I am going to be selling my Hero to someone who would like it rooted (as it is now).
His plan is to use it in WiFi mode only and won't be activating it with Sprint.
Is there a way to clear all my private data (logins, bookmarks, contacts, calendars, etc.) without unrooting?
Will he then be able to enter his google account info and gain access to the Market though WiFi?
Thanks!
Eph
The "Factory Reset" feature does the trick. But if you are really paranoid, you could wipe data, cache, dalvik and resintall the ROM from recovery.
Won't factory reset unroot me?
Will he still be able to access the net and the market via WiFi?
What ROM are you running?

Factory reset should bring the phone back to the state it was in when you first installed the rom. If you really want to be safe, boot into recovery, wipe everything and reflash the rom. You will still be rooted. Remember to either remove and keep your sd card or to format it to erase the data on it, THEN create a nandroid for whoever is buying the phone. Yes, they will be able to run the google setup via wifi if they choose to do so.
Weird.
After I do a factory reset (either from settings or from recovery), it stays in a boot loop. I have to pull the battery and restore the Nand.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Eph
Tried many different factory resets last night.
Tried from recovery mode and from settings>privacy.
In each case, I got stuck in boot loops.
Also tried to wipe data, cache, dalvik and resintall the ROM from recovery. Same thing - boot loop.
All I could do was pull the battery and do a nand restore.
Any ideas?
go here and download the ruu. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=800586 . follow the instructions. this WILL take away root and will flash you black to stock. then, go here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-743289.html and follow those instructions to re-root your phone. it is very easy. then flash your rom of choice again. that will erase your data AND get rid of your bootloop. idk why the othere way isnt working for u though
OR, you should try to take out your sdcard or format it before you reflash the nfinite's stock. i had this problem once because some of my data was on the card and so when it tried to boot it got stuck.
Thanks guys. I tried the factory reset a couple more times, and for some reason it booted.
Thanks again!
Guys I for a sec thought my phone was haunted!!
Steps I followed-
Was on Simplicity(tried from SURFACE too) Rom, did not wipe anything.. just went to download mode from Power menu Options.
Download JVZ base from SamMobile.
Flash via Odin.(YES, repartition was ticked)
Wait for it to reboot.
Then I see 4-5 things giving force close, and the worst part was that all the previous apps including Superuser were still there all forceclosing.. !!!
The same happened all times (4)...
Did anybody face the same problem? Is there a solution or something?
After flashing a new ROM (no matter what ROM) you have to do a Factory Reset and install your Apps from scrach. This is the best solution.
But you try first with few hope to delete Cache and Davlik from CWM Recovery Menu. If it wont work, try factory reset. Back-up your files becouse it will delete them all.

Agree with this, if not you might find alot of your apps will keep force closing
Guys did u understand the situation first of all? What are u telling?
I am telling here that Odin wipes every partition and all apps are removed if u flash a ROM through ODIN but when I flashed JVZ through Odin, it actually didn't wipe anything surprisingly!!
Apps were still there and fc-ing..

Man, calm down a bit, will you?
I've flashed Odin ROMs many times, and I can tell you that not every time you flash (even with repartition enabled) your phone will be completely wiped.
But then, as stated before, you should do a factory reset. Is it so difficult to go to settings>backup and restore>reset factory data? I don't think so.
Bye!
To improve battery life i used Battery Super Charger and put my Galaxy s5830 in very deep sleep. The problem now is the mobile don't want awake.
I removed battery and reboot with buttons and nothing happened.
My S5830 is rooted and running GB 2.3.6. Someone can help me? How can I solve this problem?
Best regards

Reboot into CWM and try to wipe data, you'll lost all your app's data, but it isn't a problem if you have a backup, so restore after that
How disable very deep sleep.Help!

ok, wipe data, wipe cache and wipe dalvik-cache (advanced options) and reboot, if it doesn't work perhaps you need to use Odin to flash a clear stock, or other method as flash a custom rom but first of all try to make the 3 Wipes

Ok, I tried those 3 wipes and doesn't work. I flashed another stock and everything looks ok, for the moment.
Tks for your help.
Phone is a rooted SGH-T679
I removed a bunch of programs after which I couldn't get back to home screen, only contacts.
Rebooted phone but couldn't get past Samsung splash
Got into Safe Mode, but the Factory Settings option is gone.
I'm thinking that if I can determine why that option is no longer available, it might help me figure out what to do next.
If I have to flash ROM, fine, but I wanted to investigate this question first.

