Hi, I am in Australia and have just purchased a Moto X via ebay. Maybe that was not a good idea
When attempting to call someone on my contact list, the phone automatically places a +1 in front of the number which then apparently tells my provider I am trying to make an overseas call. I am in fact, calling locally. The phone is seemingly doing the wrong thing.
I assume that there is a setting that tells the phone in which country it is set for - in this case, it seems to be the USA - +1 is the USA prefix and the phone always wants to call the USA.
Can anyone assist please by advising as to how I can remove this setting in the phone so it will not automatically want to place the +1 in front of the local number?
Thanking you in advance
Charles
Hey, please add your model number and your exact android version in your post. This will help to figure out, how to solve the problem. Also maybe add information about how you save your numbers, like: 073883XXXX or +49163738XXX
Saving your numbers with countrycode e.g. might help.

Thank you so much for your response. The seller has come back to me finally and advised me how to go about it - step by step. Now all good. Had to change the default country - was listed as the USA
Cheers & many thanks

Hey guys I already got as far as getting the MSL from both phones (the phone I am using from Boost Mobile is the Incognito). I have the MEID and the ESN for the Hero and I already flipped it but now I am stumped, what should I do now? I cannot find the MEID or the ESN through QXDM, I try all of these on this guide and they all come up with none of my numbers:

Now I sent a message to the person who provided me with the guide(who is on this forums by the way) and I am just getting a tad bit antsy so I wanted to see if I could gain some help from anyone here. Oh by the way I could not get the MSL from the Incognito through USB Debug mode, I didn't get that to work so I just asked Boost Mobile for the MSL, and I am sorry if there is no discussion of ESN cloning on here, please lock if I didn't follow the rules or move if it is misplaced.
Yeah, not allowed to really help with ESN cloning since it's only slightly less illegal then murder.

I thought so. Do you know where I could obtain help for this? Please lock.
Why not call Boost and just say you want to do an 'ESN swap', ie, change your handset while retaining your phone number and legitimate account with them? That is, I assume you're talking about using your own account and handsets and not someone else's? If you're planning to hi-jack someone's else's account / handset ESN | MEID - well, then please just die.
Hi there sorry to intrude but I have a current boost account and also a Sprint account and I'm trying to activate my old HTC hero on boost cdma, and when I call they are saying its a Sprint phone and that we can't activate it. Any input for me. Please.

So you're saying you have an active Sprint account, and an active Boost Mobile account, and you'd like to use your Heroc on Boost, and something else on Sprint? More detail please.

I have found that every phone has the numbers stored at different addresses.
The best way to find the address locations is to use CDMA Workshop to save the readable memory locations and then use HxD to search the output for your inverted numbers.
ive been at it for awhile now and ive done all evo's al samsungs and a bunch of others but i can find the readable ranges for the HTC HERO please advise thanks

I am using the new Android version of Line2, the VoIP product for making calls over a Wifi connection from Toktumi. It was released yesterday. I have Attn1's Froyo 2.2 FR008 with a rooted Aria.
The Aria is not specifically supported. However, the sound is good on my end but some people I called noted static.
Once the program is started, it runs in the background and you cannot "exit" the application short of force closing it. (The "menu" button which in many apps points to an "exit" function, does not provide one). Not a big deal.
If you have WiFI access and need to cut back on your phone minutes, it might be worth trying for about $10 a month.
Can you please upload the apk!

The Line2 app is available in the Android Market: search for "Line2" or available to download here: http://www.line2.com/download_android.html
Thanks!
Thanks for starting this thread! I'm the developer of the Line2 for Android and would love to hear feedback good or bad.
As for which phones are supported, we were very conservative with our list to include phones we've tested heavily. We have other phones that work well but haven't received the amount of testing we like.
One particular reason we're hesitant to just certify all phones is that we have found some hardware related issues on some devices such as the Evo.

I can't post the link b/c I am a new member but if you search the market for Line2, it is free
I got a Pixel Qi 3G Adam tablet from Notion Ink a few weeks back and am unable to get Line2 to work over the 3G connection. It appears that 3G VoIP options are disabled by default and the Dialing tab appears to be missing. Wi-Fi calling works, and I can sign into my account over 3G, but I can not make or receive 3G calls. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I am using a G2 on T-Mobile and have experienced the exact same issue... no 3G/Cellular calling. I too am missing the Dialing tab in the settings so there is no way to tell Line2 to make or receive call. I have been around and around with Customer care but to no avail.

