microphone drop on calls - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone
I got issues with my beloved z3c on calls. After the phone goes black after putting it to my ear my phone will drop the microphone at some point. about two to three minutes into the call. When I take the phone off my ear and unlock it the microphone is fine again.
Anyone else having these issues? I dont use a case. But I have a sheet on my display. I have stamina mode turned on. The phone is rooted.

Only through speakerphone

On my tilt i have a slight problem. When i place or recieve a phone call, i cant hear them regularly. I must put my phone on speakerphone to hear them. I dont have a back for my phone, but i dont think thats the problem. Any suggestions?
try this; once in a call turn the dial on the left hand side of the handset all the way up to make sure the volume of the speaker is at full. similarly if you touch the speaker icon on the top toolbar, two volume sliders appear. make sure these are both at 100%
I am having these same issues too. I have tried what u suggested and still not working. The phone was working fine but no longer. did a hard reset and still not working. If it means anything, I recently replaced the housing to the phone, but even then after replacing the housing, the internal speaker still worked and I could hear through it but now I have to take calls through the speakerphone. Anyone have any suggestions?

Proximity sensor

Hi all.
I was wondering what the sensor is for.
Shouldn't it prevent the screen to turn off during phone calls ? If this is the case, mine is defective.
Thanks for the help
It should, do you have any problems when the display is on while you talk? Stuff like randomnly calling other people, turn on mute, hang calls, etc. If this happens then it's obviously defective and you should ask for a replacement
It should turn off the screen when you place your phone to your ear to prevent accidental phone call disconnect if you press end call touch button.
I.e., iPhone4 out of the box when was released was notorious to proximity sensor issues, it was a software bug on behalf of Apple.
I've noticed mine isn't as sensitive as my hd2, but then again, I haven't hung up on anybody yet either....

Microphone and screen-on issues

Hi all,
I've come across a couple of problems with the phone that I've put down to manufacturing, but I'm not really seeing anyone else complain about them. I'd just like to see if anyone else is experiencing these issues or if I should have my phone replaced under warranty.
Issue 1: Microphone.
During a call, people can hear me clearly, but if I switch to speakerphone (or use an app like Skype or Viber, which usesspeakerphone for video calls), they have trouble hearing me. I know there is an issue where the mic stops working for some people, but mine is still working...only I sound very faint to the other person. If I bring my face right up to the phone and speak, they can hear me somewhat clearly, but it defeats the purpose holding it to my face when I'm in a video call.
Issue 2: Screen touches during a call.
I've noticed that when in a regular call, the screen turns off when I bring the phone to my face, and turns back on as I pull the phone away, which is fine. The problem is though, that while the screen is off and pressed to my ear, shortly after the light of the screen turns back on and it seems I've been pressing things with my ear, e.g. pulled down the notification shade, opened an app on my home screen or opened my app drawer, etc. Is anyone else noticing the screen turning back on mid-call? Or does anyone know if the screen still responds to touches even though the backlighting is off? Or is this an iPhone 4-esque situation where I'm "holding it wrong"?
Thanks guys
I take it the lack of responses means that no one else is experiencing the issue and that I should swap it under Warranty :/

Never faced any of such issues with my nexus. You should go for a replacement

Screen stays on when I put phone to ear - help?

when i answer or send a call and put my stock Gnote3 to my ear, the screen doesn't turn off. then my ear plays with the screen, touching buttons and sometimes hangs up on the caller. anyone know what i can do to fix this?
thanks in advance
Settings > Device > Call then make sure Turn off screen during calls is checked.
thanks for the reply...where's the Thanks button?
it was checked, so i unchecked it and rebooted phone. then went and re-checked it. it still won't always turn off when i put it to my ear
I seen this thread, Proximity sensor issue and solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568003
looks like i need to be rooted for that thread to work for me.?.
Yes
Blow on the speaker above the Samsung logo. The proximity sensor is under the shiny metal part. There might be dust blocking it. Hope that helps

My note is about 16 months old now and this is just the norm now. I have blown through the speaker with canned air, it fixes it for a day or too. Then the proximity sensor gets blocked and does it again. It just gets worse and worse I don't even bother anymore. I just turn it off with the power button when I am talking.
just tried the canned air, hope it helps! thanks fellas

phone answering behavior when locked?

I've got a set of level u Pro Bluetooth headphones that I love and one feature I love is when separating the magnetic rear pieces when a phone call is incoming it answers it fit me immediately... The problem I've got is that if the phone is in my pocket the phone app appears on the screen(full screen) and then my leg contacting it "presses buttons" and will do stuff like hang up or disconnect the Bluetooth.
How can I answer the phone with my headphones but have the phone app respect the locked screen state and allow it to be kept in my pocket?
