So my turbo is unrooted and encrypted and it has been for some time all the sudden now when I shut my phone off and power of back on it completely boots up without asking for pattern to decrypt. Does anyone know why or have this issue?
Do you have "trusted source" like blutooth device attached?
Or trusted location?
You can disable security by having something like that.
No I don't and that wouldn't have anything to do with me shutting down my phone and it not booting to the encryption screen..... Right I mean that wouldn't make sense

You are mistaken. With Lollipop Smart Lock, if you boot up and have Trusted Devices, Trusted Places, Trusted Face, or On-Body Detection enabled and one of those conditions are present, then all the pattern security screens are disabled. Because the user told Android to disable it under those conditions! Has NOTHING to do with whether you are encrypted or not. During boot up, with Smart Lock exceptions activated, the phone will finish booting with all passwords, passcodes, patterns disabled.
If you say you have no Smart Lock exceptions enabled, then I don't know why are you not seeing the encryption screen. I was merely pointing out one possible reason.
If you have Lollipop, go into the Smart Lock settings and make sure you have not enabled anything.

On a Moto G with encryption the lockscreen (and thus PIN) is disabled if you connect a trusted device.

Since Android 5.0, encrypting a device doesn't require configuring a complex alphanumeric screen lock password anymore.
Does this also work combined with with unlocking the device using a "trusted device" connected over bluetooth, or a trusted NFC tag, a.k.a. "Smart Lock"?
_________
Yes, it does. I'm on a Nexus 6, fully encrypted, and I use multiple Smart Lock features, including Trusted devices, Trusted places, Trusted face, and On-Body detection.

So does 'Smart Lock' work if you encrypt your Android L moto x?

I appreciate you helping me I meant to tell you I do have trusted body on but its been on since day one and I didn't encrypt till 5.1 and the day we had on body detection , since then I've rebooted several times with on body on and its always booted to the decrypt screen!!! It makes me think my phone is not turning off completely!

I'm having an odd problem with Lollipop's smart lock feature that I can;t seem to find much about elsewhere on the internet so I wonderin if it might be related to a Sony app.
I set up the phone's security and it works fine. Then I set up a smart lock trusted place/device (same scenario happens with both). Put the phone to sleep and wake up and the smart lock seems to work -- I have to only swipe up to get to the homescreen (no password required). But from then on the security is basically disabled altogether. The next time I wake the phone I no longer have to swipe up the lockscreen. If I leave the trusted place/device the phone also just goes straight to the homescreen. When I return to the trusted place/device, same thing.
So essentially the smart lock feature is disabling security altogether on the first "smart" unlock. The only way to get security working again is to go back and set it up all over again (enter new pattern/pin). Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
I'm running lmy48i rooted. Project fi the whole time.
My phone is randomly, not duplicatably, unlocking itself in my pocket, or as I'm holding it. It's not a power button issue, as much as i want it to be. Ambient display is off
I've pulled the phone from my pocket with it unlocked in camera mode, having taken numerous pictures, no on screen buttons working because it's not "unlocked". I've picked up my phone and it unlock itself straight to the home screen, with a good 5 second lag before the lockscreen kicks in.
This happens with a pin code lock also.
I don't want to have to factory reset, as I'd rather pinpoint the problem in case it is indeed something I've done, so i don't replicate it after a reset and still have the problem.
Anybody have any ideas what i could look at for this? It's not always been this way, but it's so random, i can't pinpoint any changes or programs that i have that would be causing it.
I've searched my heart out, but all my searches come up with other related things and I've not seen any one with this specific issue

Settings -> Security -> Smart Lock -> enter your pin -> On-body detection -> turn that crap off.
Personally, I use Trusted devices (BT smartwatch,) and can understand Trusted places. But I don't know who'd want to keep their device unlocked when it's being carried around, possibly by a thief.
Tried that also. I tried toggling it on for a while then back off to see if maybe that'd jog some setting, but it hasn't fixed the issue.
I've even disabled smart lock altogether to see if that would work, and it hasn't.
Edit
I've only recently enabled pin lock to make sure i wasn't in fact leg-unlocking my phone through my pants. But enabling pin lock, smart unlock or not, hasn't changed the situation.

