Is there a way to enable the Note 5 to simply unlock by holding your fingerprint on the scanner? I don't feel like it's very convenient to have to push the home or power button, then swiped up to unlock then place you r finger on the scanner. Seems a little inconvenient, no? Doesn't the OP2 simply unlock when you place your finger on the scanner? Is there a setting I'm missing? I'm on Verizon so root/any sort of xposed module hack is out of the question.
Even if I can make it so I don't have to swipe the unlock icon up. It would be so much better if I could just press the home button then continue to hold my finger on the button to unlock. Noe of this swipe up garbage.
Do you have a note 5?

This guy doesn't have to swipe up on a padlock icon on the lockscreen. He simply presses the home key and places his finger on the scanner. I have to press the home key, then swipe up, them register the finger print. I swear done phones can do it from screen off to on and unlocked simply by touching the fingerprint scanner. What am I missing?

I don't ever have to swipe. Press Home button once, keep finger on scanner, it unlocks. Easy!
Any idea why I have to swipe every time?
Check out your lock screen settings... May be will give a clue..

I just press the home button and leave my finger on the home button to unlock.
I checked the lock screen settings. Nothing there to indicate this issue. Anyway, I factory reset and now it works like a charm. I appreciate all the people that told me they can already do what I wanted it to do but offered no suggestions on how to resolve the issue.
When you register your fingerprint did you moved your finger up and down and left right so that whole finger print is saved or just lift and place same part on and off?
For optimum way. You need to move a little up and down and left and right so that whole fingers print is saved.

When we can't recreate the issue, it makes offering help (outside of suggesting factory reset) a little difficult. Instead of insulting posters in a passive aggressive manner, you could just say thanks and move on.

Are you using the smart lock feature that disables the fingerprint requirement when connected to a trusted bluetooth source? That's what looks like is happening. When you do that swipe up, what you are doing is causing your phone to require your fingerprint again. That's what that little lock means. You are basically telling your phone "I know you are connected to a trusted bluetooth source, but require my fingerprint anyway."
Sent from my SM-N920S using Tapatalk
If the lock is present on the bottom of the screen it means your phone is unlocked. When you swipe from the unlock button you're asking if to require a fingerprint on the next unlock. Your fingerprint lock is not active normally. When it is secured you won't see the lock button

I see the confusion.
1-When you see no icon between the camera and the phone icon just put your thumb on the home button to unlock.
2-When you see a padlock icon in the bottom center, between the phone and camera icon simply swipe finger anywhere on the screen to unlock. If you press the padlock and swipe up you're actually looking the phone.
Hope this helps.

Thats correct. The op still has swipe to unlock with no security set up. Op go to settings, lock screen and security, screen type lock. It should be set to fingerprints, but probably isn't. Once that is set, all you have to do is, with screen off, press home button and release but keep you finger on the button till phone unlocks.
When you have that Icon you have set smart lock on. You can simply swipe the screen to unlock. You have to go settings and turn it off if you want to always use fingerprint. Search "trust agents" in your settings. Ps that's quite funny

I thought I saw where there is a way to have the Tilt wake-up by using any of the front buttons vs the side power button. Can someone please tell me how to do this?
Thanks!

I like the "Lock all buttons" mode to prevent the Tilt from being turned on accidently and draining the batteries in my pocket.
But a simple easy way to turn on the Tilt with the buttons locked and not touching the power button, is to slide the screen 1/8 -1/4 inch quickly and let it go back. The unit turns on without the power button even though the buttons are all locked!
Hi:
I am wondering the same thing as the OP. Has anyone found a way to map a different button to "wake" the device up? The power button is just too hard for me to find at times (like when I'm driving).
Any help would really be appreciated.
Thanks!
Sliding the keyboard wakes up the device.
Sliding the keyboard does not wake up my kaiser. There must be some setting somewhere that is causing this behavior for those of you that are experiencing it.

Hi Super:
I did see that post earlier. I guess I probably should have explained myself more clearly. I do not want all keys unlocked, since this would lead to buttons getting pressed by accident when in a pocket or purse. What I am actually looking to be able to do, is wake device with ONE key (instead of the power button). Perhaps by remapping another button to perform the action of the power button, or some other change.
For example, on the Treo 750, you just press the end button, then push the action button. The end button wakes the device, the action button unlocks it.
Thanks again!
You can always set the lock on the phone so that once a button is pressed you'll still have to press unlock on the screen.

