Hello.
I bought xperia Z1 yesterday (I got it with around 22% of battery). Firstly when I got home phone was at 18% and for 1.5 it charged to 25%. I was confused with a message "21 hours remaining to get fully charged" and when I went into phone information, I saw that battery could last 3 days. Nevertheless, I went out clubbing with 25% and returned home with around 15%. I thought you need to format the battery (as I did with my previous phones) so I was using it until phone turned off completely. Phone was put to charge at 4 a.m. into a power socket using original charger which I've got with the phone and when I woke up at 11 a.m. it was not charged. It couldn't even get turned on. It displayed nothing but red light.
Then I pressed volume up + switch on/off button, it vibrated 3 times then I put it into computer to get a USB charge. Now after an hour, phone has charged up to only 6% of battery but I'm glad I can see something (meaning, it shows how much it is charged - I couldn't see anything after I woke up and disconnected it from a socket).
I searched the internet and couldn't find any solution. I see people charging their Z1's within 3 hours max and mine hasn't charged with 8 hours spent plugged in a socket. What also worries me is that it charges really slowly, a lot slower than it should be.
I'd be thankful if anyone can help me.

Are you charging it with the original cable and charger? Try another charger.
Yes, I'm charging with original adapter and original usb cable.
I solved the problem. Problem was the original usb cable. It's perfect looking but god knows what's happening inside, it could be a factory error - it's not supplementing enough current from adapter to phone.
I solved the problem by using original adapter and usb cable from my htc wildfire s. Now it's charging as it should, it'll be full within 2 hours or so (phone is turned on now and I'm making calls so it's under stress).

The other day I was in a hospital and my phone was next to the bed but the charger wire was tangled in the bed. So a nurse came up and rolled out the bed and the phone fell from quite high on the (hard) floor.
It still worked, screen wasn't cracked so I didn't think much of it.
But now, the phone can be charged with the charger. As soon as I unplug the charger there are 2 things that can happen:
1. The phone keeps saying it's charging. Other than that the phone is fully functional. Battery drain is much higher though, in 10 minutes I lose 7% battery.
2. The charging icon in the battery will flash on and off. When I switch off the screen, the lock-screen immediatly turns on and the text charging blinks, it's like someone is plugging in the charger and takes it out immediatly, battery drain is even higher when this occurs, I lose 50% within the hour, depending of what I'm doing.
Sometimes the problem is not there, the phone will function normally, but the problem will come back within 1 or 2 hours and usually when I plug in a charger and take it out later. Also, sometimes it seems the phone is not charging and the charge indicator will stay at a certain percentage but when I reboot the phone it it fully charged (according to the indicator).
First I thought it was an android problem. But when I switch off the phone the charging image appears as well and starts blinking, also the menu and back button flash on and off. It's also quite difficult to switch on the phone at this point and the battery image shows only the outline of the battery, not how much charge is in it.
So far I tried 2 other chargers, 2 other batteries (1 original Samsung and 1 after market). Rebooted the phone many times and left the battery out for an hour.
Anyone knows of what causes such a problem? Of course, the fall was the start of the problem. Could there be some pins bent in the usb socket of the phone?

I had a problem recently in which even though I kept my phone on charging (and it showed that it is charging), the battery percentage either remained same or it went down even though it was plugged in.. went to samsung and they said the usb port is damaged and they replaced it.. I think the same resolution will be for your problem
Mmm....makes sense. What does Samsung charge for that?

I was under the impression the charging capabilities of this phone were insane? My note 4 is charging very slow even with the phone off. Ive toggled the Fast Charge on and off (battery page in settings) and regardless of what i chose its very slow. I think my Note 3 charged faster than this. Is something wrong with my charger or my phone? Should i echange it for another?
Exchange it. With the included charger mine charges in about an hour.

