Hey guys, I have a dead spot and ghost touch problem on my vs980 touchscreen. I purchased it as a refurb on Amazon and I'm not sure whether the seller will replace it (noticed a problem early on, but thought it was an issue with my clumsy thumb- but now it's gotten worse a couple weeks after the return period). I read on a couple other threads that people have cured this problem on other phones by putting them in the freezer for a few hours in a plastic bag. The only problem is that they always describe removing the battery before doing this. Obviously, this would take some work on the g2. Any opinion on whether doing this with the battery in would be too risky? Anyone think this will work at all?
I have had my phone for almost two years and that same thing just started on my so I would be very interested if that works.
Nope. Didn't work.

Hi there, just got my Kasier yesterday and was working fine, but took it out of the belt case on getting to work and the screen is super washed-out and white. You can still barely make out some words etc. but something is definately wrong. Rebooting the normally red version numbers in the bottom right are a light cyan/blue! Any ideas? Only other weird thing is battery was down to 77% at 8:15 am from full at 6:30am with about 30 mins WiFi use. Unit gets hot with WiFi but not crazy so, and is not hot now. Rebooting doesn't fix the issue. Help!!!! Thanks for any ideas...(and yes already notified MadMonkeyBoy of the problem since I got it from him).
happend 1year ago with my tytn
Hi,
This behaviour happend to me 1 year ago with my Tytn. since this happend just before my hollidays, I open a ticket to HTC europe, they request me to send it back for repair. When I return from vacation (I let the battery out), I just checked before sending it, and... it was fine... never happend again...
My advice... let it rest a little... you stressed it 2 much...
Now serious... send it to HTC.
Regards,
Joao
does the case have a magnet to hold it closed? i thought i read somewhere on XDA that the when the phone is in a case with a magnet it can cause some problems; i don't recall, though, if this caused problems with the screen... i'm interested to hear feedback, thoughts from other "real" experts.

The case that comes with the Kaiser is not one with Magnets. Similar pouch style but with a tape/velcro fastening.
Having said that I'm using a Hermes case with magnets. It does no harm, though it can operate the screen orientation switch according to reports. In addition it can (again according to reports and tested by me) actually turn the device on from standby so you could drain your battery using such a case.

This happened to me last night. Anyone got any answers? I'm using a Krussel case with a magnet. Phone only bought recently second-hand off ebay - just a few weeks. Gutted here.
Sorry to dig up a thread from the dead, but I just had this happen tonight. It looks EXACTLY like the pics in the OP's post. Has anyone ever found a solution to this problem? Even LCD replacement? I don't mind replacing the LCD If I know it will fix the problem. My fear is buying a replacement LCD and finding out it is some other hardware problem, and I don't want to waste the money on an LCD if it's not the issue at hand.
Hi,
Recently got my nexus, had it for about 3 days.
Everytime I use the wallcharger, the phone seems to heat up a lot.
Not to the point where its untouchable, but it doesnt seem right. None of my other phones did this.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Also, I just bought a case off ebay ( silicone, resin.. one of those.)
I'm thinking that when I have the case of while charging, the heat'll be trapped inside and could potentially do damage...
Sorry for the questions just making sure.
Snapdragon-equipped phones seem to do that: warm while charging, warm after extensive use. Happens with N1's, happens with Desires.
happened with all my nokias
happens with iphone
I shouldn't expect any damage from using a case though,should I?
Hi all,
I've replaced my Atrix HD twice now under warranty for the same issue. This is my third Atrix HD. This last time, it was a few weeks out of warranty before it started up again, so AT&T would not replace it. Wonderful.
I love the Atrix HD, with the exception of the horrible squealing during video and audio recordings that I have yet to figure out, and the screen flaking out on me. I would have the phone for a few months completely without issue, then it would start acting up. The screen would turn off randomly, or so I thought at first. I've had this problem so much, I've worked out how to make it happen and to temporarily fix it.
If I sort of flex my phone back from the top left corner to the bottom right corner, the screen will stay on and work. However, if I flex it between the bottom left and top right corner, the screen goes off pretty much immediately, and since this issue has been exactly the same on the last 3 phones I've had, it makes me wonder if this is a manufacturer defect or something. The screen is black, but still reacts normally to touch (I can hear and feel the unlock screen, or if I pull up a piano app I can still play it, still shows when connected via HDMI, etc.
I'm pretty gentle with my phone, especially since the last two times I've had to replace it. I've never dropped it, even on carpet. I don't have a case or anything and I keep it in my pocket, but it stays in pristine condition. I don't even load a lot of apps on it.
I'm not sure what to do. It's obviously a hardware issue. I've opened it up and reseated the ribbon cables to no effect. I'm not really sure what else to check, but I had reservations about messing with the LCD/Digitizer too much. I don't want to break it and have no phone at all! Anyone else have this issue before? Any advice?
Thanks in advance,
greyspot
P.S. I'm in IT, so I'm comfortable taking things apart and troubleshooting. I've just done all I can think to do aside form replacing the LCD.
I mean you could try replacing the LCD and digitizer and see what happens. I'm not sure how much they cost but if you really like our HD then it's probably worth it. Sounds like it's "fool me twice, shame on me" and you should get a different phone. I've had zero issues with mine even after installing the EB40 battery and cleaning dust from behind the glass and on the lcd. Maybe you're just unlucky?
People freak out about fixing the hardware but it's no bug deal at all. It's like slightly more functional and expensive Lego's.