If you want to return the original IMEI then you must do this before reading the manual.
You must have root on your device to continue this manual.
MOD EDIT: Removed
This manual does not show how to change IMEI!
It is only shows how to return the factory default IMEI on Samsung.
Tested and works on the following devices:
Samsung GT-I9000
Samsung GT-I9001
Samsung GT-I9003
Samsung GT-I9100
Samsung GT-I9103
Samsung GT-I9220
Samsung GT-N7000
Samsung GT-P1000
Samsung GT-P6200
Samsung GT-P6800
Samsung GT-P7500
Samsung GT-P7510

This is a factory default IMEI on Samsung GSM\3G module.
I thought every device has a specific IMEI
Better way would be to backup your /efs folder WITH the right permissions, then restore them back.
Anonymous, are you joking? because this is the better way to be blacklisted by your provider and samsung won't help you. ..

Provider can only block you number or IMEI. In my country IMEI 004999010640000 works fine on 2 big providers and there is no blacklist. In many European and Asian countries (like Russia and China) is no IMEI blacklist at all.
Just do a Quick search in the forum and you Will understand

If you dont need to reset default IMEI just do not pay attention to this topic.
problem with saying "default IMEI" is that most would read that to mean the original that their phone came with. You should really amend your first post to warn that this will set some "generic" IMEI and may be illegal or at least invalid for use in countries where the carriers are may block an IMEI. This would be true for the UK and probably many other countries as there is a requirement for carriers to block handsets that are reported stolen.
As already mentioned, best to backup your /efs and save it onto your SD and PC so that it can be restored should you need it.

Oh dear, this makes absolutely no sense! The IMEI is the unique identifier of the phone, and it has to be unique in an network of a mobile phone operator! This means: As soon as more than one user follows your hint, the phones will not work any more!
The guide is a direct way to brick your phone! Don't use it!

Who tell you this bull****? Thousands of people in China, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine use the same IMEI like 135790246811220 (on some china phones) and did not block anyone so far.

Do you even read the red text in the beginning of the thread? Or you just need to speak out nonsense?
what is a non sense is to not explain on the 1st post to don't do that in the major countries (it is prohibited in most countries, this IMEI number is nothing in most countries, this IMEI number will be blacklisted in many countries, Samsung will refuse to honor the guarantee ...)

Yes, and thousands of people in China, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine are posting in threads like "Help! My IMEI is 135790246811220 and the phone does'nt work!". There is a special website only dealing with IMEI 135790246811220 and how to workaround the problem (BTW, the solution is: Throw away the phone).
Anyway: Why the hell should I go for a default IMEI?
You guys are being curbside techs.... listen this is a generic imei Samsung uses for all their radios and devices before they started doing indevidual imei for devices. It is not illegal it is your device do what you want with it. Leave it to the user to figure out their laws. When was the last time a imei was used to catch a fraudster? Cell tower triangulation is how we do it.

The debate is unnecessary because the method SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK. It may or may not work if certain further steps are performed (e.g. manipulation of md5 checksum and backup files). But the simple replacement of nv_data.bin does not change the IMEI. At least not on my phone.

And why does not work for me? I replaced the file (verified by checking the date). Following the reboot, the IMEI was the same. I think a md5 check failed and a backup was installed or something like that.

OP, it is not a good idea to ask someone on the Internet to input a code for you. What are you going to do if the person simply steals the code? In additional, you will also need to give the person the password to your Gmail account. It is safer to find someone traceable to input the code for you. Unless if you are living in North Korea, there is likely someone around you who knows someone in America. Ask that person for help instead. That way at least you will know his real name.

Hey Folks:
Quick tips: ACT SOON
If you purchased your S21 series phone on the Verizon website during the pre-order period of 1/14-1/28, you are eligible for a gift card and smart tag promo on the Samsung website. The value depends on the model
If you call Verizon about it - YOU WILL WASTE YOUR TIME BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW THE DETAILS.
Call the Samsung Promotions number: 1-800-726-7864. Having a Samsung account is necessary too
You will need your receipt or the ability to take a picture of it. you will also need to reference your IMEI Number
I had a woman walk me thru it using the Shop Samsung ans Smart Tutor apps by Samsung.
This promotion expires on 2/28/21 So you'd better act soon
Good luck!
Did your phone register successfully for the pre-order offer? Mine won't register for the offer in the Samsung Shop app. Anything special you did?

Thanks for the heads up. I needed to register two devices, and the app acts like it will allow this but it doesn't work. Called the 800# and they had me uninstall then reinstall the app to perform the 2nd registration.