The way fast charge works is with wall adapter and cable that came with phone and screen off. Another way is phone off. Takes a bit over an hour when phone dead
NOTE 4
Looks like I'll exhange it then, cause with the phone off, it took about an hour to go from 25% to 38%. Its strange cause my note 3 was usable while using GPS, and phone connected to car charger, not even a 2.1amp one and it would charge quickly. Note 4, actually went from 38% to 52% in about 3 and a half hours the same way
Mine is the opposite, charges fast and and drains fast. When I unplug it will go from 100% to 95% in 5 minutes with no use and screen off. I tried several battery app with no success to fix the problem.

Fast charge will only work screen off. If u using GPS then phone is awake and u get slow charge
Also make sure fast charge is clicked on.
NOTE 4
Did you take off the plastic stickers from the charger? Mine started fast charging after I did that. I think it was covering part of the connection somewhere.
I hope u connected to ac and not USB check battery in settings make sure it says charging ad and not charging usb
Yes mine says it is charging via AC. I havent removed the plastic from the charger, ill try it. The weird part is, last night i had 5 percent battery. At around 2:30 i turned off the phone and connected to the charger. I wake up around 9:30, a whole 7 hours later, and the phone only charged up to 89%. It takes 7 hours to not even charge full percent? Is that normal? Granted, if i turned off the phone or even had it on, my Note 3 charged within 2 hours or less even from dead. So i should just exhange the phone right?

Bad phone

I remember have selected an option so the battery wouldn't necessarily shut off at 0%. Now my phone shuts off at approximately 4%. Anyone remember where this option is?

I recently noticed this as well and would be interested if there's a way to fix this.
It has happened to me, too. Yesterday my phone shut down at 25% and 14%, but after turning it on again I could use it normally.
I'm, obviously, also interested if there's a solution for this.
Mine has done the same thing a couple of times. It's only ever happened once the battery is less than 10% but it's still annoying. I also had one random reboot today but that was the only time that this has happened.
I could swear I had selected an option for this...but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone recall having seen this??

I had some weirdness with this myself yesterday (my 2nd day on the phone).. I was literally laying in bed before going to sleep, marveling at my battery life after a day of heavy use (18 hours and 39% to go, SOT 3 hours) and it just shut off. I tried to turn it back on, but got the boot loader's big fat 0% screen. So I plugged into the turbo charger, and then it said 100% within a minute, I turned it back on, and then it was 85%.. Just decided to go to bed, left it plugged in all night. Took it off the charger this morning at 100%.. then over the next 2 hours it fell down to 55%. Figured the battery just needed to settle in for a couple of days. I've had it on a USB port for about 90 minutes now, and it's back to 100%. I'm going to take it off an constantly keep it between 80-100% all day. Hopefully it just needs to settle in and get some battery stats under it's belt? I've not seen this with many, or any phones before. Would suck to be out somewhere thinking I can make it to the next morning no problem, and then have my phone die 5 minutes later and I don't have a charger.
Has anyone found a solution for this issue?
i am with the same "4%" issue
It probably does that so it can already have a headstart for the turbo charging feature.
Have you guys tried re-calibrating the battery? I've experienced versions of what you describe, and here's how I fixed it on mine;
1 - plug into the turbo charger that came with it
2 - press and hold power button till unit shuts off, continue holding,
3 - continue holding till you see a battery icon on the screen, let go of the power button
4 - phone will vibrate, and a couple seconds later, the battery icon will show a % number, that is the correct level of charge in the battery, it is now re-calibrated!
5 - press and hold power button till phone starts to boot, you should be good..
From what I've read, this "out of sync" battery calibration is caused by using certain chargers other than the stock one. I saw it happen from plugging into a laptop usb3 port and an old blackberry wall wart (don't judge me). Other people have reported it from using wireless charging (I wireless charge every night without issue).
Hope this helps, good luck!
my htc one mini 2 warranty just ended 2 months ago. All of a sudden my phone started getting very hot and the battery drained out fast. i turned it off and rebooted it several times. it stopped getting hot but coudnt properly charge. i left it for charging overnight and in the morning it was charged to only 23%. later i kept plugging it here and there to keep it charged and it kept showing messages ,something like your phone is using too much power than the adapter can supply. The last time it was plugged into my laptop with the usb cable and it woudnt charge more than 1%. I unplugged the fone after a while it was dead and hasnt awaken since the last three days. ive tried everything i could find on the internet. pressing the power and vol up button, power and vol down button, power and both the volume buttons for more than 2 mins. Left it for charging overnight using the wall socket charger but it just doesnt boot no matter what and i really need to retrieve my data from it. Does any one have any advice, atleast something to recover the data from it?

