Camera Doesn't Open on Lock Screen - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
For some reason, the camera app does not open on the lock screen anymore. Instead, it now prompts me to enter my password, after which it opens the app. How do I fix this problem?
Thank you!

The solution is remove your password. Then it will open the app directly.
This behavior is normal it SHOULD ask for a password before opening the camera app because if not anyone could look at my photos and use the phone.

Hi,
Thanks for the info!
Is there a reason why other android devices (ex. Nexus 5) allow access to the camera from the lock screen without having you enter the password? I remember that you could have access to the camera, even if you had enabled some kind of security lock.
Thank you so much!

Incorrect. Even with password the camera app should open with the twist/slide option but when you slide to open gallery then the password is asked, that's how is working.

How do I remove password protection when I want to start the camera from the lock screen?

stock browser and XDA forums

Hi,
When browsing these forums from the stock browser I noticed the following issue:
- unable to log in. You can enter the username and password, but pressing the login in button has no effect
- Page button sometimes work and sometimes does not.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
Download the xda app from the marketplace. Much better xda experience

I actually have an issue that whenever I use the XDA app it forces me to re-login. Have the same app on my Droid X and don't have this problem. Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing ? I didn't see anything obvious.
I have same issue with Tapatalk Pro...have to enter a password each login. Erased data with Titanium Backup to no avail. Wish that worked.
Same here. Asks for password every time on NC. On my EVO it works properly.

well, I'm having these issues, too. Who are the 'powers-that-be' that could be notified to see if we could get it resolved?

theres an app out there than can do it, But for the life of me i cannot think what its called, Untill someone else sheds some light on this there always this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800799
It requires adb and that usb debugging is enabled on the phone ?
a factory reset will also remove pattern lock, But lets not go down that route just yet. Ill keep scanning for the app and let you know :good:
EDIT: The app (ironically) is called Screen Lock Bypass https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.thomascannon.screenlockbypass.fix
I guess there is an other option of unlocking with your backup pin

Google Authenicator help

I dropped my phone and cracked my phone's screen, the screen does not turn on. I can't get access to my google authenticator app to get my 2 factor codes for several websites. I don't have a recovery code. The phone powers on and it working otherwise. I tried to use [email protected] but I think the issue is I never enabled USB debugging. Any ideas? Thanks
Can't you use text as an option. When google asks you for the code just click on problems with your code and choose the option for sending the code as text.

i'm using the authenticator for other webapps so they don't have that option unfortunately.
You can goto your profile on a PC and generate codes for that purpose. They are one time use codes.

About Google's 2-factor authentication.

I use Google's 2-factor authentication, and whenever I want to setup any Google related account on the phone, it prompts that it needs to open the in-browser to input the 6 digit code. However after inputting the code, the in-browser doesn't close automatically and it displays the Google secure configuration site. If I attempt to manually close the in-browser, the authentication process starts all over again.
Any solution to this, aside from disabling the 2-factor authentication?

This is Google's, not our rom.
Generate a app specific password, and use that.
