Hello, I'm happy owner of Lumia 930 with Windows 8.1 .. Is there any way to get more resolution options under camera settings? There is only 5MP / 5MP + 16MP and 16MP DMG .. I know what you will say but I need anything above 5MP for example 8MP or 10 or 12 is there any app that will let me do that? or any registry tweak? Thank you. Downsampled 5MP is good but 8 or 10 would be even better.

So I was thinking about something lately. We have that 13Mp camera (Nothing super in terms of the quality) But what does the phone or lens when you put in on like 8Mp. Is it that it makes a 13Mp and crop it? Or can it be used to use multiple pixels as one? Or does it just shutdown those?
Question that I have for some time now
it's image sensor
the quality of photo depends upon image sensor the bigger the image sensor the better photo u will get:laugh:

It uses 8 Mp of these 13 Mp, which produces a smaller image size. Use all 13 Mp and then resize it manually to the required size. For best image quality do this on a PC.
which is better? 12mp or 20mp in camera resolution? 20mp has no zoom but i dont use zoom anyway. i know the native camera resolution is 12mp, but why is there a 20mp selectable? 20mp is the monochrome sensor right? comparing both shots both look the same except the resolution of the image. thanks :fingers-crossed:
Stick to 12MP - native resolution of the color sensor.
Hello

I never saw such a bad quality on P20 Pro. If you really want to take 40mpx photos, you should use Pro mode anyway, and change the focus area to wide to capture a detailed photo, otherwise by default(in any mode) the focus point is in the center, looking for a person/object. But even with default it should be a lot more clear. Be sure to update your phone using HiSuite for PC and reset the camera app. Best pictures are at 10mpx because it captures more light and they are downsampled from 40mpx. Also,at 40mpx it only uses the 40mpx RGB camera. Use photo mode for normal pictures, night mode for low light if you don't enable master AI,and Pro mode for more control. Be sure to understand all the settings, especially focus modes. Your picture was in a low light environment, you should have sticked to 10mpx,or Pro mode(but at 40mpx some settings are not there because like I said,it does not use all the cameras)

HiSuite say im using newest official update clt-l29 9.0.0236 (C432E5R1P9)(official version)
i made hard reset and roll back to 8.0 and didint help , also cleared cache/app date
can someone put photo from p20 pro in similar conditions ?
The 40MPix mode is amazing if you want to a) capture most of details and b) if you want to play with photo in Snapseed or PSe for example. I use is because it doesn't do HDR, that CAN be too aggressive when 10mpix is enabled. Can you share this photo somewhere else, because zippy share is overflow with advertisment.
Jpeg from raw
For example - jpeg made from raw in pro mode, edited in lightroom mobile.
EDIT: ooops, xda scrambled quality...
Btw I do not see a problem in your photo. If you zoom 100% of course, the photo will not be sharp nor pleasant to see, but 40MPixs can surely be printed for example on A2 and look gorgeous (in fact, everything >12MPix will). The point is, you took picture against the sun, that means it had to deal with huge amount of direct sunlight, that's probably the reason the grass and mud is so... well... not sharp. It's partly simple optics and party too agressive postprocessing.
Hi guys,
I have just got the phone on Monday and I noticed that default setting for the camera is to take photos in 10 megapixels mode.
Is there any advantage of 10mp over 40mp mode that is available? What are differences?
I personally noticed that 40MP photos are darker and I need to hold my phone more steady than when taking them in 10MP resolution.
I attached 2 identical photos. The darker one is 10MP, the brighter one, little more blurry is 40MP
40MP option does not allow you to zoom. Only 1x

No real benefit. It uses pixel binning to downscale from 40mp to 10mp so essentially they end up the same quality
For quick snap or share I use the default Photo mode with 10 MP. If the photo will be used for web or print - then I use PRO mode + RAW format. RAW image from the main sensor is always is 40 MP - It does not depend on the resolution you choose.
RAW image + Lightroom edit + export is the best option for crisp and great quality photos.

That's true. If you're planning on shooting raw and editing yourself this is an instance where 40mp makes much more sense.
See men basically in well lit condition 10mp will take 9ver exposed pictures and 10 mp is for darker scenarios and 40mps use in day-time
Uooer image shot on 10mp u can see blue floor and red
Picture below is well balanced
I use 40 mp in when there is enough light, i prefer it for the more natural color and because I find 10mp over exposed
And I use 10 mp in low light condition
Hello,
I want to know is there any mod/app etc which can be used to zoom in while taking photos from 108mp camera?
The default Miui camera allows zooming up to 2x in 108 MP mode.
Though bear in mind it's more or less pointless to use zoom in 108 MP mode, since all it does is just crop and upscale the image, you're not getting any improvement in quality.
