So i got my Xtremeguard Tempered Glass Screen protector and back protector. Highly Disappointed. Halo all around and the film for the back of the phone is cut to big and the the cutout around the camera and heart rate sensor looks horrible. The back film I will have to cut myself so it fits, its just to go between the phone and a case,so nothing gets scratches.
I always used Xtremeguard for my LG G3 , but not for the note5 now.

I just emailed them i will see what they say.
I had issues with my wife's note 4 screen protector , they refunded my money and said just to write return to sender on the package.
It's the 2.5D glass the note 4 and 5 use, the edges of the screen are curved, not flat. When you find one the doesn't do that it won't coder the edge is the screen.
I really hate to pay alot for a screen protector. Was hoping XtremeGuard would work for me like it did on my LG g3

Interestingly, that screen protector actually says, "2.5D" on the packaging. Ii need to google that phrase, I've never heard of it, but that would be nice to know if screen protector manufacturers could tell us if they account for the curved screen or not.

The 2.5D Jettech is talking about means the edge of the screen protector is also rounded off so it doesn't have a sharp edge.

Actually you want the rounded edge so it isn't sharp, some aren't 2.5D and they can slice your finger if you run it along the edge of it. I can tell you there are 0 glass protectors that cover the entire screen including the curved edge. They didn't have it for the 4 and they won't have it for 5 either.

I was saying it's a bummer that the screen protector is not curved. Not that it was a bummer that they rounded the edges. Just to clarify.
That is really unfortunate though. The screen protector I have barely covers my screen and has a bad halo. i can't imagine having a screen protector that only goes to to where the halo starts.

I have this screen protector and my phone looks nothing like this. I agree it doesn't cover 100% of the screen which I love because I use full body cases (supercase unicorn) and it sits perfectly in that case. I wonder if you got a lemon. Have you tried reseating the protector?
I used xtremegaurd with very little halo.

Refund
I just got 2 of these in the mail. It came in generic packaging, doesn't even say xtremeguard anywhere on it. Front of the plastic box just says "real tempered glass screen protector." I don't even think these are made for the Note 5. They are probably for the note 4. mine look like mrpickem's as they don't have the small round cutout inside the top cutout to account for the large front camera lens.
i found a thread somewhere else on xda and someone said xtremeguard and just been buying whatever tempered glass protectors they can buy in china and sending out various brands. think i'm gonna ask for a refund.
I got mine today. Very disappointed, the front camera and sensor area wasn't big enough. I should of figured when the glass came in a package with an iPhone on it.

I'd believe it
Actually I'm fairly happy with mine. You can't expect much for $4 IMO. If some of the better makers come up with a highly regarded unit I'll switch...otherwise I can roll with this for awhile.
next to my note 4, the halo much worse on note 4 and it was expensive protector

Because of the sides of the screen being curved, many glass screen protectors on the market don't address this and are flawed. I'm going to keep a list of the ones that I have tried and will keep updating the thread with any progress. As the title reads this is for the tempered glass screen protector, not film, not 'flexible glass.' Tempered glass is the only I use.
Tried:
EzGuardz
Edges did not adhere.
Ghostek
A bit wider than the EzGuardz, covers more of the glass, and cutouts are better...but edges don't adhere once again.
I suspect the reason why none of these adhere is because they haven't addressed the fact that the edges of the screen are curved downward. They can easily fix this by have the edges of the screen protector end where the glass begins to curve.
All these are on my Moto Maxx which is equivalent to the Droid Turbo.
If anyone orders other ones please feel free to chime in and I'll update the first thread with the info.
So, EZGuard also does not adhere to the edges of the screen.
Other than that is pretty good.
Feels like it has some kind of oleophobic coating.
With a Gorilla Glass screen, and a 1 use free screen replacement from Verizon, are screen protectors really needed?

Gorilla glass does not equal scratch resistant, I work in the mobile industry and every one of our demo phones have scratches on it, also it definitely doesn't mean it's shatter resistant. The screen replacement applies to the droid turbo if you have Verizon, a good number of people are using it outside of Verizon's network. And I personally have the moto maxx so again, doesn't apply. I've had screen protectors on every one of my phone's that were touch screen.