Hi,
Here's what I did so far:
Some time ago I've installed CWM and Cyanogen 11 on my GT-I9295 Int'l.
A few days ago I flashed I9295XXUCNI1_I9295OXXCNI1_ROM (stock 4.4.2 for Romania) via Odin. All went well with the exception that Wifi can't be enabled anymore.Instead I get a security notification in the notif. drawer saying that a the action was prevented.
I flashed 9295XXUBMK3_I9295OXXBMK3_ROM.zip(stock 4.2.2 for Romania) . Issue still persists, unable to enable WiFi but there's no security notification anymore
Update:
I've also tried:
Phone factory reset
CWM factory reset
CWM clear cache
Flash stock 4.4.2
WIFI still can't be enabled, security warning shown.
Phone factory reset
CWM factory reset
CWM clear cache
Flash stock 4.2.2
WIFI still can't be enabled
With stock 4.4.2
Flashed CF-Auto-Root-jactivelte-jactiveltexx-gti9295.tar.md5
Disabled Knox - At this point I checked if WIFI can be enabled,it could not.
Installed TriangleAway and reset counter and status
Phone factory reset
Flashed stock 4.4.2
Result: Still can't enable WIFI
BASEBAND:I9295XXUCNE5
Any thoughts on what I might do next or where does this problem comes from ?
Hopefully you'll point me in the right direction on how to get back to a fully functional stock 4.4.2.
Thanks

You could do a factory data reset from settings within the phone and reflash the firmware (remember to backup your internal sdcard before doing this as it will erase your internal storage). This is known to reset the phone and resolve any firmware / modem related issues.

I did factory reset it and cleared the cache from CWM. Is the factory data reset from the phone any different ?

Yes, factory reset from within phone is different. CWM only wipes data and cache partitions while from within the phone it resets all partitions and firmware therefore it even wipes your internal storage. You could reflash the firmware after doing a factory reset and check.

Recommend that you flash only any one entire firmware. (Once you flash entire firmware you will have stock recovery and not CWM)
Power off phone and go to download mode with power + volume down button
Flash firmware 4.4.2 through odin
Boot normally
Reboot.. & do a phone factory reset
Power off phone and go to download mode with power + volume down button
Flash firmware 4.4.2 again through odin
Reboot
Now you should have working wifi. If this does not work then maybe a hardware issue

Oh,I feel so silly .
I just realized that I was using stock Roms with the wrong baseband. I had UCNE5 due to a previous install of the first 4.4.2 stock (PHN) back in may. Now was trying to install UCNE1 which is the stock rom for Romania region.
Problem solved, just flashed the proper stock 4.4.2 (...UCNE5) and everything works just fine.
Thanks a lot for all your help.

2x flashing stock TW ROM to repair?
Never seen that before as a solution.
Hard to follow when NE1 was flashed. You started in OP with NI1.
I bet you had a mismatch between bootloader and LTE-modem. The file name of LTE modem is NON-HLOS.bin and must be flashed using Odin or Heimdall.
The i9295 is responding like the i9505 when you mess with LTE modem - WiFi or sound will fail. The i9295 community is small and has no dedicated modem thread but head over to the i9505 community and gain knowledge. Start reading my post and continue with the referenced post by a acknowledged contributor:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57200308
And please don't try to flash any of the i9505 modem or bootloaders from that thread on your i9295 - learn the boundaries, download from trusted source, and Always Power OFF before Download Mode (never use lazy reboot) .
