Wakelock problem - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

I've been running Naked Touchwiz for a long time with no problems. Now my battery drain has become ridiculous. This is my wakelock info which seems awful but I don't really understand it. Any ideas/suggestions?

How long have you had the rom? If you recently flashed then you need to let it sit for a day for the rom to settle. Learned that with the Dynamic Kat ROM.
If not, open the battery graph and check your wake time vs screen on time. A friend of mine had this issue on his S4 a while back. Clearing the cache and rebooting the phone worked for me. Worst case is you reflash the ROM.

That really sounds like a bit of voodoo. A ROM doesn't need to "settle" with regard to power usage.
Hey, that's what I was told in the DK thread, they said to let the rom settle for a couple of days. The first day I flashed the rom I was getting 4 hours of screen on time, three days later I started getting 6 hours of s.o.t. They had an explanation as to why this occurs but I forget what they said.
If you don't trust that, try recalibrating the rom by downloading an app that deletes the battery stats file.
Sent from my SM-N900A using XDA Free mobile app
I have heard that ROMs need time to settle many times. That is a myth. Resetting battery stats does nothing except erase battery stats. There is no calibration.
On your battery settings click on the graph this time. See how your network connection is. Could be an issue where you lose your connection and the phone consumes the battery searching for a network connection.
Also did you add anything new lately like an app or an email account?

Something's running keeping your phone awake. Try Wakelock detector to track that down. Also try the carrier iq thread idk what it does seems it fixed stuff for people and made their phone sleep better. Most of the time it's an app. I dont use greenify but people use it to hibernate user apps that run in background.

I've had the rom for months with no issues. All of a sudden battery drain. It was a Google service of some sort. I flashed firenote mj5 and the battery life is way better.

Battery getting worse.

I feel like my battery keeps getting worse and worse. Used to last me a day and a half and now only about a day.

Hey mate, sorry to hear you are getting worse battery life. Are you using anything from your normal? Check out my guide and see if anything helps. Below are my stats currently. I can only see you still have your alarm on, this can cause a slight lose.
Mine hasn't ever lasted as long as your day and a half, maybe it is just leveling out? A few days ago I recalibrated my battery, maybe that would help?

Try shutting it off ( hold the off button on right side) the turning it back on . Reboot, I had an unexplained battery issue and this fixed it, I can get 3-4 days now.
Any update @gainstatom?

My battery is either good or bad. Right now it's fine and going good. But sometimes I think something makes my battery worse. I will keep updating with screenshot. I think 8% for only minute on screen time is not that good.

Yeah that's great! You can install better battery stats here on xda to see if you are getting any wake locks etc. Greenify plus xposed will do this also, but bbs has more info

I had a battery problem similar to yours not long ago. One of the things that was running it down was in Settings> Wi-Fi> Always allow scanning. The phone would scan for Wi-Fi signal even when Wi-Fi was turned off. Unchecking that box helped a lot.
I also used a battery calibration app that clears the battery stats and that has pretty well fixed the problem.

What could be killing my battery so quickly?

It seems that Android System uses a really high amount of battery, and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas, or would know how to find out.
My battery lasts around 5 hours anymore, doing the same thing I used to do when it lasted 17+.
Any help would be super appreciated.

Why are you on JB? What setup are you using? Also, a screen shot from Wakelock detector would be appreciated.
I'm rooted stock 4.3. I just didn't really like the update from it, so I went back to 4.3.
I was fine til about a week ago.

More screenshots pl0x.
EDIT: Wakelock detector, and more GSam perspectives would be nice.
There seems to be no out of the ordinary wakelock events, but I will supply a GSam when I can.

