K you kind folks.... if you had the opportunity to trade you Nexus One for HTC Desire?
would you? Or would you not do it? Please add reason.
I know they're practically the same phone but I'm caught in a dilemma here.
I'd stick with the Nexus.
With the Desire, I'd just install a non-Sense ROM anyway
Hmm..how about there's a higher chance the Nexus one will receive updates before the Desire (Gingerbread?) See how early it had froyo
Where I am from, the telco's are bundling line plans/contracts with Desires, making it affordable and common place. But there is nobody selling Nexus ones here. Now that Google has taken it off its store, this phone has just became even more rare. Love the unique feel about that
These 4 young ladies suggest you hang on to your Nexus
Nexus One + ROM with Desire theme = sexy UI, sexier phone, minus SenseUI crap.

Any suggestion on which one is the best one out right now?
And for all of you who responded... thanks. Now just to add a twist to it...
What if you had 2 Nexus Ones... would you still trade one of them? I'm really leaning towards no right now since the announcement that there aren't any more Nexus Ones.

No. Why would you?
Why do you have two?
I was in the same boat as you last week. I went with the Nexus. The support for it is amazing and I prefer vanilla over Sense (I wasn't before I bought the nexus). I already has Froyo before any other Android device....Correction, WAAAAAAY before any other Android.... The phone is amazing and I love every aspect of it. Hopefully, I will have influenced your decision

If I had two, sure, I'd probably trade just to diversify. But I wouldn't want to replace my primary at this point.
I agree with above. I wouldn't want two of the same devices.... Even though I do love my Nexus . What's the point of having two of the same device when you can have two different ones, with different designs and slightly different features.
Believe it or not the 2 that I have in my possession are Nexus # 4, and #5. I sold my 1st 3 and after the 3rd one, I couldn't last a day without the Nex. So I bought 2 and 1 as backup. (Wife using it in the meantime until she gets her iPhone 4...) I told her it's grounds for divorce for her to own an iPhone 4 =)
The diversity thing makes sense and was the main reason for a trade, but since the Google Announcement, it made it harder to let it go even if I had 1 already. That and that they are practically the same phone too.
Thanks for everyone's input... I'm not gonna do the Desire trade anymore, I'm working on trading it for a Galaxy S if anything. For Diversity sake, I just hope I don't lose my Nexus One somehow.
i'd keep the nexus because the desire has more of a plastic back battery cover and isnt quite as good build quality as the nexus. but the desire is still awesome, i'd just give the edge to nexus.

sexy nexie/desie? yep mate your a proper ******. unless your 12 that is
I'd keep the Nexus, for its triband 3G radio. I'm in Europe and I want to be able to cross the Atlantic and have working 3G and just pop a SIM card in. That's one of the reasons why I had a N900 before, I like to know I have the possibility to make it work both in the US and in Europe. The T-Mobile version, that is.
Keep both Nexi. You wont really be getting diversity in my opinion. You will be getting a few more hard buttons and an optical pad instead of a trackball, and you will lose out on the N1 support. Be strong and hold out till an new phone is released that you don't think twice about switching to. It is not a bad decision to go with the trade, does the Desire sell as easily as the N1?
Good news to all Motorola Androids! Nexus 3 is gonna come from Motorola, no more locked bootloaders, bricked phones, and tedious workarounds.
Smooth-sailing from here on end..

That may be all well and true but remember how Google stated that there wouldn't be a successor to the Nexus One (my beloved)? Well, they kinda went rogue on that promise and came up with the Nexus S (my girlfriend's beloved) out of nowhere.
So.. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Never really like any of Moto's Android phones - but now that Google's in charge.. I wonder what the manufacturer of the first ever consumer mobile phone (DynaTek? Startec?) can come up with next year

Basically it just looks like Motorola MAY make the Nexus 3, but it isn't the exclusive manufacturer. But if you think of it, there aren't many big cell phone manufacturers left who haven't already made a Nexus device, so it might only be a matter of time before Motorola makes a Nexus phone.
Motorola has been stated to be the next manufacturer way before Google put a bid in so it could still see a Motorola Nexus this year.
Hi!
I'm currently waiting for my SGSII to come back from Samsung, it got bricked almost two months ago...
Now, I have the chance to recover it's price (290 eur) or wait until I get it back
If only nexus 4 were available somehow, I'd get the money and buy the 16Gb model ..... I need some opinion.... what would you people do?
Thanks!!