From my understanding, yes they replace the glass, but not the digitizer. I like the added protection

Wow, I've been using Phones with Gorilla Glass since I moved to Verizon with the D1 and never scratched the screen, but I also never carry it in the same pocket as my keys. To each their own, my wife has used glass screen protectors sold to her by the rep and the one time the protector shattered, when they removed the protector at Verizon they scratched the screen removing the shattered glass. Of course a new protector and she never noticed.

The digitizer isn't built into the screen? Huh always kinda figured they were.
I've had people come in saying the same as you, but they never look closely until it's pointed out. I bet you there are hair line scratches on the screen. Anything from bits of sand to fibers that are just the right hardness will leave a mark on the glass
But if these people don't notice then who cares?
But they notice after its been pointed out, which in turn they always get a screen protector. A small scratch may not appear to be much but it still reduces the integrity of the screen. Besides a $10-$20 screen protector which protecting a $200 screen... You do the math.

There was a white spot on the top near headset and parts of the edges (on all 4 edges) didn't stick, small enough to call them 'slivers' of bad adhesive.

Looking into a glass screen protector as well.
Got any recommendations?
Just installed a Mimeusa tempered glass today, was a-bit disappointed. Maybe it's part of a bad batch but the edges and camera cutout are not adhering evenly. Its very noticable towards the bottom, lifting between the home a back button.
Ordered Mimeusa before for my Oneplus one and it installed great. Hopefully I can get an answer from customer service.

Yep! It follows the screen edges exactly, coming right out to the rounded edges of the screen. The cutout for camera and sensors is spot-on, as well. It's a match. I should note that I have the exact same areas (at the very top of the screen, and a small spot at the bottom, between the home & back buttons) that don't want to adhere as I did with the iVoler. It's apparently got more to do with my screen than the protector that's on it. Anyway, these BodyGuardz are available at your AT&T store, and probably elsewhere as well, and the warranty on them is a big plus compared to an Amazon-purchased iVoler that might take 3-4 weeks to arrive from Shengzhen.
So are there any glass protectors that adhere to the edges?

I normally look at amazon reviews. I am currently using a Casebase LG G3 glass screen protector, looking at amazon reviews in .DE and also .CO.UK this has the highest reviews as well
I am going to email Casebase now and ask them if they are making these for the upcoming LGG4 and if yes i will stick with them. You get 2 glass screen protectors in the pack and one of them is a spare
Hi, i would like to pre-order one, to receive it before the g4. Which one is the best for you?
Envoyé de mon LG-D855 en utilisant Tapatalk
In regards to which protector would be best; I am not at liberty to make any judgement since I don't yet have the phone nor screen protectors. However, I would agree with the above poster that waiting for amazon reviews to come out is certainly in your best interest. Allow the other people to identify which products do and do not work. You'll save yourself time and money that way.

Sup!
I've got a LG G3 and I ordered a screen protector from Amazon a while ago and it's a really great fit from a company called Casebase! I'm going to probably order another one for my G4. But as the previous comments have suggested you could wait for reviews and such, or you could use your previous experiences to make a purchase before hand, that's what I'm doing!
Hope this helps
Hi Guys here is the reply i got from casebase.com. I have just ordered one from amazon as well.
Hi Jack,
Glad you are very happy with the glass screen protector for the LG G3. I can confirm we have launched the glass screen protector for the LGG4. It is already being sold on amazon and it is a twin pack just like the LGG3 version. Please look out for a video going up on youtube on 14th of May showing our protector on the real device. I can confirm there are no bubbles and it covers the phone edge to edge. I suspect many other brands will not have this covering the phone edge to edge but we have used a 0.18mm korean glass for this model which does the job perfectly fine.
We hope your very happy with your purchase
Kind regards, Casebase

I'm a little hesitant with zagg-- after reading some of the people on other xda forums that have issues with them, and zero customer support, I would consider an enjoyable experience to be a lucky one as well. I've personally never had them because of the high price tag, but I've heard now several stories of how the quality has gone down the tubes in recent time. Again, this could be speculation, or what have you, but from what I've seen, the company is not what it used to be.

I managed to order the phone on saturday and also the casebase twin pack glass screen on saturday from amazon.de (they are showing in stock for the phone today as well which is way before release date) My tracking shows it should be here tomorrow. I will give you my honest opinion of the casebase glass screen protector when i have installed it
Regarding Zagg, they lost the screen protector game ages ago. They are just over priced and a known high street retail ripp of brand.
Companies like casebase, Spigen, Orzly, Luvitt all make good glass screen protectors at a third of the price online.

