Mobile Radio Activy Draining Battery - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Hi all,
I know it's a known issue on Android. But my question is another.
I've a Moto Maxx from Brasil with locked bootloader. Is there anyway for me to maybe downgrade and afterwars upgrade again ?
I don't know if this can help with my problem, but maybe worth the risk. My battery is not lasting one day with normal use.

There's a way, but you need to unlock the bootloader.
You'll be re-flashing all of Kitkat EXCEPT for gpt.bin. (That part cannot be downgraded.) You will then have KitKat back. You can also then upgrade back to Lollipop.
But if you mess up the flash, you can brick your phone if the bootloader is not unlocked.
IF your bootloader is UNLOCKED, then you just go back into recovery and re-flash again. Everything can be fixed if your bootloader is unlocked. If you try flashing with a locked bootloader, it's much harder to fix mistakes, if they can be fixed at all.
Go here and read. Be sure to thank @Jaocagomez for writing the tutorial...

[Q] DOWNGRADE 4.4.4 FOR 4.4.3 or 4.4.2. Is it possivel?

I updated my Motorbike X XT1058 for 4.4.4 (KXA21.12 VZW_XT1060_4.4.4-KXA21.12-L1.26_1FF) and it wanted to do the DOWNGRADE for 4.4.3 or 4.4.2. Some way for that?
The GPT.BIN in 4.4.4 is different from 4.4.3, which is different from 4.4.2, which is different from 4.4.0's.
Motoboot.img is different between 4.4.3 and 4.4.2. 4.4.2's is different from 4.4.0.
These will prevent a complete, successful and safe downgrade of the rom version.
If you've seen all the "don't downgrade or you'll brick" warnings, this is what its talking about.
This ^^^
But a better question is WHY would you want to downgrade?
I did not like because of the modification Verizon

Well, you really can't downgrade without great risk.
So better to live with it, or try the Chinese seller and unlock your bootloader for a fee. Then you can root, and change things that you can't change without root. Here is a long thread about the unlock code seller...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751177
Otherwise, there isn't much you can do.

Actually you can do something that is risk because everything is a risk you can take and you never know what can happen but here it is: you can flash the 4.4.3 or 4.4.2 or 4.4.0 update over the 4.4.4 by using minimal adb flash tool and then just flash the 4.4.2 or desired version over but DO NOT FLASH THE gpt.bin!!!!!!!!That will screw up everything so after you flash everything but the gpt.bin you should do a cmd to reboot then you will be on the downgraded version!!! I'm not responsible for any bricked phones OK I tried this and the it worked for me so yea its a working procedure that YeS is a risky task so be careful!!!!

First this is an old thread...
Next, skipping gpt.bin and/or motoboot.img(or its components) HAS been a cause for bricks, and when it didn't brick, it caused extra bugs (like trying to go App Drawer -> Settings -> Security kicks you back to settings menu... and some having issues toggling wifi on/off... and some who tried skipping gpt/motoboot when applying the 5.1 update also had speaker phone issues).
For more, see the link in my signature on downgrading..

My mistake you need to flash the 4.4.4 gpt.bin over the 4.4.2 gpt.bin so the device thinks your flashing a 4.4.4 firmware but in reality your flashing the 4.4.2 firmware..I think its easier to use RSD lite to flash the firmware but you need to do a couple of modifications to the 4.4.2 firmware. All you got to do is move the 4.4.4 gpt.bin to the 4.4.2 firmware then flash it if you get the moto.bin error just do the same step as said above with the gpt.bin but with the moto.bin file..Hopefully it worked out for you ?