If you can get your hands on it, buy nexus 4.
If size is not an issue, buy note 2.
If you don't mind waiting, buy s4
For the price, I was thinking about waiting around for nexus 4 8Gb version: I don't want to spend more money... but.... will I have to wait 2 more months? 3 perhaps? That's what's making me doubt: If I knew I would be able to buy it next week, I would wait.. but 2 months... it's something I would have to think about....

I got the S3. I don't know why everbody says it's not a big upgrade. It is IMHO a significant upgrade to the S2. Prices are much more affordable to the note2 and easier to get them the N4.

The price is too much.... I want a device with good specifications but what I mind most is that it should be fully open so the devs can release updates until the hardware gives up.... not until they find a difficulty like an undocumented chipset, having to stay weeks without sound, missing functions... etc etc....

While the nexus 4 is awesome and aosp is awesome, you will not find the custom ROMs to have much variation. On my sensation we had sense and aosp, but on the nexus we have aosp and we might get miui whenever that comes out with 4.2, but that's about it. If you love aosp, go with the nexus. Otherwise get your device with your bloat of choice.

Yes, we know... but there is a slight problem with the stock.... as you know....
If there were no problem with it, many more people would already have it...
The good thing is that people is starting to get a bit smarter:
-They are starting to reject the enslaving carrier contracts offering way overpriced phones in exchange of years of slavery with them
-The search for bloated-free phones.
But what google & LG are doing with the availability of the phone is really unbelievable....
Would suggest waiting for the S4, if you can. The reason is that with the Tegra 4 and Exynos 5 out, it wouldn't take time for the quad chips the current phones have to become a thing of the past. If you want the newest technology then wait. If not, buy a Nexus 4. It's the best money can buy.

I don't want to spend 600 euros on a device.... 300-400 is enough.... over that, I think is overpriced.... it's paying 200 more euro for 400 mhz more.... in the end.. I think it's not worth it.... unless you are a tech geek that needs to have the latest device.
I prefer something more modest but efficient..... A SGSII is fine nowadays: All the daily use apps work and it has the latest CM available....
If you want to play games with your device, it's another story... then, it's mandatory to look into which graphic chipset is built into the device and so......
People talk about nexus 4 as if it were so easy to get your hands on one.... here in spain it has been sold out like since always.... and, as I can read, there is little hope of getting one in the next weeks..... so, what am I supposed to do, hang on to my galaxy spica (it's my emergency/replacement phone) until the end of 2013? :crying:

Sold out + no carrier offers it in spain (plus, as I said, that would be a dumb move, a 300 euro device would finally cost you more than 1000)
Next week I will get my money back if i don't get my sgsII back......
Now, I have to look forward... this last week I have been reading news about stock of nexus 4 sometime next month (i hope this applies to spain too)..... I think I will go for the 8 Gb version....
I hope they don't run out of units too soon and we become a small group of nexus 4 users finally....

Sounds promising. Updates from motorola? Not google? Stock android? Is google going to skin there own software. This would all make sense if its true. It kind of fits in the mold of the nexus program rumors but instead of any company making a nexus phone.... Motorola will build a custom phone for you. I wonder if this is there idea to kill the nexus phones completely.

I seriously doubt that both of these can be true:
1) The phone will be shown off at I/O in May and released in June.
2) It will replace the Nexus line.
It seems to me that the X Phone cannot do both of those. In the past, Google hasn't been quite as greedy with its Nexus line as OEMs are with their skinned lines. If the X Phone is to replace the Nexus line, it will not be available until ~October, around a year after the N4's release. To release a phone that is set to replace the Nexus line only a half-year after the N4 would not go over very well with most people. I don't think I am the only one disgusted by Samsung releasing the GS4 9-10 months after its GS3 release or the new rumor that HTC plans to abandon the Droid DNA in favor of the HTC One on Verizon (which I also think will ultimately turn out to be untrue).
Swap-able hardware? BS.
Or the device is gonna be huge. Memory/CPU/GPU are a SOC (System-on-a-chip), meaning the entire kit and caboodle is a single piece soldered to the board. Even IF they got a supplier to manufacture multiple SOC variations, it would end up being more expensive at the cheapest option than to just load it up with the highest end one available by default, thanks to tooling/bulk purchases.

I don't know if this has been posted before, I searched around but couldn't find anything on it. I don't know if this is a sign of a new nexus coming soon, but I just had to do a RMA on my nexus 5 because the screen is turning white at the top, and when i asked if i would be getting a refurb phone as a replacement, he said that 2 weeks ago google switched to using nothing but refurb phones as replacements for the nexus 5 because it is now classified as "out of production" in their internal systems. It sounds to me like they are ramping down production in preparation for something new, but it might also just be their excuse for going to using refurb phones as replacements lol.
