Hi all...
I was wondering if anyone knew the current process for getting a Moto X replacement under accidental damage (water damage) given that the 2014 version isn't being sold/made anymore. My assumption is that it would be a refurb, but I want to weigh my options because I'm looking to get the Nexus 5x when it comes out.

Greetings form Greece,
Need your help
After several weeks of waiting my moto X came today form US. Was so happy to have such a unique custom device!!
Once i got it from my US based friend I entred my local carrier shop to get a nano-sim, opened the box and inserted the sim to get moto X woriking.
Seconds after I left the shop the phone accidentaly fell to the pavement. I saw two small dents in the side corners and got really sad I did this to my new device.
However soon i realized that the problem was much bigger. My screen went totaly black!
There is no sign of damage or anything, just a small dent in the plastic bezel.
I am sure the phone is working, I hear sounds of booting and shutting down and I feel vibrations from the the digitizer touch.
The screen shows only some green pixels on the botom right corner.
I am really sad
Do i need a new screen or it is smth with a cable connection?
Is it reasonable for the device to be ruined form a 2 feet drop?
I am will not find any spare parts in Greece/Europe. Shall I send to my local Motorola service repair to check?
Any other memeber with similar issues.?
Please help!
go to motorola tech service, is the only solution, you need a new screen, or a new phone
Well, I feel bad for you, but you need to change either the screen or the entire phone.

I dropped my moto twice and screen is fine
I went today to the Greek local moto repair center,
First time they saw such device, they thought it is moto G.
Awaiting a call if it is a full LCD or a cable maybe. they have no idea if Motorola will provide parts.
If it is a full LCD, how easy is for me to find the part?
I have seen some lcd parts quoting around $250, (nearly the price of the device).
It is a lovely phone, in case i don't find a solution in my country shalll i try to send it to US for repair?
is anybody willing to order and send me overseas a new?
local moto cannot do anything due to lack of spare parts.
any ideas where to get an or original screen?

spoke with them, they need to mail the phone to them, they cannot repair customized devices just issue something like a refund
Hey I have a quick question! If I break my Stock white VZW screen will they send me a new white one or just give me credit for a Moto maker one?
Sent from my XT1060
I don't think they'll do either. You'll have to send it in for repair, and most likely, pay for it.

This was from a recent chat with Motorola, I doubt it's true though lol. But you should check the warranty Terms and conditions to be sure. I wouldn't dismiss it unless you find proof it's not true and also don't count on it!
Ester: Actually, Ivan, the customized Moto X that you have right now has a better warranty than the black/white Developer Editions.
Ivan Perez: I places my order number above, and really? can you explain why please?
Ester: Because if something happens to your phone or your phone gets broken, regardless if its physical or liquid damage, since it is a customized Moto X, we will replace your phone free of charge.
Ester: This covers your phone for 1 year.
Ester: While for developer's edition, if something happens to your phone, we can only offer repair for your phone. And if there is physical or liquid damage, it will void the warranty so you have to pay for the repair.
Ivan Perez: So you mean my phone is covered by all accidents, like if it drops in water or cracked screen I can just contact Motorola and get a replacement?
Ester: Yes, as long as it is within the 1 year warranty period. Sounds great, doesn't it?
Ester: Because here in Motorola, we want to keep our customers happy.

Moto replacing my broken screen for free!
Isn't that because of the extra MotoWarranty that was an option? Or is this truly true?
I have a Moto X headed my way very soon. I purchased Moto Care also. Being that this phone is so beautiful and feels so good in the hand, I want to go with no case and wanted some assurance should I drop the device. My question is how does Moto Care work with a customized device. If I were to drop and break my phone, how do they replace it? Do they send me the same customizations I had before? How broken does it need to be for me to use one of my 3 exchanges. If the screen is cracked or the side is bent is that enough to warrant an exchange?
Not sure what warrants a repair but the send you a code to allow you to customize a new one. You can do a different customization style if you want.
All you have to do is tell them you want to use your moto care and they'll send you a code to create another one. You have 2 options on whether not you want to keep your phone until your new 1 arrives or send your defective phone in first until your new one arrives. The first option requires them to use a credit card so that they will put $500 on hold until they receive your defective phone.
I have already had to use one of my exchanges
I had purchased the Moto Turbo (Indian Version XT 1225) for ~USD 650. Recently, in a minor accident it broke. Ouch
>> Visible damage: Top glass seems fine, but the display underneath is cracked, no longer functional (We do not have the free one time screen replacement option that Verizon gives. Plus I did not have any other insurance).
>> Possible invisible damages: Right after the accident, the phone became pretty hot, and it was vibrating every 15 odd seconds for about an hour or so (till it ran out of battery, perhaps). I don't know if the internals suffered from any shock or heat damages.
The authorised service center says the Display unit replacement will cost ~USD 280. Any other possible, though unlikely, damages to the battery/motherboard can be determined only after the display is replaced. I have not been able to find out if display units for the Turbo are available for cheaper from third parties in India, any idea about that?
Now my dilemma. Do I go for the screen replacement for a very expensive ~USD 280. Or do I go in for a cheaper handset. I really liked my Turbo, more than what we have on the market right now, the only two gripes being the camera quality compared to it's peers and the doubtful upgrade to Android M. But it has not had a price reduction, and in the current mobile market, shelling out ~USD 650 for it seems too much.
Thoughts?
I think it's worth fixing.
I broke mine, got the LG G4, got fed up with the LG UI, overheating, lag, bad signal and crap battery so I just sold it and bought brand new Droid Turbo. I'm waiting for it to be shipped since I live in Spain and I had to get it of eBay .
Nothing better on the market atm..
I too am from India and I too broke my turbo screen but fortunately only glass is broken and phone is still usable.
I've not yet looked outside service centre as my phone should be under warranty but also don't want to spend so much just for broken glass. There is no separate glass but need to go for complete screen. I'm going to try local market once I get time to see what are other options before I go to service centre.