Hi:
You're right, I think that's what myk meant. I think he was meaning that sliding the keyboard would wake the device.
Yes, if the phone is actually powered down, the only way to turn it on is with the power button.
I had exact same problem. Fidning the power key whilie driving and otherwise is pain too. So I disabled the key lock from above setting that means any hard key will turn the device on, but I also installed S2U2 or slide to unlock, so if the device was turned on by accident in my pocket, it will go off again soon.
should i start a new topic or can i post here
How can you turn the Tilt off without using the power button?
I posted this earlier in the main HTC M8 forum bug list post and figured it belongs here instead because someone with the ATT version said they don't have that. This is something that I experienced before and after I rooted the Sprint M8.
Basically what happens is that once you enable the setting to long press home for menu under settings and try to use it, it just takes you back to your home screen every time. I was expecting this to be similar to the long press for menu setting the recent apps button had with the EVO 4G LTE.
Go to Settings > Display, gestures and buttons > Buttons - Home

I'm glad I'm not the only one! This has been driving me insane since day One. No pun intended.
I'm not sure how many people here had one but... this reminds of the quick launch WebOS introduced back with the Pre. I hope we are able to add more apps to the quick launch.
Same thing here, along with the unlock screen. You swipe up too low it brings up Google search or browser. Highly annoying
Yeah I'm going crazy over this too. I thought maybe something was supposed to pop up in the bubble along with the search icon when you hold the home button.
I'm sure we'll find a way to make a persistent menu button.

Just swipe up without turning on the screen first. It turns on and unlocks the phone. No risk of accidentally going to Google and you save a step.
Neither setting in that section seems to have any effect as far as I can see. The home button always acts like "home" if you press and release, or press and hold, and even if you set "press and hold" to be Google Now, pressing and holding still simply acts like you just took a long time to release and it acts as a "home" button.
And, I haven't been able to figure out at all what the "Home double-click speed" setting even refers to.
I think the double-click speed refers to how quickly you need to double tap the screen while it's off to turn it on, maybe? Not sure why anyone would double-tap then swipe instead of just directly swiping, but whatever.

It sounds like these are settings left over from the M7, which didn't have on-screen buttons and long press home was needed for menu and double tapping the home button was needed for recent apps. Sounds like they forgot to remove the setting when they switched to on screen buttons.

The menu button shows up for me correctly in legacy apps. This is the correct behavior per http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2012/01/say-goodbye-to-menu-button.html?m=1
If ES File Explorer is setting the SDK version to 11 or higher and not providing an action overflow or other on screen way to access the menu then that is a bug with that program.
EDIT: In ES File Explorer, click on the button in the upper right to slide out the "Fast Access" panel. There is a settings button at the bottom of the panel.

You're correct, of course. When I was writing that I had already pressed the button, causing it to move to the upper right when the panel slid out.
First let me apologize if this is not the correct location on the forum to post this. I by am no means looking to bash the phone just had some questions that maybe some people may be able to help me with. I understand this is not Touchwiz so it is different, and these are very minor issues nothing that I could not learn to adjust to.
1) Notification drop down. Though I do like the "gesture" style notification drop down. Before I could use the finger print scanner to drop down to notification tab is there another shortcut way to make this happen similar to the finger print way on the S8+? I may be able to do in in Nova but will need to mess with it to figure it out.
2) Brightness bar. Does anyone know how to get the brightness bar to possible show up in the notification without it being pulled down all the way?
3) Home button. I can't seem to find a way to press the home button when in a full screen game app. Meaning prior I was able to press the location and then it would still work. Now I have to swipe up to show the nav bar and then press it.
4)LTE+ This is one isn't a complaint just a question about since I got the unlocked instead of Verizon it shows LTE+ vs 4G doing a quick search it seems to be ok just wanted some clarification.
Other then those few things I noticed over all I am happy the phone is a lot quick and better then my previous. Though at the same time nothing super new to really "wow" me I was already more then happy with the S8+ and the S10+ is a very good evolution. The hole punch is really not as bad as some others may have feared. The finger print does take a little time to get used to but seems to work about 85% success mostly do to slightly off placement. Having the extra cameras is great and so far a nice upgrade from my S8+. Again not really complaining but maybe there is toggle that I may have missed that could have fixed my little issues.
1. Use the swipe down gesture in nova launcher to pull it down, not as nice as FP sensor gesture i know :/
2. You can do this by checking the setting for 'Show Control on Top' when you expand the brightness control
3. If you are using the gestures for navigation you would swipe from where the home button would be if it were held in portrait, so typically on the right when gaming. just play with it.

