I have a white G1 phone t-mobile service and i can't access it. I need help. My G1 is stuck in the android screen its because I tried upgrading it to the hero and I did a hard reset which it deletes everything. I tried inserting other peoples SIM's but it still won't sign me in. Is it Bricked??? :S now it won't let me sign into my gmail account. I tried making a new account, it still won't sign me in ( I have internet service ).
Please help me.
Thank you so much in advance...
What did you do to get it to this point? Were you trying to root? Were you trying to update the ROM? Were you putting it in the microwave on HI power for 2 1/2 minutes? My point being, details, man, we need details.
Am sorry forgot to do that.
well I tried upgrading it to the hero and I did a hard reset which it deletes everything. I tried inserting other peoples SIM's but it still won't sign me in. Is it Bricked??? :S
Can you get into recovery?
Turn off your phone
Hold HOME (leave it held) and power on your phone... If you can get into your recovery then it's not bricked.
I'm having the same issues as takef0cusin above, arriving in a slightly different way. I was properly registered on 1.0.0 and used auto nooter 2.12.15. That went fine and there were no problems, but I decided to upgrade to 1.0.1 after some Wifi dropping issues. So I decided to flash back the the clean stock ROM.
I did the re-image holding down the power button 8 times, then I did the "three button data reset". Everything seemed to go fine, but it still started with the Logic PD Zoom screen and it never gave me the opportunity to re-register. Owner and Account are listed as unavailable. I then tried again using the "Erase and Deregister Device" method. Same results.
The new icons from the rooting are there, which makes me wonder if I actually had a successful flash back. I tried to register with the Gmail icon. It let me put in my email username and password. I acts like it is going to work, starts to load my conversations, then returns to the NC Home screen. I also tried to go through YouTube, but after registering I get "There was a problem with the network [401]". The Wifi still works, it still gets me the news, but the weather won't load because it says it there's location available.
What do I try next? I'm afraid to do anything because of all the warnings to re-register the NC first thing after any of these upgrades.
Thanks and Happy Holidays, OKMD
I've been through all this twice now. The second time was exactly as you have described and all I did was to redo the 3 button data reset. I was then able to re-register it.
Did it pop up to tell/ask you to register, or did you have to go looking somehow? Mine isn't asking and I don't know how to force it. Thanks.

If memory serves, after clearing data it comes up with screens where you select time zones, state, city, etc and then it asks for your user name and password. All this happens automatically after you do the 3 finger data reset.
5.1 Sign in loop. After email verification I am sent back to "Select wifi network"
Im on 5.1. When my phone boots up to the welcome screen I click "English", this sends me to sign in to my wifi, I do. Then it asks me to sign in to my email address this is what it says, "Verify your account", "This device was reset. To continue sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device." I sign in with my Google account and my password, it then takes me to "By signing in you agree to the, blah blah. I click "ACCEPT" The screen says "Checking Info..." THEN THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME. It takes me back to "Select Wifi network". Its like a loop. I have tried other Google email I have but same thing. I have wiped cache, factory reset and this is the same thing all the time. I am lost. Please help. Any ideas would be very welcome.
Same is the case here!

I am facing the exact problem described by you on my Google Nexus 6. The reason being OEM unlock is switched off from inside and there is no option to turn it on again, without which flashing the bootloader is not possible.
I am still waiting for someone to reply or help with solution. Thanks for any help!

How did you update? OTA or factory IMG? Is your bootloader unlocked?
Had this problem as well over the weekend.
Whatever you do don't factory reset your N6 (or any other phone with 5.1 Device Protection) if you've changed your Google password within 72hrs. I found this out the hard way....
Important: If you reset your Google account password and need to do a factory reset, you need to wait 72 hours after changing your password to reset your device. For security purposes, you can't use an account if the password was changed within 72 hours to set up the device after reset.

Full page here.
I made this mistake and got stuck in a loop during setup on the N6. It would get past the WiFi setup, move to the account verification screens (gmail email then password) and loop back to the WiFi setup again. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why. Finally called Google support and after 30min was told I needed to wait 72hrs to try to reactivate the phone because I had reset my Google password less than 72hrs prior to factory resetting it.
Hopefully this will shed some light on the issue.

