OK, so I'm VERY new to posting here, and idk where to post this, but I've recently restored my device to stock 4.3, then updated it (4.4.3). Now im trying to root it with towelroot, but it says my device isn't supported. And I even tried the 3 codes you put into the app, and it still said my devise was unsupported. PLEASE HELP! Thank you

What firmware are you on (we need the alphanumeric code) NC9, NE3 or NH3? There is no such thing as 4.4.3 for the i537.
Once you determine what firmware you are on, go to the following thread and follow the link to root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2629093

My S4A is running rooted NH3.
You have to reflash the inital KitKat (NE3) firmware, but minus the bootloader, using your existing NH3 bootloader, then re-root with towelroot. You can then reflash NH3 AP, CP, CSC. Thanks to @Devo7v files and instructions are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-active/general/guide-update-to-i537-att-firmware-t2835481
Thanks again Devo7v. :good:

@Lane5SOS, do what @Devo7v suggested and read through the link he gave you. You will find: "Root method: In order to root NH3 you must first flash the NE3 kernel through Odin because it still has the root vulnerability. Then root using towelroot.com. Once you have rooted, flash the NH3 kernel through Odin. Discussion and further instructions about this method can be ...................."

I also created a quick thread on how to root any i537 firmware for future reference.

Hadn't known till now of your quick thread, [GUIDE][HOW-TO] Root Any i537 AT&T Firmware, which you created 2/1/2015 here. Excellent helpful wrap up to those seeking info on rooting their AT&T SGH-i537 Samsung Galaxy S4 Active.
Also similar is Sunderwear's thread, Galaxy S4 Active 4.4.2 Kitkat ROOT, here. Like you, Devo7v, @Sunderwear has always been very helpful in the past.
Again, Devo7v, you have my respect, my trust in your reliable XDA posts, and many, many thanks!:highfive:

They are usually incremental, but I am not 100% on this. I would recommend updating manually with Odin or smart switch just to be safe.
Sent from my SM-G925V using XDA Free mobile app
Anyone have a link to the oe2 tar?

Can confirm also. Replacement device was on OC3 updated to OE2 then wanted to go to OF1 but i rooted before that one
AT&T pushed OF3 to my phone without my consent. I hadn't rooted it yet. Is there any way to root the device or should I put it up on eBay?
Nothing yet I'm afraid. And as far as I know, it's not possible to ODIN back to the previous version once on OF3
Yeah I can confirm downgrade is not possible. Although I think downgrading Kernels and then using Pingpong will gain root. Not 100% sure
this happened to me too

I NEED THAT! I cant find flashhable kernels anywhere for of3 or ng2. I got a phone on OF3 n cant do anything.
I'm getting S6 tonight. Should I update to lastest firmware? Do I just Odin a recovery and flash a rom? Any concerns? Thanks!
Don't update right away. If you OH6 or older you want to keep it there. So you can root with out tripping Knox.

Thanks.. The info I wanted!
I just managed to update to PA2 from OI5, and there is a root method available.
I have two questions:
Can I root my S5(AT&T) without tripping KNOX?
If I do root, can I update to the latest Marshmallow via Odin and keep root?
Can I "debrand" my S5 by flashing a stock S5 firmware via Odin (remove AT&T bloatware and bootlogo)? {http://www.naldotech.com/remove-carrier-branding-galaxy-s5-debranded-firmware/ this link says you can but does not provide a download link}
Thanks.

You can root on OI5 (which means you would have to downgrade). As of now we can't get root on MM in ANY WAY. But, the root for LP doesn't trip Knox.
Refer to my guide in the General section for rooting instructions.
You can't flash a ROM like that with ODIN due to the locked bootloader. You would have to flash using FlashFire.