Thanks, I actually used an an BX actions to remap the button on my S8+ decided to pay for the full feature and now I mapped it to drop down notifications so thats all set. Thanks found the control option by clicking on the arrow. As for my third the more I use both pbones it might be good to swipe up for the buttom. No more accidental presses when in full screen. So it looks like the phones grade is moving up ?. Thanks for the reply.
Pull down the notification all the way. Next to the brightness bar you will see a little down arrow, press that and there it is.

Oh, this is good to know. This is one of the reasons I switch launchers. I'm so used to swipe up anywhere for apps and down anywhere for notifications. This is even more natural to me than the fingerprint reader swipe, but of course the fingerprint reader let you do it in any app which is a big difference.
As for #4 since no one answered, the unlocked version is just being more specific. The US carriers usually replace the specific technology type (LTE, LTE+, etc) with generic "4G" branding (or 5GE if you're a jackass).
I just paid for full BXActions and I was able to remap bixby to double tap to drop the notification. Before I was happy with the free version but deff worth the extra few bucks. I can map more tap types.

In Nova Beta 6.1 you don't need Tesla anymore, there is an option in the notification which uses the default Pie notification (numbered) system. Starting tomorrow Tesla won't be available on Playstore due to Google new restrictions.
Hi,
I got my P30 Pro couple of days ago, so far everything is pretty smooth, but one thing really bothers me:
The sensitivity of the bottom right corner; I'm using SwiftKey with no dedicated emoji key (=you have to long press the enter key), and 3 times out of 4 it doesn't take the long press.
And my long press duration is 200ms...
Anyone having the same issue??
I think the corners are less sensitive by default to prevent accidental touches. Due to it having a curved screen, it's easy to activate app icons on the bottom left and right with your palm. On my s10 plus, i always accidentally launch apps which are situated in the bottom right. Never had this issue on the p30 pro so i guess it's better this way.

If you're talking about "Mistouch prevention", unfortunately it doesn't help as it's only blocking the screen to be turned on when the proximity sensor detects something like when it's in your pocket.
Just a heads up ,had the same problem of double tap to wake not working and any other screen off gestures. after few hours of fiddling came to know it has something do with the proximity sensor not being properly calibrated. Once I calibrated the sensor the issue was fixed for me ,sharing it in the interest so that it works for others too.
1. Enter engineering mode by entering *#808# on the dialer.
2.goto device debugging tab and select proximity sensor test
3. Make sure nothing covers your phone on top as instructed and tap the offset calibrate button multiple time until you see the text "pass" on screen.
4. That is all, now the double tap to wake should work along with other offscreen gestures

did you get the pass text after pressing "offset calibrate button" multiple times?
Yes
Should we put something at 2cm and then 4cm away from the phone when doing this calibration? It doesn't seem like we are calibrating if we just have the sensor pointing straight up at nothing? I have gone to the menu page for proximity calibration, but have not hit the offset calibrate button yet.
worked for me. Thx!
I didn't really locate the exact "offset calibrate button", but after simply hitting on a few of the options in that device debugging tab I got it up and running again. Thanks.

So the above worked for me, however, I clicked the calibration button one time and when it asked for me to put something 2cm/4cm away from the sensor, I used the back swipe gesture and left the calibration settings. Once I did that, my draw O for flashlight, tap to wake, notifications and ambient sensor started working again.

Thanks for the feedback. So it does ask to put something a 2cm/4cm away. That makes sense. I never did try it. I did settings/apps/show all apps/ show system apps/ambient display/ I cleared the cache and then restarted the phone. After that all was good and it kept working. That was a few days ago before the OTA update came down.
Delete. Wrong forum.

Step 2b: select infrared proximity calibration
Step 3b: follow instructions to place a planar object (my hand) at 2cm and then 4cm away from the top of the screen.
But it worked! Thanks OP
Doesn't work on mine either. However the only gesture that doesn't work is double tap, thankfully when I lift it now that works again.

Hopefully you will continue to be good from here on out! I have had zero problems with this device and started to love it again. Now my only pain point are the T-Mobile updates. Still waiting for the camera one to make its way to me and I am tentative about receiving future updates.

So you went into engineering mode and your double tap is still unresponsive?

Yes, however it's working now. I can put up with little bugs as long as they are eventually fixed. The only thing I don't like is showing somebody my nice new phone and having something not work ??
For those people who have this issue still, Oneplus afiirmed to have fixed/ improve DTTW and will release a stable OTA soon including other fixes

turn off single tap show then double tap should be works fine
i ran into this problem again this morning in low light after calibrating the proximity sensor and receiving the update that supposedly fixed the problem. will performing a factory reset restore whatever changes i made in the engineering mode?
