Blank Space in Notification Bar - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I just installed the new 5.0.1 update that T-Mobile released this morning with the Stagefright fix. Upon install and reboot I now have a blank space in my notification bar. I had experienced this once before and the only way I was able to fix it was by resetting the phone. Has anyone else seen this before? If so, were you able to fix it without having to reset.
I'm not rooted and am running the stock OS.

Yes that is weird

What happens if you toggle Download Booster on and off? That's the icon that's supposed to be there.

Mines does the same thing at random times even if I have download booster off or on... I just restart it and it goes away.

[Q] Notification bar not working after froyo upgrade?

I just updated my UK unbranded galaxy s to froyo (JPO) using kies (no hacks, just worked).
I'm now running into an issue with the notifications bar. It was working, then I went to the market and updated some apps, and now it keeps stuffing up. It starts off working fine then something happens, and after that I try to drag it down and it goes down a few pixels then stops. I have to hit the back button to close it in order to continue using the phone.
I thought it was launcher pro having problems with it, so uninstalled and went back to touchwiz. After doing that, it worked for a little while, but now its started it again.
Has anyone got any advice? I'd rather not have to hard reset if possible...
ps, I tried searching but couldn't find anything
I have the same on my international I9000 (JPO) every now and then, also usually after installing apps. Restarting the phone fixes it, but when it happens it's pretty annoying.
Here's assuming that you, like me, didn't wipe your SGS after upgrading to 2.2? I can't be bothered to reinstall everything right now, but I would speculate that after a wipe the issue is gone.

yeah I didn't wipe it, was really hoping to keep everything in tact, but this is annoying me so I'll probably end up wiping it unless someone has a solution for us
this has also been happening to me, anybody got a fix for it? i wiped the phone initially and then backed up the apps with titanium backup which might also be a reason. hoping theres an easier fix around this though!
So even wiping it resulted in the same issue? bugger
I'm also getting this. I did a factory reset before upgrading, so I don't think that's it.
I've found with auto rotation on and touch pro, you can grab the bar, rotate the phone and it will show you just enough of the notification bar to select what you want.
Is there any way to force close the notification bar and reload it with out restarting the phone?

I've gotten this problem a couple of times too. What's interesting to note is that the bar comes down fully and without problem if you activate it via <menubutton>->Notifications.
But of course, that's not available when you're within another program; only works from the desktop. So it doesn't really make this problem less annoying.

ha, yeah thats the same for me too, at least I can see the notifications if I really want to!!
I'm having the same problem with my i9000 with JPM. I upgraded with kies, installed voodoo lagfix and my notification bar freezes every so often. Also screen wont rotate anymore which is a real pain.
I am having the same problem with my galaxy s after upgrading to froyo. I upgraded using the reg edit hack as the phone was branded to 3 in the uk but got tired of waiting for them to release froyo.
Thought it might have something to do with that but i did a factory reset after the upgrade and it hasnt solved the problem.
very strange! any suggestions would be gladly received...

That's interesting because someone told me that installing Voodoo fixed the issue for him. He probably just hasn't run it for long enough then...
I had this, factory reset solved it. Just remember to back up anything important.
Do you have advanced task killer installed? Deinstall it (deactivate also would be enough)and install the version for froyo from the app store that made the trick for mine
best wishes gb

Same problem. Usually experience after updating an app from market or when the market app update available notification comes app. I click on it. Usually it is Angry Birds. I don't update that. And then I start experiencing this problem.
Did a factory reset after flashing JP6. No lagfix. No advancedtask killer.
Have to reboot each time this happens.
please test this:if the notification bar is not working start the task manager kill one app after another and test the nb then make a ram clean and test it again
we could find out if an app is a reason(but i can't imagine it could be an app beside of an task killer) so we will have to further search for a reason (perhaps i will find something in the cernel differences (i am a developer but not for android and not kernel stuff at all)but i doubt that one too )) atm i am kind of idealess sorry

I had this exact same problem for a few days. It would irritate the **** out of me. I read somewhere that restarting the phone might work. And it did for me. So it might be worth doing. Just restart your phone, no factory reset or anything, a simple reboot.
I'm not saying this will work, just that it fixed it for me.

I was in the middle of a skype call just now. Skype decided to freeze. Gave me an option of force close or report it. I did a force close.
And then notification bar decided to not work. There was no app running in the task bar so I cleaned the ram. Still didn't work. Had to reboot.

It happens for me with the market as well.
smth has to cause it can u confirm that it does happen in large percentace of cases after force closes or does it even happen randomly? does somebody know a good log programm which we could run on ur galaxys so we can really see what happened right befor the nb doesn't work anymore(i think we need program activity and deamons running......)
sorry for my bad english it's getting too late and it isn't my native language...

it is the notifications that cause it. Skype was also running in the notification bar and market update also comes up in the notification bar. When any of those crashes and are force closed. Notification bar gets screwed.

Random Reboot Verizon

Anyone else getting random reboots on their Nexus 6 running on VZW?
I am still on 5.0, rooted, and unlocked but my only change is to allow tethering.
I tried disabling ambient display but it still reboots randomly.
I'm unlocked and rooted on 5.01 and had my first random reboot today. When it happened I was selecting the WiFi icon from the notification menu. I did install an amo led burn in fix app earlier so I uninstalled it thinking that could be it. I too am on Verizon.

Has anyone experienced this notification bar glitch?

This happens sometimes...it's completely random and it only happens on the lock screen. I have tried 3 different builds of 5.1 and all of them have this bug. I can't figure out what is causing it. Never had this issue on 5.0.1. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
I was able to reproduce the glitch-it happens if I get a phone call and I answer it. After that if I just lock my screen with the power button and then wake my phone by pressing the power button again the status bar gets bugged. It started happening since the 5.1 update.
Now I have my navigation keys hidden and I am using Pie Controls. Could that be the issue?
Anyone else having this happening?
Just tested it and after enabling the navigation bar the glitch disappeared. This started happening after the 5.1 update. Anyone knows a fix for it?
Thank you.
I'm having the same issue. Only on 5.1 builds. Don't know whats causing it either. Totally random.

Obviously, don't hide 'em ...
Realistically, through whatever method you made them hidden, if a mod or app, contact that dev, or thread here if available, to report the issue.

I am using a line in the build.prop to hide the navigation keys to prevent screen burn in. It works fine. This glitch started happening with the 5.1 update. It's not a big deal, just wondering if anyone else is having the same experience.
Thanks for the replies.

Frequent freezes requiring reboot?

After upgrading my stock turbo to the OTA 5.1.1 I've been experiencing wake locks or frozen screens about twice a day. It seems to happen when the lock screen is activated or when I quickly turn off and then on the screen.
I've wiped the partition twice and don't know what else to try. I'm using L Launcher full time but I reverted back to the stock launcher and the same thing happened within a few hours so I swapped back.
Is there some debugging log hiding somewhere?
Thanks!

android auto weird navigation bar issue

My Android auto was working great, but today I went for a ride and when I plugged in my phone the navigation bar was flashing (it would be there, then disappear, then come back, continuously).
I cleared AA and reboot, but the issue persisted even after a fresh connection.
Just wondering if anybody else has seen this, and if anybody knows how to fix this.
Edit: figured it out. It was from Extras for AA. Even when I removed/uninstalled modules, they remained on the phone. I had to go in with a file explorer and remove them manually.
All is good now.
Cheers,
B.D.