Apologies if this is common knowledge, I've been searching and testing all day. I'm trying to figure out Galaxy Note 5 phone encryption, as it relates to the Lock Screen.
When encrypting my Note 5, I'm forced to set either a password (7+ characters) or a fingerprint.
Once set and encrypted, I'm prevented from changing the Lock Screen lock method to anything else.
Many posts on the 'net point out the usability issues here - nobody will "want" to use encryption because nobody wants to enter long passwords just to unlock one's phone all day long.
Several posts talk about workarounds - clearing credential storage (greyed out for me) or accessing the lock screen via a different setting (Settings->Display->Lock Screen instead of Settings->Security Lock Screen - the former doesn't even exist for me.) No posts seem to have an actual working solution.
Decrypting the phone restores all of the Lock Screen lock options.
My desired outcome: Encryption enabled, with a password, lock screen enabled, but with a numeric PIN, on stock ROM without root. Galaxy Note 5 SM-N9208, 5.1.1, N9208ZTU2AOJ3.
Is such even possible?
Thanks in advance.
I forget fingerprint password. Now my phone did not open wifi & mobile data. I want to get important photo. I don't want factory restart. I have google account setting. I open GPS Location. How can I do?
Does none of the smart lock tools actually work with this phone? The trusted places option worked perfectly on my OPO, but with this phone, I'm always asked to input my pattern or fingerprint when I'm at home. It's not an issue if I'm just turning on the phone because the fingerprint is super fast, but sometimes I like to open a notification right from the lock screen, but I can't do that if the smart lock isn't working...
I am running OOS 4.0.3 and I an confirm that Smart Lock is working.
I have set a trusted device via Bluetooth, in this particular case my Bluetooth module in my car.
Here's what happens and hopefully this is what you expect.
When I am outside of my house and walking to my car, my phone is locked and requires my fingerprint.
I turn on my car and my phone pairs with my car, which then enables the Smart Lock feature.
I then turn on my screen on my phone and I see a Lock Screen but it is slightly different. The lock symbol located at the bottom has a circle around it indicating that the phone only requires a swipe to go to my home screen. It does not require my fingerprint or pin/pattern.
No matter what you do the Lock Screen is present when Smart Lock is functioning. So far I am ok with this.
If you are looking to never see the Lock Screen when Smart Lock is functioning then I am not sure if you can do that.
There could be a way using Tasker for example IF Bluetooth is Connected to Car, set Screen Lock timeout to never and that might prevent the Lock Screen from appearing.
WE would have to test this and I am not sure if Tasker can change the Lock Screen timeout.
I hope this helps.

It seems the trusted location is very spotty for me at the moment. Sometimes it works and others it doesn't.
I've got a similar problem. The phone never unlocks when I'm at a trusted location. It unlocks when I'm connected to a trusted Bluetooth though. I've set the location using both my address and by using the Google Maps screen. Nothing works.
I'm using a OnePlus 3T with the regular operating system.
Same here. Trusted location only seems to work for a few hours after adding/resetting a location. After that, it is no longer recognized. I did see an issue brought up in the Pixel forums about this issue, but clearly it's not confined to that device. Here's a few threads about it:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...art-lock-trusted-places-doesnt-seem-work.html
Hopefully they are still looking into the issue and will release a fix as part of Android O whenever that comes to the 3/3T. Or maybe it's something that OP could look into, but I doubt we'll get that fixed in a timely manner either way...
I have the opposite problem. Phone will always unlock without prompting for fingerprint or code, regardless of being in a trusted location or not. It's pretty annoying.

Screen lock doesn't work.
Hi! My problem kinda different. My OP3T screen lock doesn't work. I tried to turn off smart lock. Changing the screen lock type, still doesn't work. Even with fingerprints. So anybody can open my phone by swiping it up. Did somebody have the same problem? Should i upload the video of it and link it?
I am trying to use Hey Google to trigger some Google Home actions while my screen is locked.
No matter what I do on the settings of Google Assistant, the phone always requires me to unlock the phone before carrying on the requested command ("Sure, but first you will have to unlock your device").
I believe that there should be several Hey Google results / actions that are available with a locked screen if personal results are enabled. So, is there a way to execute Home actions while the screen is locked?
As my plan B I tried to use Smart Lock so that the screen gets automatically unlocked when the smartphone is connected to a trusted bluetooth device. Nonetheless, I am still required to unlock my phone one first time after it connects to the bluetooth device, and after that the screen is no longer locked.
In this case is there a way to set Smart Lock in such a way that the screen does not require a first unlock using the pattern or fingerprint?
