A few months back my friend showed me this thing he did with his nexus one tmobile version with att sim in it, he went to network operators and itshowed both tmobile and att, he clicked select automatically and poof he had 3g. Ijust got a nexus one and when I go to network operators it just shows att is there a reason for this? I'm running latest cm nightly

What network are you on?
When on wifi I get both network to show, when on 3g only tmobile show up
I'm on att but I have the first model which I believe is an unlocked version but made for tmobile bands, correct me if I'm wrong. My friends was also the same version as mine also using an att sim card but was able to use 3g on tmobile network with tmobile apn

You won't get 3g using a tmobile n1 on att network. Different hardware.
Your friend probably have tmobile if he's using tmobile apn and have 3g.

No he wasn't - it's not possible.
He either had an AT&T phone, or was connected to T-Mo 3G, or wasn't getting 3G...
Dumb question
When I look to buy HTC Vivid 4G LTE Some said unlocked. Will my at&t sim card (i am on infuse 4g) work with this even they are from same service AT&T?

I am not sure I understand what you are saying but you will have to get a new sim card, one that supports lte.
You can use the same SIM card. You just won't get LTE.

If you have LTE in your area then yes. Go in and say you need a new sim card. They will probably charge u a nominal fee
ATT shouldn't charge for new sim - only if it is not a corporate store.
U do not need a diff sim if u have the 4g already ....I came from inspire and didn't have to change my card and my LTE works

Hm. I came from an Inspire and couldn't get any data til they gave me a new SIM...which confused me, but I didn't have data with my old SIM, then I had data with my new one...so I didn't ask too many questions
I came from an HTC Aria and had to get a new SIM, something about it being provisioned for LTE.

This. AFAIK, the new SIM card allows you to use the PTA APN, at which point they put you on the LTE "equivalent" of your current data plan.

I think it has something to do with how new Ur card is mine didn't have to be changed just he had to provision it that's it
Confirm need to switch sim or can you alter APN settings on phone to pick up LTE?
So, I went from a galaxy s2 with unlimited data plan, very expensive, but my SIM won't pick up LTE when put it in my new Htc Vivid....so are you saying I have to have a new LTE SIM?
Will AT&T give me one as I would think they want traffic to move over to the LTE service if I am already paying for an unlimited plan?
Anyone run into this?
I cannot change my plan to anything more expensive as it is a corp plan but it is already an unlimited voice data plan....

Is it unlimited data as well? I was under the impression that lte was for data and phones calls switch back to a lower network setting. If it is unlimited data you would need a new sim to take advantage of the lte. They should not charge you for the sim, I got it for free when I upgraded to the vivid from the captivate.

That is the case.
When they provision your plan, they put you on the LTE equivalent of what you already had. No change in price or terms or anything. You just have Smartphone Unlimited LTE instead of Smartphone Unlimited or whatever it's called.
Hi all, you were correct, ATT store gave me a new LTE capable SIM, the weird thing is that the only APN setting on the phone is called PTA....and won't give me any data connection at all, I am NOT in a LTE area now but I would think it would revert to the system that is available, 2g,3G or Hspa?
I added another APN but does this mean I have to manually switch back and forth when I get into an let area? This seems ridiculous?
Any advice I would appreciate?
Is there one APN setting that will do it all?
Other question. I am on infuse 4g (4g sim card in it) wonder iif I get other phone from Verizon or T-Mobile that has 4g and unlocked. Will I get 4g speed from them or what??
Thanks

hi, Infuse is a GSM phone so no Verizon....
As of now...tmobile sim might work but would only get you 2g...and you have to do a SIM unlock...tmobile 3g only works on 1700 band and Infuse has 3G bands of 850, 1900 and 2100 (UK band).....
Now, article today mentioned tmobile might open 1900 band on their hspa+ network but it is later this year and again you would have to SIM unlock...hspa+ is a pseudo 4g...it is not LTE but much faster than typical 3G,...that could work for ya...
Hope that helps.....

I have just found out that if you have a ATT phone and use Tmobile Sim you only get 4g lte, I have been asking about it but havent really gotten a answer, Havent really noticed any problems in the past though, I get good download speeds and upload, But havent tried it really in a area where no 4g is available. IDK
Hey what's up guys I'm using a 64 gig unlocked AT&T S6 edge on the T-mobile network. I'm having the troubles of only getting 2g connection at best. I been on the phone with T-Mobile and AT&T to figure out why I get such slow speeds. My APN is correct, but the network settings won't let me select LTE/WCDMA/GSM on my phone. AT&T tech support told me to come to this forum and upload T-mobile firmware to the phone so it will pick up the frequencies I need to hit 4g speeds etc. on the T-mobile network. Has anyone had to do this before? If that is what I have to do does anyone have instructions on how to do it and where to get the firmware I need? Thank you!
