Hi
I just bought note 5. It is n920c duos. In about phone, model no is showing N920C.But on box, there is a sticker displaying N920CD model. My question is that wether I can flash international N920c (Single Sim) frimwere on it or not? Also what About updates? Will I be Able to get updates as soon as N920c single sim gets?

Ijaz, can you kindly confirm me if 920CD runs same FDD B20/800 mhz 4g band like single sim (920C)?
thanks!

How to check?
I don't know. Tell me and I'll confirm you @alec66

Try checking this website:
http://www.willmyphonework.net/

it not listed on that site, but on an ebay listing it has
"2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100

I too am interested in this. I'd like to purchase an unlocked Note5 but Dont know which is best for development, I had sm-n910c for a note 4 and that had (what seemed) the most development for the unlocked version. But for note 5 there are even more... 920i, 9208, 920c, 920cd.

Can you give us here the reference of the firmware of your CD? I guess it's easy to check if it is different.

sorry off the topic, hows the battery life of dual sim?

The firmware is absolutely the same. I already flashed my 920cd using UAE 920c firmware. No issues.

Good news. I thought it would be different because of the dual sim management sub-menu. Do you still have this menu?

also, is it possible to specify a primary sim, making sure that all of the outgoing calls will go on it without any other tap on the phone ?

[Q] LT30at doesn't pickup 3G on T-mobile??

I have an Xperia TL I purchased and unlocked, and it works fine making calls on T-mobile, I changed the APN settings so MMS works fine, etc, but I recently noticed that the phone NEVER has 3G, it's always either on Edge or 4G, so do I need to change the baseband to pickup 3G on T-mobile ? I'm guessing maybe AT&T uses different frequencies for their 3G?
Also my wifes LT18i seems to never get 3G after ICS update either. Hers is factory unlocked.
Is it possible to call T-mobile and have them send the correct settings over the network ?
Thanks a bunch for any help!
Flash the European baseband. That enabled the correct frequencies.

So I have a LT30AT from At&t, which firmware I can flash to use it on the tmobile network ? will this "LT30p_9.1.A.0.492_Generic Italy(1265-1589).ftf" work ? Thanks

Sorry for the noob, I've been searching the forum and I assume that just flash the at&t phone with any of the European firmware and I should have the UMTS BC_4 band to work with the 1700 frequency (but without LTE). Is this correct or am I missing anything ? Thanks :fingers-crossed:
Yeah, you should be good to go with any European firmware. As long add it shows band 4 enabled. LTE also works, you just can't access settings from the normal network menu.

So if I started out with the stock ATT, should I flash the European with everything wipe or should I keep the baseband LTE exclude? Thanks

Did you exclude baseband when you flashed? Which UK verison did you flash? I did lt30p 9.1.a1.140 generic uk.

I think I did exclude baseband, been so long, can't remember . I think I got the 9.1.A.1.1.40 for my build
hmmm, interesting. I hope someone else can chime with more info on this
...Or mabye I did a 2nd flash from the European firmware without exclude baseband so I that now I only have H+ showing in my icon (and I'm on ATT network)
Do you still have the LTE bands LTE_BC4 and LTE_BC17?

This is what showing in my working bands:
GSM850,GSM900,GSM1800,GSM1900
UMTS_BC1, UMTS_BC2, UMTS_BC4, UMTS_BC5
LTE_BC2, LTE_BC4, LTE_BC5, LTE_BC17
Phone Software Version:
1262-6309_9.1.A.1.140
GENERIC - user
File System Version:
GLOBAL-HSPA_9.1.A.1.140
So my guess is you can always backup your current firmware and do the flash, see if it working for you, if not go back to whatever you have before and try again...

Note 8 Exynos: do you have the 5 GHz option in the advanced hotspot configuration?

I posted the same question on the S8+ forum:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/s8-exynos-5-ghz-option-hotspot-t3675821
My Exynos S8+ SM-G955F doesn't offer this option for selection, only 2.4 GHz.
I suspect the 5 GHz option for hotspot is only available on the Snapdragon version...

Just curious to know if the situation remains the same also on the Note 8 firmware.

I'm on the Korean Exynos N950N and I have it.
Actually both the posts were useful, so now I know that this option can be available both on Snapdragon and Exynos version.
It looks like that there is no limitation in the Exynos SOC itself, it's apparently a Samsung decision to show or hide this option in the regional firmwares.
Hi guys,
Just found this old thread while searching in Google for a similar question. I have the Note 8 too, Exynos version (SM-N950F) and, as seems by the previous post, Exynos also allows to broadcast the hotspot at 5.0 GHz, so it might be a firmware limitation.
Do you know if there is any specific ROM, CSC, tweak; anything that would give me that option to use the hotspot at 5.0 GHz? I have found this post by @phatWares mentioning a quite old tool by Wanam. Can anybody confirm this still would work? I ask because I'm fully on stock on my Note, so I'd like to have some assurance before tripping Know, flashing ROM, etc.
Thanks in advance for any feedback you can provide.
I had the same question and did some research.
It seems there is a new EU directive that restricts the use of 5ghz frequencies for mobile hotspots and this is why we are running into this issue (has to do with interference with police radars and such).
Logically one way to circumvent this limitation is to change CSC to a country that does not have such limitation.
I am outside the EU and I have a EU phone with British firmware and CSC, I have yet to find a proper CSC to switch to.