What's to say that if there was no screen protector that the screen wouldn't have been fine? I haven't used a screen protector since the G1 and never had a screen shatter of crack yet. Even with various drops. Although I could just be lucky. Or it could be a false sense of security the protectors provide?

HI - In my opinion its not a case of false sense of security. Each time i have dropped my phone hard enough and the glass screen has broken im sure if it wasn't for this glass screen protection then the phone screen would of broke. It would of at least chipped it a little bit. Either way for me its not worth the risk. I change my phones once a year and buy them simm free so its not a risk worth taking

The case i am using is a Orzly Lg g4 fusion case, it offers very solid protection around the sides but also shows of the back of the phone as the case is transparent on the back. All in all my phone looks gorgeous :good::good::good:

Please share your experiences with tempered glass screen protectors in this thread so they do not clutter the forum.
Coming from the Nexus 6, tempered glass screen protectors were a nightmare . the curved screen made them have a halo effect and caused proximity sensor issues. I'm hoping this phone is not going to be the same.
Personally I just ordered the Spigen glass.tr slim for my phone.. It can be found for 9.99 + free shipping on amazon currently. I will be reporting back with my review once I receive it and my phone.
I've had bad luck with the tempered glass protectors. On both my Nexus 5 and my Nikon DSLR, I've had the tempered glass break - no damage to the screens themselves, just broken screen protectors. No thanks.
I'd say they did their job then ... Seems they protected your phone from breakinh

My laid my spigen on top of my Cruzerlite bugdroid case to get an idea of coverage and it appears as though the screen protector goes edge to edge..leaving just barely enough room for a lip on a case

I have an s8+ with an official Samsung screen protector which is really great. Easy to put and to take off of you want, I even got 2 in the package, and case friendly with the official cases from Samsung.

Does anyone know if this thing exists or will be released later or can anyone tell me of an alternative. A screen protector which is similar or better.

Bugger really. The Note 7/FE Samsung protector was so good. I've already wasted money on the rubbery foil types that don't work with the S Pen and tempered glass which don't sit properly and thus rubbish screen sensitivity.

fits perfectly, even with case, pen works, edges are covered and so on.
maybe try this one until you can buy the official one. i don't regret it (for now) but whitestone will be here next week anyway so im not using it very long

I own 2 unopened packages of the official Samsung s8+ screen protectors. Size difference is .1".
Going to give one of them a try if sensors align.
Tried a Zagg, but it came with debris sandwiched between layers in sealed box. Returned to BB

never used the Samsung screen protectors but I can say the Zagg I had on my note 3 sat there for 3-4 yrs before I took it off. No case, just that screen protector and I have face palmed it on the ground about 5 times and never cracked. Dropped phone on every corner and phone is in bad shape but screen never cracked. took zagg invisishield off to replace it with another and couldn't get it off the packaging and said screw it don't need a protector. Well 2 weeks later, dropped phone on face and not one part of the screen was not cracked.. crud...
so now I'm searching the forums and contemplating the zagg again, but from what I see here yall like the Samsung ones...

The Zagg Curve on my Note8 is fantastic!!! I don't understand some of the negative reviews other than they posted them due to previous problems on the curved screens.
Zagg got their act together and the new one is flawless and easier than ever to apply.

And you're experiencing absolutely no decreased sensitivity with yours? I've read many stories of people returning the Note 8 Zagg glass because the phone (esp the keyboard) was no longer registering their taps and they'd have to push really hard afterward. Also people were posting pictures of the fingerprint smudges on their Zagg glass.
The Zagg sounds like it will work with my chosen cases, but I've been wary of buying it because of the bad reviews. I won't be able to return it after I make the purchase, so I would be glad to hear more.

Absolutely no screen sensitivity issues whatsoever!
The screen smudges are definitely there, but I don't think it's any worse than the naked screen.

Thanks for the feedback. Will definitely keep this in consideration, then. The smudges are not as big of an issue as screen sensitivity, for sure.
I have bought the Zagg for Note 8 but I'm experiencing a serious issue on the screen's sensitivity when I'm not using the S Pen. Besides that, I'm curious on the adhesive for the protector. Is it just on the sides or there's adhesive in the middle as well? Thanks.