The last few replacements were free, not that I didn't want to try another phone. Maybe I'll try to replace the LCD, but at this point I might just buy another phone and move on. Frustrated. Anyone else encounter this issue before?
This seems to be the same problem I was having. In my post from the 30th.

[Q] Display backlight inop sometimes

Weird that a battery mod would fix it. I think it's because the battery is a bit bigger, and pushes on whatever it is that is loose in our phones just right. Oh well, I've already given up. I may try to fix it after I get my new phone and keep it as backup, but I went ahead and got an Optimus G on Swappa. I just found out about Swappa. Liking it very much! Still haven't gotten the Optimus yet, but I've had the Optimus V on Virgin, and it was a very solid phone.
Oh well, thanks for the help from those that replied. I've seen this issue pop up on different forums as well, so I believe it is a common problem with the Atrix HD.
Hi Guys,
I was cleaning my phone the other day when I noticed an ackward gap between the screen and phone. I inspected it and I've just noticed the screen is coming off the phone. I had a look around and it's going from the bottom to the top. Has anyone had this problem?
BTW phone is has been in a pouch for 1.5 years and I can confirm has never been dropped. Given the phone is out of warranty what are the chances Motorola will repair this for free???

Man, did you manage to fix your screen? I am having the same problem here, just like you I was cleaning my phone when I realized the screen was coming off on one side. I know its been some time since you posted this but I am just wondering if you managed to fix it.
I saw this problem on other smartphones, you should check your battery, because on iPhones when it happens when the battery push and finally detach the LCD from the frame

Right, it seems to be that issue.
Some early N6 have had battery troubles. Their batteries inflated because of warm which usually makes the back cover taking off.
You seem to have the same problem but pushing the front of the device instead. (back may be well glued)
Don't know if Motorola will take it back. Furthermore, they have been selled to Lenovo since that, so it may be difficult. In Europe, when warranty is over (2 years), you won't get anything from them.
Just stick it back to its position, it's not a big deal. Maybe you'll have to buy some special tape for this.
http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Rahmen-Kleber-Klebepad-Klebefolie-Adhesive-Sticker-Frame-Motorola-Google-Nexus-6-/272109920217?hash=item3f5b03dfd9:g:VH8AAOSwCypWnlXM Something like that. Don't know if it is a special tape or a basic one..
This is my first post here, and I come with a really peculiar problem, that drove me insane for the past week.
Here's the deal, about a week ago I noticed that some of the images in my download folder looked kinda funny, as in little boxy and not properly anti aliased, grainy and started looking closer at other pictures and ui elements, just to notice they're all the same, and not only in the phone UI and pictures, but in apps too, the text and pictures on instagram are just not properpy anti aliased, like showing a lower resolution altogether. In Instagram the round graphics are jagged on top and bottom like a line in paint. A white background looks gray dotted all over at regular intervals.
The only thing I can think that could've triggered this was me accessing the recovery to show a friend how to perform a cache partition wipe, then just booted back and making no changes (stock recovery). After noticing the problem I actually performed a cache wipe with no effects.
In safe mode the screen looks the same, and the physical screen is clean, with no oils that could give off this effect.
It's observable as far as 30 centimeters away.
My battery started to drain massively too.
So my question is, is this an hardware issue, or if it sounds like something you've encountered, how could I fix this, and before you say so, it's not all in my head
The firmware version is EVA-L09C432B399, this phone has not been dropped in almost 6 months and it's 13 months old. Thank you in advance!
If your battery just recently started to drain (and if it's not battery getting old), check into this issue about recent Goofle Pkay Services update causing issues

Sad to hear,
Meanwhile ive sent a ticket to Huawei Support and they recommended i do an Factory Reset, and so, 3 days ago, i did, good news is my battery life has tripled, bad news, the screen is in the same condition, and i just read in a questionable article, but who knows, that it might have open circuits on the flex cable due to overheating melting the plastics, not likely since i never allow it to overheat, ive been using it extensively since my pc broke though. Or me hitting a table corner while having it back side facing forwards in my front jeans pocket, since the flex cable is right above the battery on the back side, this is still just speculation, and i intend to turn it in for warranty. Keep you posted when i do.

Happened a few times, in class it's really narrow, but usually I take really good care of it, dropped it twice in its lifetime in the first 2 weeks, it was twice as big as the HTC desire I used to have.
