Hi Guys, today I managed to drop my phone, cracking my screen, and this now means I cannot type in my PIN number to access my phone. Also means I cannot back up all my info before sending the phone for repair/replacement.
I read it is possible to bypass/change the screenlock PIN, however I've not worked out how.
Can anyone assist on this???
Thank you.
Maybe you can connect a mouse to the phone using USB OTG cable and then be able to access the screen easily.
Use another phone to remove sim security or you can use, as said before, the OTG function with a usb mouse

Here is the scoop. I dropped my phone, broke the digitizer, and successfully replaced it. Ultimately, somehow, I managed to "knick" the ribbon that connects the digitizer to the screen and other hardware. I no longer have screen control, though I have keyboard control.
Is there any way to connect a mouse to the Droid 4 to open the unlock screen so I can back up my information before I get a replacement through insurance?
I would prefer to wipe my phone before it goes of to get refurbished somewhere, but if buying a lapdock is my only option, I think I will just pull my sd card and call it a day.
Thanks in advance for any help.
*EDIT 08/25
The last time I used my phone before breaking it, I set the usb interface to "Charge Only". I cannot access my files via usb. After installing ADB, I still have no access as the sd cards are not recognized by Windows
I take it my options are the following:
1) Get ABD working
2) Buy a lapdock or $80 docking station to access phone without touchscreen
3) Pull SD card and get by without pulling information off phone and without a reset
Any other options? Any help/advise?
Hello everyone,
Just had a cracked screen on Z3+ and I can't seem to access my phone to backup important files. I need to enable USB debugging so I can control the phone from PC or use the "Detect USB Device" to enable the OTG and use a Mouse to control the phone. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Hello,
Unfortunately, with the Z3+ your screen becomes unresponsive once its cracked. The same happened to mine. The good news is there's a way of getting into the phone to backup and/or delete personal information before sending it off for repairs. You need a "otg usb on the go adapter cable", you connect one end to the phone and connect a mouse to the other end and use it to navigate the screen of your phone. There should be one among the accessories that came with the phone or you can get one on amazon or similar websites.
All the best.
Good evening,
I am at my wits end.
I am using a Samsung S5 (AT&T)
This phone is STOCK
USB debugging is OFF
I do not have any RECOVERY on this phone
The screen is BROKEN and NON-FUNCTIONAL
I have a PIN ENABLED
I've been scouring the internet for about 8 hours with no solution.
I have tried an array of programs, unfortunately, most of them require USB debugging to be ON, which, to reiterate, mine is set to OFF, as in NO USB debugging, otherwise I would not be here asking for help.
I have searched the internet in search of a way to turn USB debugging ON via my PC, but the only feasible method (using Samsung Find My Mobile) was futile as I do NOT have an account with SAMSUNG.
I wish to retrieve very important pictures and documents from my phone,
again,
to reiterate,
NON FUNCTIONING SCREEN, USB DEBUG IS OFF, PHONE IS STOCK, NO RECOVERY, NO SAMSUNG ACCOUNT AND IS PIN PROTECTED.
Is there any other way I can retrieve my files?
The only other method that may work is using a mini HDMI (will be purchasing soon) so I can display my phone onto another screen, and hopefully unlock the pin with a keyboard.
Please, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thank you very very much in advance.

Oh jeez... looks like you've really got yourself in a pickle here.
Unfortunately there isn't another way to retrieve your photos without a functioning screen (you can buy a new LCD assembly for about $150 on iFixit but you'd have to install it). The HDMI tactic should work, but otherwise you're pretty screwed D:
Let this be a lesson to others to ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR STUFF. That or use an external SD when you can :3
Sorry I couldn't be of much more help than that.

I appreciate your response, and I hope you can help me get out of this salty pickle
I may have to go the route of replacing the lcd assembly if finances allow (broke as a joke, right now)
So, I finally tracked down an MHL cable, and this is where I am stuck. I am able to output the screen onto my tv, however, I cannot interact with it when I plug a USB mouse or keyboard into the TV (the TV does not state incompatibility, however it said 'device unsupported' when I plugged in a ps3 controller [for poops and giggles, and with a little hope it would work] so that tells me the keyboard and mouse should work.
This is such a tease seeing my phones display, without being able to do anything. Oh my gosh.
I feel like I'm doing something wrong, and possibly a very obvious error I'm overlooking.
Thank you.

Hi there...
I destroyed half of my phone som days ago Display is completely dead.. the rest seems ok. The backside has not a single scratch. Sensor is working, its charging, can find it via google so gps / data working, its ringing and so on...
Problem: usb debug is off, phone is locked (fingerprint works but is not sufficient, I need to enter a password to start). When I connect it to my pc, the HiSuite CD is loading but nothing else. ADB doesn't find a device.
It seems like I can bring it in recovery mode (Vol-Up+Power) because it vibrates than but doesn't come to the normal system (fingerprint sensor is not active). But here also no adb.
Is there any way to access my data? Firmware is stock 9.0.
It happened to mine, I ended up having the screen replaced, as even with HDMI output, keyboard and mouse, the password screen requires on screen input (at least for digit password).

Hm.. my password consits only of letters. What did you mean exactly? Its impossible to unlock via external keyboard? Or only if the password contains numbers?
How did you conncet mouse / keyboard and screen? did you use a docking station or something? Because there is only one usb c connector ;D
Phone has video output through most usb C to HDMI cables. Don't know about the password

I suppose with a powered usb hub it could work for both mouse and HDMI.
Because lockscreen does not allow input... You'd have to use mouse to select and click on numbers/onscreen keyboard.
Though, I can't get my keyboard/mouse to work on Mate 10 Pro for some reason, it's fine on Mate 9 on Pie but not on 10P.
Phone is back from repair and like a new one. Unfortunatelly also the memory... I told them to not reset it but they did.
Any chace to recover something of the data? I guess its encrypted but maybe there is a chance to recover with the original password?
Chances are slim... Should have asked them to make a backup before.
Hi guys
super annoyed this morning. I dropped my rog phone II ultimate onto a concrete floor and now the screen is black with the odd flashing like #devastated!
I'm going to send to asus for repair to keep warranty.
My issue is how can I recover some data on the phone? I've plugged it into my PC it will pick the device up. However a prompt usually comes up on the phone screen which I can't press.
I was thinking of buying an asus pro dock or just a cheap generic usb c to HDMI cable to see if I can get into the storage this way but the other problem I have is finger print security is set up on the device!
such a nightmare can anyone give me some advice on the way forward?
regards

to activate asus RMA you have to tick a box accepting asus will erase all data before you can proceed with the return.
Hi all
I find my own solution and post here to help anyone with similar strife. so here goes.
you will need a usb-c to HDMI hub with at least two usb ports, one for keyboard, one for mouse. Then you can log in via password, save any data, enable usb debugging etc etc.
you connect hub into the side usb-c port of the phone, (not the red one)
you can plug the bottom one into pc and now you can acknowledge the usb transfer request nag pop up.