Not sure why you are quoting me saying "hopefully it worked out..." as I'm not the one trying to downgrade.
I can assure you... mixing GPT.BIN/Motoboot.img parts from one Stock rom, with the GPT.BIN/Motoboot.img of another STOCK rom is not a good idea.. it has been cause for bricks and/or features not working correctly.
To suggest otherwise, without acknowledging the risks, is irresponsible, especially if you take some time to search the forums and see all the posts of people who have either soft or hard bricked their device while trying various processes to downgrade. And especially if you are someone willing to help those who have bricked following your advice.
I did try but no succes

But you should know Sunshine developers charge a fee of 25 bucks to unlock and it works but you need to have a pay pal account and enough money for it

its documented in the sunshine thread that once 4.4.4 is on your phone its too late. even if you manage to downgrade it without bricking, the parts sunshine relies on will already have been patched and cant be downgraded. so downgrading wont help you to get sunshine to work

Yep, you are stuck until the full 4.4.4 SBF is released for your carrier. Shouldn't have done that.
Who is your carrier? If it is AT&T, you are in luck! The 4.4.4 SBF was just released. If not....bummer - you will have to wait. Can't flash a ROM with a different CID with a locked BL.
I highly suggest you don't attempt to manually force the older rom. Really, beyond the fact that you flashed the wrong ROM, how did you miss all the warnings that downgrade = brick?
Tough situation to be in. Hopefully you have an AT&T unit. If so, we can help get you fixed up.
Well, I have solved it Unlocking my Bootloader and then reinstalling the rom 4.4.4 retail from Brazil. It works now.
I have a question, now I am in Brazil but I am from Perú, and when I try to change the APN for the one I use in Perú, it deletes itself, so I can not change the APN or create a new one because i can not save it. What is the problem in there?
My phone was Nextel operator, then I unlock it, never had a problem.
Hope your help.
Thanks!

[Q] Anyone downgraded from 5.0.2. to 4.4.4

Hello, I have upgraded to 5.0.2. via OTA a few days ago. My phone was RetEU .23, and the update notification that 5.0.2. became so annoying, so I decided to give it a shot. Lollipop is a disappointment for me, battery drain issues, lagging all over the menus, slow dialer, the phone was running better with KK installed, so I want to return back to 4.4.4.
Unfortunately there is no clear opinion whether this could be done, some say that when you have 5.0.2. bootloader installed with the OTA, you cannot go back, others say that it is no problem to do so. Really confusing.
Anyone tried to go back to 4.4.4. after getting the OTA? Could you please share how did you do so? Unlocking the bootloader and flashing one of the 4.4.4 stock ROMs from the General Section?

Hello,
i actually switched from 5.0.2 back to KK 4.4.4 from Pizza_dox
when your bootloader is unlocked and you have TWRP installed
follow these instructions
1, go do a factory reset
2, go to advanced wipe and select :dalvik cache/system/data/internal storage/cache
when you did that there is no system on your phone so when you restart you will be going into an endless bootloop.
3, go press install and select the Microkat.zip file from Pizza_Dox
when that is done you have agian kitkat on your device
i think there some other methods but this is how i did it succesfully.
Also dont forget to make a backup because you will lose everything.

Thanks for your comment. I actually plan to go back to the stock 4.4.4. I have a basic idea of bootloader and things but not deep into this and have never done it before. From what I have read , I will have to:
1. First I need to unlock the bootloader, as per the instructions in the Moto website.
2. Then I will need to do a factory reset. (settings-secuirity-factory reset or some other way of doing this?)
3. Download 4.4.4 firmware + script.
4. Start up with Power+VolDown buttons and have bootloader menu on screen
5. Run the downloaded script from its .bat file.
6. Wait for some time for the flashing to end, then have stock 4.4.4
Please correct me if something is wrong or missed.

What i did...
Download the correct kk stock rom
Setup my drivers and mfastboot correctly (simple fast boot works too)
Unlocked bootloader. (Voids warranty coz gives bootloader status 3)
Reboot in bootloader now...
Flash all files of kitkat except gpt.bin and motoboot.bin (they never flash for me lol )
Flash all other files (i typed filenames manually)
Fastboot reboot
Ps - no matter what i do..i have not been able to lock my bootloader once i downgraded from 5.0.2 to 4.4.4
Locking bootloader works well on 5.0.2

simply use the 4.4.4 link in my signature and pick firmware 2 or B called DSDSALL to go back to 4.4.4 .23 ret(xx)
So, it has been confirmed by several forums that when you have officially received the 5.0.2 OTA download update, you cannot go back to KK.
It has something to do with the new L bootloader. I guess that there is no way of doing this, up to now at least. Don't know if someone has tried and succeeded.
When you have flashed the 5.0.2. OTA however, you can have KK installed back, as most of the users on xda.