Just had best buy apply a ZAGG glass to my note8 and the sensitivity is greatly decreased. Just ****. Actually as I wrote this it decided it didn't want to stick anymore and came off. Don't waste your money. Its a piece of ****.
The Zagg curve is garbage, anyone telling you that it doesn't decrease touch sensitivity is full of crap.
Samsung canceled production of their screen protector for the note 8.
It's in their interest to not make one... Look at all the repair business they get. I wish it had a flat screen

How did you find that out? It makes sense as there isn't one available at this late date, but where was it announced?
I just received an IQ Shield Matte screen protector and I'm really disappointed. It screws up the colors and whites have a rainbow effect to them. I took it off and now I'm looking for a new one. I'd like one that is:
1. Anti-glare
2. Anti-fingerprint
3. Clear and doesn't screw with this beautiful display.
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
Thee one and only,,,,but more importantly expensive whitestone dome screen protector is probably the most I've heard of working...45 to 50 dollars tho
Any you can recommend about $20 and under?
First I tried the Spigen NeoFlex film screen protectors and they are garbage. Then I ordered a cheapo full cover tempered glass screen protector from eBay and it works great.

I've only been using it for about a week so I can't say how well it will keep dust out. Sensitivity is great, I don't notice it's on at all. It's not Anti-glare or Anti-fingerprint but it's only $8.
I'm using the i-blason tempered glass.
Under $20, it's still on, doesn't interfere with the screen.
It's still going to collect fingerprints and smudges due to the oils in our skin, but it wipes off easily.

thats becuz the neoflex is a rubber 3m film, not plasti-glass. i honestly like Spigen Neoflex screen protector. only downfall is using the pen on it leaves lines where youve drawn .. but cant be felt by your touch

Oh wow that sucks but for some reason YouTubers recommend this for s8 and note 8 idk man it looks promising but yeah that warning I've never seen before
There are plenty of discussions under the accessories section
But I'd say don't bother. I had one tempered glass protector on for an hour before it annoyed me too much and I removed it! Destroys the feel and use of the phone.
I have been buying the RhinoShield stuff for my stuff and its held up really well for me.
rhinoshield.io is where you'll find it.. (I havn't logged in long enough that I forgot my account info :/ )
edit: found my login info so now I can add the link:
https://rhinoshield.io/collections/samsung-galaxy-note-8
Plus, nobody else's stuff has any evidence that even suggests it actually works.
I havn't tried it for the note8 but I came by this thread while I was researching if anyone had so figure I'd mention it. It is expensive to get the whole kit (screen protector, bumper, and in this case rear glass protector), but I found it worth it..
I have a cheapo '2.5D' glass and its doing well. Touch response is worse mind.
There is a speaker hole at the top; this needs covering with a bit of tape or you wil get dust between the screen and the protector.

I purchased a relatively inexpensive TG protector. While it exhibits many of the drawbacks of TG protectors that aren't full-adhesive (i.e. all of them except the Whitestone Dome), it doesn't have quite the "rainbow effect" that I've seen with other protectors.
Its real downside, though, is its slickness ... I need a more paper-like surface to better control the s-pen. Just the tiniest bit of friction would help. I'm thinking that I may have to go to a film protector rather than TG to get that, though. Does anyone else have this issue with TG protectors?

Ever since the introduction of the edge curved screen (and I have owned the lot) I have never found a decent screen saver. It is a subject on every forum here on XDA and concerning all the Samsung edge models.
I have taken recommendations only to find them useless. Some use a glue, some have a dotted appearance after application some just suck period!
I used a partial screen saver once that just covered the centre of the screen but even that proved awful. Even used Samsungs own on the Note 7 and though that was not glass it also was horrible.
If any peer here does find a working screen protector PLEASE let us know.

Whitestone is the best.
I like the Spigen NeoFlex, it's been great so far for me. Went on easily, hasn't peeled off the corners/edge (and I use the Spigen Tough Armor case) and after the 12 hours to settle on the screen it looks great and writing on it with the s-pen feels good too. My personal opinion and the only one I've tried so far on my Note 8

Can the Whiitestone be removed once it's been glued to the Screen?
yes
I got the Bodyguardz glass protector sold to me at the AT&T store (lazy me). The guy installed it and it's ok. Glass protectors have an innate problem in that they sometimes don't transmit touches to the touchscreen itself. This one is no different but it does fit well. And it has a lifetime free replacement policy. I'll keep it to protect my screen.