I noticed that on 4.3, yeah, the phone radio was the biggest consumer of battery, butconsidering your usage, perhaps screen usage should be greater. Regardless, you're getting 4SOT/23.5SBY which is far better than I'm getting (2.5/14) on KK. lol
If you think about it, if nothing is waking your device, the phone radio is the only thing using power during sleep. So I guess it makes sense.
How about this? Supposing it has to do with the end of charge mechanic of the cpu, but it's worth a check.
Perhaps the battery is just going bad, after a year?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
Any other ways I could see what's causing such a drain on the battery? I fear pretty soon keeping it plugged in won't even give it charge enough to stay on.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
Or maybe something about this may help figure it out? I put it in Airplane Mode while charging and it didn't seem to make a difference in the rate at which it charged.
Could that possibly narrow down the cause?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
I just picked up the phone and started using it to read my Blinkfeed, and the battery suddenly dropped by a percent or two before it began charging again.
It's acting so strange.

That google play services drain though... Try installing the Amplify module for Xposed.
I supose reflash soft, then freeze google services in tb, and unfreeze omly when they are needed. Maybe it will help

Well that's a bit extreme. You need Google Services for a lot of things, and that app is central to the android experience.
That's not to mention all the FCs he could get.
I find the phone stutters quite a bit too. Like freezes for a few seconds then carries on with what I'm doing.

Anyone think of any way I could go about diagnosing what the issue is?

tbh it's hard to tell. I would say do a TI backup and flash something fresh. If you like JB, I think viper 3.5 is good for you.
You could also try calibrating your battery. I did it, and it seems to have had, at the very least, a slight placebo effect .

What are in the stock updates?

Does anyone know what has been fixed or updated from the original android 5.0 LNX build to the upgraded 5.0 build then from 5.0 to 5.0.1? I couldn't find a change log from google or fixes or anything for that matter
Thank you

Battery life is subjected to how you use your phone. Minimize your wake locks and ensure your phone is deep sleeping.
Battery life is hardly affected by a ota unless there was a crucial error on Google part causing wakelock which Google play services is the main culprit.

How to I ensure the phone goes into deep sleep when the screen is off?

make sure that you install apps that dont keep your phone awake.
Don't think I have any. Simms I'm still trying to kill my battery, but trying to not go crazy. I've noticed chrome is quite battery consuming...
Utorrent as well, but I expect that from a p2p client

Sharp battery drops. Problem with device, rom or battery?

I regularly have scenarios like this.
- phone is at 27% battery
- few minutes later it beeps and shows 14%
- 30 seconds later - 5%
- few more seconds and it shuts down.
I don't run anything special and through the day it lowers steady (although 100 to 27 in 12 hours is not that great).
I run official 5.0.1 rom and never unlocked bootloader.
So is it a problem with a phone, the battery or just OS that sucks?
Anyone else having the issue?
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
Most likely it's the battery. Have you looked to see what is using the battery in settings?

Nothing unusual running. I think Android OS was main battery user, may be with hour and half of screen time.
In this specific instance I was running Toyota app while driving.
But similar things happened before without those factors. And mostly it worked ok in the car as well.

I took it off charger at 7am and drops started around 6pm. It was going down evenly during this time.

Sorry I forgot that was in your OP. Did you look at the battery to see if it was hot or bulging even slightly? Personally for the $15 it takes to get a new battery, I would. Worst case scenario is you end up with a spare. I don't know how old your device (and this your battery) is, but it's not uncommon after 9+ months for them to start dying.
Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
Yes, it probably makes sense to get new battery. I got the phone last November or December but problem started early summer. Seems pretty short time for battery to go bad.
Thank you

It's not unheard of by any stretch. Heat will kill them fast as well. Does the phone ever get hot?
Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
I haven't noticed it being hotter than other phones I used. Yet I carry it in external pouch so would not always feel it.
It definitely wasn't hot when battery was dropping.
More over, last time I turned it off for 3 hours at 14% and when turned it on, drop just continued and it was 5% in 30 seconds.

I got not only a new battery but a new phone and have been experiencing a similar problem. Seriously might just jump ship to the N5. Any suggestions on what else to try? I really don't want to shell out $20 for yet another battery if it's not guaranteed to fix anything. I'm running PopRocks v14 with the stock kernel. Any suggestions?
I had the exact same issue. It was from letting the battery die too often. A new battery fixed the issue 100%
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
That's true. Running it down to 1% all the time definitely shortens the life. I'll try to find the article I read that interviewed battery scientists.