So that's it. I literally have to wait? I need my phone now.

Lesson learned
Going forward, if I had a nandroid backup, and flashed it, I would be good right?
---------- Post added at 05:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:40 PM ----------
According to my Google account, I last changed my password on April 6th, at 11:46pm.
So with the 72 hour rule, at 11:46pm tonight, I should be able to log it, right?
(I just had to go flashing a new ROM lol)

Yes
Yes. I had no issues activating my N6 using my Google account once the 72hrs had past.
I just purchased my N6 from someone off Ebay and am getting this message. I have no clue whether the guy changed his password or not and he is not responding to any emails. He shipped it on Friday afternoon and it is now Tuesday - should be past the 72 hour mark. Any other ideas how to fix?

I remember seeing something about this, but I'm not 100% positive. As I remember, on 5.1 after a factory reset, if device protection was enabled the owner has to sign in again and disable all security. If he failed to do this, then he will need to supply you with his user name and password for his Google account (good luck!), or you'll have to return the phone to him, and he'll have to deal with it.

If you haven't already, open a claim with eBay first. By doing that, the seller has to respond.
Terrific!!! :/ will do thanks.

No problem. Definitely protect the money you spent first! That's what buyer protection is for.
Since i just got it, ebay resolution cases don't take effect yet. I did send him an email (through ebay) explaining and pretty much demanding this information. Kinda annoyed at the fact that i have this sitting around on my desk and i can't even play!! Lol

I know, that's a huge bummer! I do recommend that you don't try to do anything yet though. If it turns out that you can't get past the sign in error, the seller will have to refund you. You purchased a device that was supposed to be working, right? So, you are not responsible. In the time you're waiting, you can keep checking, in case the password reset does go through.
That's exactly my plan. This guy has been less than responsive via ebay email so let's hope for the best here. Thanks for such a quick reply, too. I was freaking out over here

On eBay you need to attempt to contact and resolve with seller 1st before you can open a claim or dispute.

I had forgotten what the time limit was, being I haven't had an issue with eBay in a long time. OP had stated that he had tried to contact and the seller didn't respond, that's why I suggested the claim. The sooner he gets the resolution center involved, the better.
Hi guys,
My friend's phone suddenly won't unlock for some strange reason, he swears that he entered the same pin hes been using all along but the phone just won't unlock, what's even weirder is that there's no Google reset option after 5 tries, it will just lock him for 30 seconds, his Google account is still connected and his phone is still connected to his home wifi, we tried resetting the password via find my android but there's no option to enter a new pin, are there any suggestions? he got access to his gmail account, same one that on his phone, he want to restore access without having to reset the phone because he didn't back it up, we tried countless of tutorials and none of them worked, please help if you know anything, I'm afraid I will just have to tell him to bite the bullet and reset it.
I bought a new G6 (unlocked) for my sister, who lives in another state. She activated the new phone last night (Mint Mobile). When she got to the screen asking for entry of a password to protect against unauthorized use she entered a complex password (she didn't know she could just skip that screen). She wrote the password down, but now she can't find it. I called her this morning and she was able to use the fingerprint scanner to open the phone enough to answer my call, but she can't get to her apps.
I am aware that this sounds a little "fishy", but I didn't know where else to turn. Is there any way to reset or remove that password? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks, Jerry

She can boot to recovery and reset the whole phone, the only option if bootloader is locked.
Got to wipe the phone and start over. tell her to make sure next time it's a simple password because she's going to have to use it every time to unlock the device if she has a screen lock set to password. even if it's set to fingerprint you have to enter the password anytime you reboot the device to unlock it the first time.
It's there to prevent unauthorized use so no there's no way around it. Except for factory resetting. even then make sure she logs in with the same Google account because she probably enabled factory reset protection as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I walked her through the factory reset procedure, but when she tried to set up the phone and entered her Google credentials the phone said "searching" and wouldn't go past that screen. She finally called Motorola and they said if I could send proof of purchase she could forward it to them and, if approved, they will ask her to send them the phone and they will send her another new phone. She is still waiting,

That's a bummer. They should send another one though. It's covered since you didn't unlock the bootloader.