1-are you using htc original cable?
2-is it really charging(check light when you leave the phone).
3- if is the battery, contact HTC, they usually fix for free when its hardware problems. even off warranty.

If HTC provides Sub-Pba (charging part) separate for this model then your are lucky, other wise its just Pba (main board) and you will lose your data, could be battery only, better try with HTC.
Too late charging means of the 5-6 pins in the USB port only 1 or 2 are accepting electricity.

My original charger broke a while ago so ive been using a motorola charger, i suppose thats what caused the issue
there are no lights no indication of my phone being alive...its just plain dead
I will try to take it to htc but they usually ask people to backup their data which i want to do badly

I have a Moto X 2013 that, after replacing the battery with a supposedly new, OEM battery, refuses to charge past 3%. This phone is rooted and was rom'd with the Nougat xPerience rom, but I tried flashing it with Nougat Lineage as a troubleshooting test.
I replaced the battery last night without incident, and the phone booted and seemed to behave fine, and the battery had about 30% charge. The only issue I found immediately after replacing the battery was a battery app installed on the phone saying the battery hasn't been charged for -19000 hours, or something a long those lines (I can't remember exactly what it said, as I did not install the app, my friend did who I was fixing the phone for. I just remember it was some outrageously large negative number.). Thought it was weird, and maybe thought it was a software issue, so I booted to TWRP and wiped the cache and dalvik. Rebooted the phone, and the app reset to something along the lines of 500 hours. That is a bit more believable.
I plugged the phone into my laptop to let it charge (as it was the only way I could charge it at the time), my laptop saw the Moto, and the Moto said "Charging..." and "Android Debugging...", and thought it was working. I had to run an errand, and when I returned about an hour later, the phone hadn't moved a drop up or down. My laptop was asleep, so I assumed maybe it just stopped charging when my laptop shut off, and I was exhausted myself so I just let it sit on standby all night.
Morning came, and the Moto is dead. I plug it into the wall charger I was just using to charge my v10 with (brand new cord, made for data transferring and charging that I used once before with the old battery), and head to class, hoping it'll charge. Guess what? It didn't charge. Well, it did a little. It went up from 0% to 3%, and sat there. Annoyed, I unplugged and replugged in the phone. It came up with the white battery charging screen, switched to the Nougat "N", vibrated, then went to a black battery charging thing. Once there, the battery icon went up two squares, the screen flashed, and the phone died and stopped charging, then repeated itself a few more times until it went silent.
I started to think maybe my brand new cord was screwing up, so I grabbed another one I had and plugged it into my desktop. I had read on another thread that sometimes you can force the phone to jumpstart charging by plugging in the phone and holding down power + volume down for upwards of two minutes. I tried this, and it charged enough that I could turn the phone on again, but it wouldn't charge enough to do much more. I left it plugged into my desktop for a few hours, not allowing the desktop to fall asleep, and yet the phone was still not rising above 3 or 4% despite the fact that it says that it is charging. Oh, and the phone was on the whole time if it was plugged in, but the moment I unplugged it (Like the one time it got over 5%), it immediately shuts down.
I know I'll probably just have to buy another new battery for the dumb thing, but I am just curious to see if there is anything I can do to fix this, just because I cannot currently afford to buy another new battery (and my friend, who this phone belongs to, is getting impatient on getting it back.)
Thanks for any help!
I have the same problem, charging topping out at 3% with a "new" battery.
Did you change the battery? Did it work?
Thanks for your feedback.
(FYI, this phone is running the stock lollipop firmware.)