Thanks for your reply aljazzair. I'm also outside of the EU and US, but I think my phone is (SM-N950F) is an international unlocked version; I don't know what that is supposed to comply to.
Are you rooted? Have you tried the tool that I've mentioned in my previous post from Wanam? It seems to be a CSC Editor that allows you to enabled the 5.0 GHz option with a checkbox.

Hi,
My phone is not rooted. Like you, I have a SM-N950F (european unlocked).
.
I did change the CSC on my phone successfully once, it was a couple of weeks ago.
.
The reason was that I was on a TUR CSC due to an OTA update whilst in Turkey with a Turkish SIM on a TIM phone which had XFE firmware.
.
I was annoyed by the resulting samsung software notifications in Turkish, which is a language I do not understand, so I wanted them gone.
.
My CSC is now BTU/BTU/TIM.
.
The procedure I used involves using odin to flash what is called a "combination rom".
The combination rom essentially replaces the stock rom with samsung software used by samsung support engineering staff for diagnosis and repair.
.
It is critical to only flash a combination ROM that is compatible with your bootloader version.
.
I had the DSG1 stock ROM with the latest bootloader when I flashed the combination ROM, so the version I used is:
.
COMBINATION_FA71_N950FXXU7ASG1_CL12991683_QB24738638_REV00_user_mid_noship.tar.md5
.
There is a seemingly cumbersome procedure to follow involving Odin, several factory resets and reflashing multiple times, and it worked flawlessly for me.
It is described here:
.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74324845&postcount=87
.
I would re-use this procedure again without hesitation.
.
But I have yet to find a CSC code that would allow 5ghz hotspot capabilities (so non-EU) whilst retaining Samsung Pay and avoiding software notifications in a language I do not understand
.
If you know of such a CSC code, pls share
Perhaps somebody that tried that Wanam application to edit the CSC could confirm? That might be worth rooting for

Wow what a strange phone indeed:
https://whatismyphone.com/vendors/docomo/galaxy-note-9-sc-01l
its a snapdragon. SO no idea if its anything like the n9600 or the american n960u
in both cases, i dont think you will be able to simply flash with odin any other csc firmware.
if you can root it(if it is like the n9600) then you could probably get the csc file on there manually. thats whay i do with my korean N960n , i put canadian carrier files on it manualy.
anyways good luck! (you'll be needing it..lol)

No, it doesn't work.
I've tried to flash US unbranded N960U1 (XAA) firmware on my SC-01L (Docomo) using modded/patched Odin and It will just fail.
However, I did manage to flash SCV40 (AU KDDI) firmware on my SC-01L (Docomo) without any issues. It's less bloatware compared to Docomo's Firmware maybe?
No issues with the modem, can make calls and SMS. APN auto-detected and able to use NFC.
Hope this helps!

On your screen from your first screenshot scroll down a bit and you'll should see the 3 csc/csc/csc code. Eg XAA/XAA/SPR....
Assuming you have an international sim card in phone:
The last csc code in that group is the phone's Carrier (like AT&T, T-mobile and Sprint).
Then go to Sammobile.com/firmware and look for:
SM-N950U
(Your CSC code)
Read this thread if you want to change your sm-n950u to sm-n950u1:

SM-N950U IS Carrier phone
SM-N950U1 IS Non-carrier phone (So less bloatware)

What model does the "General " tab say?
SM-N950U
OR
SM-N9500
???
Bit confused about your phone info screen.
This is mine: (my phone is SM-N950F and I'm in Canada on a Canadian carrier.)
But the country origin says UK/GB XEU
Your country of origin is Hong Kong and model SM-N950U!
Shouldn't your model be SM-N9500?
Can you get into download mode and see your model or recovery mode? If you get anything other then English language let us know.
My General screen:
On the "Hardware" tab make sure it says Qualcomm 835 not anything else like Mediatek...

SM-N950U. I assure you there's no service provider sw version section on software information and there's no model on download mode. That's what I'm confused about.
You mean language setting? If so, I can change any language I want, not only English options

Which one?
What's the best unlocked ROM so far?
Panama, Ecuador, Paraguay, Bolivia, Trinidad and Togabo, Colombia, Chile, Brazil, Peru and "UNKNOWN".
Any reason to prefer any specific region?
it is too late
when android 10 will be released for SM-N9600 Hong Kong version !
I have one of these TGY (from Hongkong) N9600 devices... It is still stuck on the Dec security patch, NOT sure if Android 10 will ever make it. All updates so far have been slow.
I use the device mainly because I need to maintain 2 different phone numbers, so the dual-sim helps. But using it on AT&T postpaid, the service sucks... NOT to hijack this thread but I can't seem to pull anything above 25MBPS or push above 2MBPS, NO matter where I am. My wife's iPhone is easily able to download at 100+MBPS. May be it is time to jump over to the dark side (?)
how root n9600 android Q?

Yeah, got the update but the battery life sucks now... I wonder if changing the CSC would help with the problems I reported above...
BTW, the internal memory on my Note-9 is encrypted... After the android 10 update, the start-up screen is in Chinese. Anyone else seeing this? How do I change this to English? After entering my pin & successfully booting up, everything else is in English as expected. So it is just the start-up screen...
Help appreciated. Thanks
