is ofcourse S-pen features, support for the LEW view case. the oneui camera app that can record at 4k 60fps whould be nice but is not a requirement at all
hopefully some one decides to do a port of oneui 3 or 4
If someone were to make a port of the newer OneUI versions, I'd say they might as well take the bit of extra effort and include the Galaxy S8, S9, Note9...
But I think the reality is, it's probably difficult and very time-consuming, because of drivers, but also in part due to OneUI itself.
Biggest hurdle are the drivers I'm sure. Likely requires lots of reverse engineering. Lots of time.
The few people that have the required skills may not want to waste their sanity and time for this, especially not without payback.
