Moto X Dev Edition GSM - XT1053
Bootloader Unlocked and Rooted
TWRP installed but no recover image :crying:
I took the OTA 4.4.2 update via OTA and now am stuck in bootloop.
What are my best options to solve this.
I have pictures and videos i am worried about deleting.
thanks in advance for any help
Send it in for Warranty. Really. Or...you have a NAND flasher then just write Zeroes and use the SBF to create a new .bin

Really?
I was hoping i could use the Motorola Factory Image flash
Or worse case use the Android Factory restore but was worried that would delete video
I contacted Moto Help and they advised to do a partition wipe cache and factory data reset
You can re-flash the rom using rsdlite. The stock rom can be downloaded via Motorola.com. If you use rsd with twrp recovery, you do have to make a tiny tweak (i.e. delete getvar line) to the downloaded rom file. This flashing process can also be done via adb or via the motoxtoolkit without the tweak but this method requires all files to be flashed one at a time which is more time consuming. If any of this seems Greek you, you can Google it or pm me and I can help you. it is very simple to do and there are lots of guides online. I used a youtube video that showed me where to delete the getVar line. this method does not delete the files on the device.

Or grab the official 4.4.2, extract the system.img, and flash it with fastboot.
ok, what happened:
I were on 4.4.4 stock kitkat rom with root. i wanted to update to 5.0 lollipop and i used the moto x 2014 multitool package. i pressed 6 for sideloading 5.0 update.zip every operation turned out successful. and i pressed reboot device when it was done. but my phone wouldn't turn on. i have tried turning it on into bootloader, but then the green light lights up and the two IR led's on the right side light up. i would really appreciate some help!

Thankyou for answering.
my computer detects it as QHSUSB_BULK. And yes, i downgraded it from 5.1 to 4.4.4 by flashing stock firmware.
You will have to send it to motorola for repair, there is no way for you to fix it yourself.
The problem is you downgraded your phone, after a downgrade you cannot take an OTA ever or it will brick.

Did your phone have stock 5.0 or 5.1 before you installed CM? If so, then yes you did downgrade when you went to 4.4.4 which is why it is now bricked. That message that says QHSUSB_BULK means you are bricked, you will have to send it to motorola.

and will this work?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdrdWqaXUBE
Nope. That tutorial won't work.
To unbrick the Moto X 2014 we need the blankflash files, but Motorola didn't release it yet.
If you send it to repair they will replace the MB.

Not, at least until Motorola release the files we need.
You can post in motorolaforums and ask for the files in this thread https://forums.motorola.com/posts/b6cb5537f5

jig is for samsung phones to get into downloader mode. We have fastboot, not the same system. So no it will not work.
We have the tools we need, the problem is we don't have the signed files from motorola that are needed to flash. So until those files are leaked, you have no choice but to send it to motorola for the repair.

The 4.4 bootloader is fine with every rom out there. I wouldn't take the OTA since you are unlocked bootloader just flash the stock roms via twrp on the android develop section there is one for 4.4, 5.0, and 5.1. its the best way to not risk hard bricks. I have switched back and forth several times going this route. AGISCI posted them.
I also just got an xt1095, is this the latest ROM http://www.filefactory.com/file/5d66szhobgmx/VICTARA_TMO_XT1095_5.1_LPE23.32-21.6_cid9_CFC.xml.zip ?
Also, I have unlocked my bootloader but didn't root yet (this is with 4.4.4 installed). If i simply DL this image and flash it using TWRP (which i have installed) will it overwrite TWRP or break it in any way? Can I then simply root via TWRP ( assuming it is ok) and boom have a fully rooted Lollipop phone ?

You can't flash firmware files with TWRP, it won't work.
You have to flash it with RSDLite or fastboot.
As far as if it overwrites TWRP. If you use RSDLite, yes it will erase TWRP and replace it with the stock recovery. If you use fastboot to flash just skip the recovery image when you are flashing.

Because the firmware files are just standard images which get flashed and overwrite the partitions. The zips you run in TWRP are instructions on what to do and install. They are completely different things/formats.

How to root Moto X 2014 on Android Marshmallow (XT1092 / XT1095 / XT1097)
Need Bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed.
1- Connect Moto X to the computer with a USB cable.
2- Copy the UPDATE-SuperSU-2.76.zip file and the attachment zip (according to the version of your device) to phone memory .
3- Reboot in Fastboot, go to Recovery and acess the TWRP.
4- Install the two zips and reboot.
Your Moto X 2014 running Android Marshmallow 6.0 should have been rooted successfully.

If your bootloader is unlocked, couldn't you just flash SuperSU 2.52 beta to obtain root? That's all I had to do on any M ROM, I'm genuinely just curious if there is a reason to not use the SuperSU beta.

In official Marshmallow, if only install SuperSU 2.52 without Custom Kernel, the phone is locked in the boot screen and does not start. The same happens with the Nexus phones.

EDIT:
Can you add this file to the zip for those that use linux distros instead windows?
Just add "Run.sh" to the zip, with this code inside:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
sudo fastboot flash boot victara-24.11.18-retbr-boot-root.img
sudo fastboot reboot-bootloader

If you are on 5.1, there is no way to do it.
If you are on 4.4.4 or 5.0, you can use kingroot or mofo to get root, then with root you can use sunshine to unlock the bootloader.

Please help, my moto x 2014 wont boot what so ever. This first started from when I tried to root my XT1097 on android 5.1 using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...e-edition-superboot-style-root-motox-t2889264 not realizing it wasn't for android 5.1. Then it was acting weird so I booted into fastboot and used a factory image which was for AT&T devices. Realizing this was the wrong image (No service or wifi what so ever) I flashed the proper image to return to stock, but now my device simply sits at the M logo and wont boot. Any help to get this device back up and running is appreciated!

If it is sticking at the M, its failing to boot Android at all. Does it roll into recovery automatically? Which firmware did you flash? Also, was the version flashed older than the one you previously had?

Yeah, that's where I figured it was hanging. All signs just point to a bad flash/firmware. I'd try downloading a different version (even 5.1 since you're unlocked) or verifying the hash on the firmware you flashed. You can use HashMyFiles to check the md5 or SHA hashes.