[Q]Going from Safestrap/Kryptonite 4.4.2 rom to CM12?

I got my MotoX about a year ago, non-dev edition on VZW. I installed Hashcode's SafeStrap custom recovery and flashed Kryptonite's "stock" 4.4.2 rom to the stock slot. That satisfied me for the time being and I lost track of current development on the Moto X.
I've been itching for a change though and a software update is just the fix. Since I haven't kept up thoug, I really don't know how to go about it. I've been reading about the options but I don't know where my phone stands. Can I go the CM11-> CM12 route with Safestrap even though my bootloader is locked? Or do I need to use SunShine to unlock my bootloader and install a different custom recovery? And do I need to revert to stock to stock at any point? I'm pretty comfortable with all of this, I just need some nudging in the right direction.

If you NEVER took the 4.4.4 OTA you might want to consider unlocking your bootloader via "Sunshine" Then you can flash CM or anything you want with a real recovery and not safestrap. Just know that unlocking your bootloaer on a reatail device will void your warranty.

Right, my phone has never seen 4.4.4. So I'm going to go ahead and use Sunshine to unlock my boot loader as the first step. The warranty I'm not too concerned about.
I guess the next question is how do I go about replacing safestrap with TWRP? Is it the same as installing TWRP from stock?

You should be familiar with flashing a custom recovery via adb if you have used TWRP on other devices. Once you have the bootloader unlocked you would need the correct recovery image of TWRP for the Moto X and then in bootloader mode use the command "fastboot flash recovery 'recovery.img'" where 'recovery.img' is the exact name of the file. If it flashed and it works properly then you could flash CM12 and Safestrap should be gone if you followed the flashing directions exactly. Don't forget to make a Nandroid of your current setup before you begin! Factory Resetting the device would be crucial if jumping from one ROM to another so it kind of takes care of itself.

[Q] Which bootloader is required for a custom rom of 5.1 or 5.0

i have a XT1058 MOTO X 2013 Bootloader unlocked with latest TWRP recovery+root on Stock 4.2.2 rom I havent upgraded from 4.2.2 So I am on the 30.B4 bootloder. Now my question is will I be able to flash any rom on this bootloader? like im going to flash 5.0 and maybe 5.1cm nightly.. Now I want to know if i have to upgrade my BL to 30.B7? or the 4.2.2 30.B4 will work fine? I cannot proceed without getting complete information about the booloaders. Also I will flash CM11 before flashing the CM12. Please help. Please tell me which bootloader supports most custom roms and also let me know if i update my phone to 4.4 will my bootloader get locked? i cant risk getting locked again. I HAVE TO KEEP MY BOOTLOADER unlocked any how. Please tell me what should i do in detail... Thanks in advance.
BUMP
*****Edit****** Got the answer to my question the most common bootloader that is required by the custom roms is the stock 4.4.4's bootloader.. So first flash KK 4.4.4 FIRMWARE if you want to flash various custom roms....
sorry dude, sometimes it gets dead in here ,just gotta accept the fact.
How did you unlock your BL? via moto website? BL is permanently unlocked if so. And once BL unlocked, you can flash whatever custom rom you want man.
Go ahead and jump to 4.4.4 and check it out, 5.1 is here so might as well.

You are absolutely right... but now someone told me that i dont really need to care about the bootloaders... Because the Custom Rom probably flashes the required bootloader during the flashing process.. So im going to flash Cm11 on my 4.2.2 bootloader and then Aicp 5.1.x and I'll let everyone know how it goes... thanks man
and my BL is permanently unlocked man. Thanks for your help :good:
good job man:good:
